These socks are knit flat from the cuff down to the toe, with a German short row heel. The sock is then folded in half lengthwise and seamed using mattress stitch.
Since this pattern is knit flat it can be knit with straight knitting needles or circular knitting needles. It can be difficult to find a US 1 straight knitting needle, so I recommend using a circular knitting needle for this project.
This pattern is available in 3 sizes: Small(Medium)[Large] based off of foot circumference 7”(8”)[9”] or in metric 18cm(20cm)[23cm]
    Materials
    • US 1 (2.25 mm) 32” or longer circular knitting needles
    Metal amzn.to/3tlUr22
    Wood amzn.to/38Mf6mx
    • Tapestry needle amzn.to/2WXH8J8
    • 2 Stitch Markers amzn.to/3yOUwg4
    • 200 - 400 yds (183 - 366 m) Fingering weight yarn. Exact amount of yarn required will depend on size knit, cuff length, and foot length.

I managed to make one sock finally and the excitement I felt when I finished it was so nice. I was absolutely giddy! I’ve known how to knit basic things my whole life but when I started trying to knit socks last year with DPNs and circular needles I was really discouraged and quit so many times. Finally making something I can wear (other than scarves) was just such an amazing feeling! Thank you for this video!

This is so helpful! I’m a super broke beginner, so I can’t really afford a bunch of new tools, but someone gifted me a bunch of straight needles in a TON of sizes. I only have a few circular needles, so I don’t have an appropriate size for every project, but since I have SO many straight needles, finding things that would normally be knit in the round designed to be knit flat is so helpful! Thank you!

THANK YOU, many times over . I have knitted & Crocheting various things most of my life, to a decent standard. Many years ago I knitted lace pattern white knee length socks with five double pointed kneedles. Found them quite easy to do. As I am now very much heading towards 80yrs still love knitting & Crocheting. Problem now, as I have just finished the 2nd pair of sock I have ever made is, I had to keep undoing & redoing them as I now realise my memory is letting me down. I tried the double pointed which I purchased for the socks. Then I tried with my 80cm double pointed , which I have recently made a few Baby Dresses with. I eventually finished and they are OK but dreaded the thought of doing another pair that I have promised to do for my Grandson. I am elated now I have found your chanel. At first I thought it was just telling people that socks could be done on TWO NEEDLES. Having watch a bit longer I realised you are also demonstrating, In a very good way and they look just as good as the best socks made with double pointed kneedles. 🎉😊. So eager to start, THANK YOU once again. I will comment again when finished but Promise I will keep it as short as I can.

Thanks so much! I do think there is a small error in the PDF though: in the toe decreases, you are missing the knit row that has “knit 20”, so row K should be “knit 2, SSK, knit 20”, etc. As a result, I think you need to add an additional knit and purl row to get down to the 46 stitches 😊
I am almost done and the sock is a bit large for me (even though my gauge was exactly right), but that’s ok, my daughters will fit them 😊

So just a reminder for any new makers of this pattern, for the medium size theres an error in the toe decreases, once you get to the 22 decrease instead of following the pattern you have to adjust the numbers from 18/16/14/12/10/8 to
    20/18/16/14/12/10
So the firsdecreases are from 20-18and then from 14 - 10 to get the correct amount of stitches. All the other sizes seem to be correct just that small typo

Also this sentence is confusing.

Hi @booshkabooshka1642 the easiest way to do this would be to make one little change when you move from knitting the ribbing to knitting stockinette. In the video the first row after the ribbing is knit and the second row purled. If purl the first row after the ribiing and continue from there, that sock will end up being mirror image of the other one. Hope this helps!

I only started watching this because I thought you were using flat needles that's all I have the circular needles that have or way too big. And it said you were giving it on flat needles

Hi! You can knit this project on straight knitting needles or circular knitting needles! I this video I treat my circular knitting needles as if they were straight so there is no need to join in the round

I assumed it was going to be done on platanitos I don't know how you would separate the stitches like you just did

@@robbinnaylor471 when the tutorial says turn your work, you turn you work exactly the same on straight needles. forget she is using circulars, your extra stitches will stay on the end of your needles until you have finished turning the heel, just the same as it looks in the tutorial. When doing kitchener stitch slip half the stitches to your 2nd needle. good luck with it, this is a greaet pattern.

Thank you for letting me know! Do you remember what app wouldn’t allow you to open it? It is a google doc - so I want to make sure I can prevent your issue in the future! Thanks!

At the end of the knit toe decreases should you have 42 or 46 stitches because you made a mistake in the PDF pattern decrease K , it should be k18 not k16

I’m not finding the instructions for sizing and number of cast ons. You say it’s below but how do I view it. The only thing I see below are comments. Help. Thanks

I liked this video a lot but I have a critique. I think showing the toe decreases on the video would have been better. Going to the pattern was really going out of the way and there are people watching this video that are beginners in knitting and don’t know how to read a knitting pattern.
