- Pig is love, Pig is life. A motto and credo of the Robbie C channel, the Pig is quite literally tattooed on my arm. There is one major problem with my favorite mold though...a lack of premium plastic. Discraft has changed the market once again though with its Zone Battle packs, and with these comes a premium plastic thumbtrack disc, the ZONE GT WITH A RINGER GT TOP!!! To say I'm excited to try this disc out is an understatement, but me and the zone do NOT have a good history together. So how did it stack up?? You'll have to watch to find out!!

can't believe anyone votes for the ringer. banger drastically increases backhand comfort for a zone while the ringer does nothing for either throw.

On a note for the zone. The crystal flx or esp flex from Discraft gives a more grippy feel than base plastic will give you, which is a plus of their plastics in the cold
crystal flx Zone is almost half my throws. almost any shot within 200 feet. if i could only play with one disc for the rest of my life it'd be a crystal flx zone.
Lone Star has the Copperhead 3/4/0/2 or the Armadillo 1/2/0/1 and both come in the premium Alpha plastic

I tried putting with them when i played my round with them and the banger top gave me soooo much comfort and confidence in my grip of my put i am thinking of changing to banger gt putters!

Hunter is having a bad day. At least, from the video I watched today that was recorded end of October. I have faith though. He will break 68 on his last attempt.
What about the extra soft tactic for winter golf and the Razor claws as their "premium" edition ? Camt remember wether you've tried them before ?
I have several zones and they feel 'SLIGHTLY" different in my hand..some feel like they cuff my fingers better while some like (the 6x PM's) feel shallower...BUT they do all fly the same and they stay that way....which as I found out early the PIG does not...its been the 1 disc where I was like what happened to my disc???? didn't hit anything....but now I have found the best of both worlds in the lucid chameleon suspects...for those who wish they had a beat-zone its money
I love the ringer gt in that premium plastic. Hoping it wins and we get a soft zone ringer GT.

I wanted to like the Bangzone. The Ringer just feels better and got my vote. I'm tempted to get another battlepack so I can have two Ringers.
I’ve never thrown any discraft however I bag a disc similar to a pig that being the rhino. I have two one in star and the other in r pro plastic and just love the feel and the thumb track
I know how you feel about the Pig. Im the same with with my DX Birdie, just fits my game and hand well. My best straight approach under 200'. It gets beaten up and just flies the same.
If you were using Chicago Blackhawks PA-3’s you’d have made every putt..

This is the reason I got the Gator Metal flake. no thumb ring, but it pretty much replaced my pig for shots with a bit of a rough landing or heavy tree in the fairway.
Lonestar discs copperhead comes in premium plastic. It flies pretty similar to the pig in my opinion. My glow copperhead is just as overstable as my rpro pigs.

Gateway warspear has the thumbtack and comes in premium plastic now.
Innova did do a limited run of blizzard champion pigs a few years ago. Apparently due to how much plastic the pig takes even with blizzard plastic they had a hard time keeping the pig under a PDGA legal weight so they didn't do another run. I still have mine hanging on my wall. I will say it was very domey and was more glidey and understandable before fading back hard. From what the others reported from the ones they received they weren't super consistent. Some said it was stupid overstable others said it flew like a super beat in pig. When Ricky was signed with Innova I had hoped his influence would make them take another look but with him leaving I very much doubt they will do another run.
I lost my Pig a few weeks ago. I just got one from Amazon today. It's a new version with the new Innova logo. The plastic feels different and slightly more premium but stiffer than the older runs. I'll be throwing it soon and see how the plastic holds up.
Both Zone GTs feel great to me. It’s been a close battle so far but I am slightly more consistent with the ringer zone.

Toro - its a Innova Zone and feels/is a bit deeper comes in Champion and Star. Used to carry Entropys but didnt like FH - tried a Toro and sold my entropys that day. Its what I wanted that to be.
Other being 1 speed faster the zone and a ringer GT have the same numbers. So it’s not enough of a different disc to have it permanently produced. The banger zone is actually a different usable disc..it’s a Banger GT OS
Hear what you're saying about the dagger. I went from Ions and Daggers to Pures and Proxies. Make percentage went way up.
You should work on a disc with Jesse from trash panda and call it the robin and you could have your perfect approach disc

For grip on the cold, get some cold temp surf wax and keep it in a plastic bag. Lightly tough/rub your fingertips on it before every forehand. Not enough to coat the disc; obviously, but enough to add a little grip. Makes a huge difference.
Get a green puck of Working Hands. Gives me moisture on my hands without an greasy mess. Popular up here in Cleveland. I've also seen PM using it on the course.
Hey Robbie? Have you tried those grip gloves for winter time play?
The depth issue is odd to me because because if you forehand with fairway drivers and distance drivers, they will all be thinner as well. Is it that you throw a lot more shot shapes with the putters/mids?
The depth is thinner, but the rim width is wider so it changes the grip.
Have you tried the FH Power Grip w/ the Zone. I’m 6’3” w/ big hands and I throw Zones, but I usually throw power grip on FH. Allows me to get a firmer grip and tbh I feel control my shots better
Robbie Please throw a Razor claw 3 in the bag . I know you liked thr tactics before and it's the right depth . more then a zone less then a Harp.

Robbie, have you ever tried the MVP Entropy? I use to bag a Zone, but decided to try the entropy when I wanted to try MVP. I would explain it as a deeper zone! It might be worth a comparison versus the pig!

I'm trying to build my bag, and i stumbled on one problem. I kinda want my discs to be how they are, and not how they bet in. I know that's not realistic, but should i think about that when i build my bag further? can anyone please answer this?
I am in the same boat. Most of my discs I want to fly like how they are out of the box vs beat in. Now some I don’t mind a little beat in but I don’t want a disc that takes years to beat in the fly how I want it. What I do is let’s say for my 7 speed slot I carry two fds. One in s line and one in c line. The s line will beat in faster and the c line will stay stable for longer. Get one disc in a more premium or overstable plastic and one disc in a less premium plastic. That way it beats in a little bit but it’s also easily replaced.

Zanger is the different zone. Zingers are just stable zones and the thumb Trac isn't prevalent enough for me.
Im sorry to say that i voted bangerGT top becasue i liked its quirky feel on hand and RingerGT one felt so damm shallow. I bag "PIG" that has been in bag now 3 seasons(literalylly hyzer flip from small hyzers) and pretty much new Innovastore special stamp PIG. Im not biggest fan of really overstable approach discs so my old beat up PIG and P1 gets alot time both forehand and backhand.

I think the thumb track on the ringer zone is too close to the rim so I don't even feel it on forehand or backhand throws. The banger zone is a little less understandable than my regular zones, but at least feels like a different disc. I'll be voting for the banger top even though I like the ringer a little more, because if discraft is going to make a new disc, it should feel unique. The ringer top is just too similar to a regular zone to make it worthwhile
Come back to the zone in the summer.

1. Bias is ok here. Everyone is different. Seemed like you were open minded and provided information to others that can help them make informed decisions.
2. Big box contracts / mass production keep the product widely available on the market at reasonable prices. Still, I’m with you and don’t understand why the pig isn’t available in a premium plastic.
