I keep reminding myself that if a man can get away wearing a woman's dress then nobody should bat an eye if I want to wear 18th century clothes every day.
This is very well done - both the dress and the video. You have inspired me to make something similar, since I have some red/navy tartan that would work nicely. I will probably flat line the bodice, however.
I love your videos! Found you on the historybounding group on Facebook. I'm a begginer and the lack of patterns online is my biggest difficulty, as here in Brazil there's little to none historical patterns for sale. I was wondering if you would so kind to sent me this pattern,or post it somewhere? You'd be a life saver, and this is exactly the pattern I was looking for! I don't want to seem like I'm stealing all your hard work but I have no mannequin and little scrap fabric for mock ups ATM...anyway, whatever you decide, I love your videos, hope you grow my dear!
Hi! First of all thanks for watching my videos! About the pattern, I don't think mine would be particularly helpful in any way, I'm still very much a beginner, and I remember I had to make a lot of adjustments even after sewing it together. Also I only have an a4 scanner, so I have no idea how I could send it, I'm sorry. I could send you photos but without them being to scale, I doubt they would be of any use. If you are looking for historical patterns, you can look on etsy, Simplycity or mcCals has some nice historic ones, you can find even downloadable ones, if shipping is troublesome for you. Sorry for being so unhelpful, patterning is a whole profession by itself, and as a self taught sewer, I never officially learned it, and it's something I still have to improve on. I also don't really use store patterns either, I usually just make 200 mockups until I'm happy with the shape :) So my advice is to just go for it, and don't give up! You will get there eventually.
Love your vlogs. I’ve made several similar tartan dresses quite like yours but I line the bodice with cotton lawn or old cotton sheets. By the way I actually live in County Down in Northern Ireland!
Yes, maybe I should have lined it, but I wanted to keep it thinner, so I could also wear it in spring and autumn, and when it's very cold I always wear a slip underneath my clothes anyway. You live in such a beautiful place, I'm so jealous! :D
This Video reminds me of a saying that I adore. "No outfit is complete with out cat hair!" or pet hair for that matter! I have one cat and 3 dogs. I love your dress and may try to make one too.
Ok, I have to ask: what on earth kind of tea is that you made? I recognized some of the things going in but I've never seen anything like that before! Also, your cats are absolutely adorable!
I love that its a bit modernized and absolutely wearable for day to day without being ~too~ 18th century (as if thats a thing 😌)
I keep reminding myself that if a man can get away wearing a woman's dress then nobody should bat an eye if I want to wear 18th century clothes every day.
Beautifully adapted to a modern look!
Love the idea and the outcome. And LOVE the cat parts. They always try to 'help'. Very good and relaxing sewing video.
Such a GORGEOUS dress - WOW. Wish I could do a "Matrix" and download how you make this dress into my brain.
I wish making sleeves was so easy and quick. 😄 I really enjoyed watching this video, good luck on your next sewing adventures.
Lovely dress and great shots!
I highly approve of the amount of kitties in this video : )
Haha thanks! They always insert themselves into the process, so naturally I had to include them in the video :D
Well said and totally agree. Just found this vid and as soon as the music came on I subbed--before the action even started!
I love it! Beautiful cats too.
amazing dress! looks comfy, pretty and best of all - pockets!
lovely shots, and editing. great video to start the morning with
This dress is so beautiful! I love the fabric
There’s definitely a thing with kitties and just lying on whatever fabric you’re working with- as my profile picture shows 😂
Precious pocketses!
It’s so pretty!!! Great job!!
It's fabulous. Needs one thing though: a petticoat. And than it will be perfect.
Ah great idea! Especially in the winter chill
Bravo! It’s beautiful and so is your video. Thank you for sharing with us.
I love it! It’s just what I have been wanting to do. Perfect music! All is as beautiful as the one who made it!
How beautiful! I love your dress and it seems like it will be very fun to layer with shawls or cloaks. It looks lovely on you!
Wow! What a truly beautiful dress - and the shots of you walking through the misty forest are magical :)
Aww thanks, it was a very cold winter day, but for this it was worth it :)

What a woderful idea!
I'd also line the skirt, so it wouldn't get caught on my tights.
A very thorough video and such cute kitties!
oh, your crown-ring is absolutely magnificent! and well done, what a lovely dress!
I bought today my first sewing machine at 25 y/o and I hope someday I can make things as amazing as yours!
Aww thank you 🥰 Good luck with your endeavours!
Gyönyörű lett a ruha, gratulálok :) Remélem, egyszer majd én is eljutok idáig a varrásban.

So beautiful! It looks like a comfortable and easy to wear dress.
And it's warm too! Perfect for autumn and winter 😊
AMAZING!! 🥰
That is so beautiful! Now I want one as well

Absolutely beautiful dress, I am definitely tempted to make something similar for myself!

Hahaha, so true! Thanks 😊
Beautiful!
So, after watching your video for like 15 times, it is decided! I am making something like this- ish
The best of luck to you! The fabric was 150cm wide, and I used about 3 meters of it :)
You are so talented! 👏❤️
🥰 Thanks
Such helpful cats!
Haha, yeah they're the best sewing buddies 😄
Its so beautifull!
Just wanna know why all sewers do have cats 😂😂😂😂 myself as exemple
I guess cats are just perfect sewing buddies 😄
Nagyon szép volt! Hol sétáltál?
Utóirat: A cicák nagyon cukik.
Sok puszi Zsuzsi mama!
Köszi :) Az ördögorom lejtőhöz mentünk.
