Freezing Wild Camp on Cross Fell & a Chinese Trangia Masterclass

- Taking advantage of the good weather forecast, me and my dad @overthehillwildcamper set off from Garrigill and followed the Pennine Way to Cross Fell for a wild camp.
We pitched just off the summit, me in my MLD Duomid and my dad in his Durston XMid 2p.
Once the sun went down the clear skies guaranteed a frozen winter camp, with a very heavy frost. Despite the subzero conditions, I cooked Chinese braised pork on my Trangia 25.
A memorable winter camp.

Nice one Steve. There’s a local wind called the Helm which is an easterly. My dad grew up at the foot of Cross Fell. I camped up there a couple of summers ago. Atb

another good adventure lads👍ive put you forward for the next wild camping master chef.never tried corriander in my Chinese meals🤔 Greg's hut was my 1st ever bothy & i was actually on cross fell as they put the last stones on the summit shelter.the views across to shap with that sunset where mint☀️👌atb

Great camp lads, fair play with the effort made on the cooking, however you gave yer dad a hospital pass with that comparison to yer mum's cooking 😂. Beautiful sun and view in the morning. I don't know how you slept in a tent with no groundsheet or inner, I was freezing just watching it ❄️. Great adventure, well done 👍

Looked like a chilly one Steve 🥶, but a bet that scran hit the spot, love a trangia master class. Snowing in the tent 🤣, have you not received your Trailstar yet? I ordered one on the 2nd. That wind didn’t half pick up too, the morning views looked great with all that frost, class..atb Mick 👍

Just checked, I ordered mine on the 23rd of September so about 7 weeks in total. Worth the wait though. 😉
