The Leafy Way addition in Miami, Florida, by Upstairs Studio Architecture is a stunning blend of modern architecture and traditional design elements, set amidst a lush tropical environment. Located on a private road surrounded by 100-year-old oak trees, this property offers a serene oasis within the bustling city.
The project aimed to seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor living experiences. The existing two-story screened porch was transformed into a contemporary great room that encompasses the kitchen, casual dining, family room, and study loft. This design approach enhances the connection to the outdoors, allowing for a natural flow between interior and exterior spaces.
Preserving the original architectural elements was a key consideration during the project. Details such as casings, trims, Cuban tiles, wood floors, and wrought iron staircase railings were carefully integrated into the new design. This preservation not only adds historical significance but also creates a harmonious and elegant space that beautifully combines the old and the new.
