In this video I show you how to model a shipping container home in revit. I create beam systems, floors, stairs, railing, door, windows and edit a family.

where can i find this family
For those interested, I've found the best way to model the container walls is as a sweep. This means you can use standard Revit doors/windows ect. and the openings are created automatically. All you have to do is create a custom profile family, I prefer to draw the entire wall as a single profile.

is there a way to edit the family so that the front/back wall can be changed into a vertical swing door? I want upper half of the wall to swing vertically up and the bottom half to swing vertically down

Hi. Thanks for the tutorial, I've finally been able to place doors & windows in my containers. I noticed that some lines were showing on the floor in plan view when you were adjusting the void extents. I have them showing too & messing up my floor plan, especially as I've placed furniture inside the container. How do I get rid of them?

i have one question regarding the visibility &graphic
i need to change the visibility and graphic for each level plan view and 3d view for a type of elements (like furniture) ( i mean if i change the visibilty and graphic for furniture for floor plan level 1 (to do so, i can see the furniture elements in fllor plan level 1), but, when i jump to the other view(like 3d view), i cannot see the furniture elements (i need to do the same step again)
is that right?
i think this is not a smart method?

Is there a way to make this invisible wall nested in the family? This aligning windows to openings later doesn't seem like the most efficient way to do this.

How do We cut the ceiling/roof of the container to go to the second floor? My project has two levels of shipping containers. It will not let me make an air wall on the ceiling to cut through. I go to ceiling plan in the properties browser...not cutting there either. Solution please?

Only problem I have is the void cut won't show in floor plan, neither in the family nor the project :/ I've been trying to solve it in visibility/graphics but I can't find the right item.

Actully there is a parametric plug in from bimbakery called shipping container as ready object u just modify it according to your needs and its for Archicad .
Take a look of that app. And dont be negative we are learining .

A pessoa que quer evoluir nesse programa tem que ver vídeos como esse com pessoa ensinando com outro idioma. Pq as aulas no Brasil quanto a vídeo no CZcams são bem limitados.
Hello Balkan Architect, you mention a reference to you other video (Parametric shipping container family) but it seems you forgot to point out that you made the container differently. The way you made the container on that video (czcams.com/video/DfHEjkIylZ0/video.html) was as grouped sweeps. This means that its difficult (or I may not know how to), but I find it impossible to cut through the profile. Cutting the profile with void extrusion will only work when you have made reveals on a thin wall to 'look like a container'. Please advice on best direction.

Am I the only one that noticed that two links for the families are the same
not a very accurate process, I would prefer modelling the container with walls and roof from scratch so that the doors and windows could be placed hassle free
