    This reminds me of a story told by a coworker who had recently become a volunteer firefighter in his small town. He was normally a very high-energy kind of person, and one day he was sort of dragging around the office... when asked if he was okay, he said that he'd been up most of the night because he'd gotten his first call out to fight a house fire. When asked how it went, he proudly proclaimed, "Well, we saved the slab (foundation)!"

    Matt, I would recommend adding an arch like they have on those home made "log trailers". It would be really handy for lifting those razers up and onto the trailer. Given rudy's welding skills, it would be something pretty easy to make/install. If you use pins to anchor it, you can easily remove it too as needed.

    • @nelsonwelch1747
      @nelsonwelch1747 Před 2 lety

      I would describe it as a folding A Frame. 5 pieces of pipe. 4 legs and one top cross member. The top cross member would have a roller in the middle for the winch line to go over. The top cross member would be about 4-5 feet off the trailer bed which would be enough to give enough vertical lift to come over that trailer end.

    • @nelsonwelch1747
      @nelsonwelch1747 Před 2 lety

      Or more simple would just be like a "headache" rack on the front of the trailer going side to side over the winch and box that is there now. The winch line would be straight up over the "headache" rack. The headache rack would only need to be about 4-5 feet tall and have that roller in the middle.

    Thinking out loud. Put a 3-4 foot tall box tube post with a hinged mount at the back of the trailer with a chain slot on the top of it. Run a chain over the top and pull with the winch. It will lift and pull the load at the same time. Ideally it would be in a receiver mount or something of that nature with a few spots to attach it as you move forward so you can continue lifting until the load is significantly on the trailer.

    Yall should a trailer make over after your done with the banana! Where you change the winch and redo that rat's nest and add a roller so the winch cable is high up. you could make it either detach or fold down and make the ramps slide in and out of the trailer so you dont have to lift them out everytime and they will be more solid

    Ed working away with that smoke in his mouth reminds me of my late grandfather. He would cough around his smoke with pincered lips rather than stop what he is doing to grab it out to have a good blast. He would do a stalling "hoomff---hoomff---hoomff---hoomff---hoomff" until he got to the end of a row of fork digging in his potato patch. Then he would pluck his rolley out, stoop a little bit, take a deep breath and have a good chimney clean. By that time the smoke would have gone out and he would have to use half a box of matches to relight it. His favourite rolley tobacco was Capstan and Champion Ruby.

Or even just bringing a sheet of plywood for side by sides, maybe with a few holes for straps. Get the vehicle onto the plywood and then have a bridle off the plywood to skid it up the ramps. Just ideas. Looks like this works okay enough to get it done too.

With forehead in hand, he asked, “How fast will they go in reverse?” “They will go as fast as they go in low.” “How fast will they go in low.” “They’ll do 45 mph in low, between 7 and 8 track.” I won’t tell where the conversation went after that🤪. Matt have you ever considered making the trailer into a tilting trailer. I've converted a few in the past You need 4 ft of the steel box that is the same as the drawbar and 4 pieces of 3/8 or 1/2 plate plate, 2 x 3/4 bolts and nuts A foot of tube to suit the bolts. So basicly you you mount the pieces of plate either side of the frame just forward of the wheels with the box section below it, with box section welded to the back of the drawbar using the bolts and tube as a hinge come pivot point. Then mount or fabricate a bolt/latch on the top of the drawbar that goes into a piece of plate with the appropriate sized hole in the front face of the deck/frame hole. similar to a sliding bolt style gate/barn door latch. one for each rail of the drawbar. That gives you security. now to lift the deck you use a bottle jack from a harbor freight portable engine crane. They are sold separately. They have a pivot on the bottom so as you raise the front of the deck they will tilt back. They have quite a bit of travel. This will give about 35* of angle to the trailer and thats all you need to stop most protrusions on the bottom of the towed vehicle catching on the back edge of the deck as the poor bbq ed RZR did. So this mounts vertically on the inside of one of the drawbar rails.. then you can make a limiting chain or rod. then its all done.
