I go into blissful trance with this era Trane
Ive been in awe of Coltrane for almost fifty years now.
And every time i listen to him, i still discover new things.
Was there anything he couldn't do??
Because hes so Powerful and intense.
And yet he can be so tender.
They talk about the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix...i wouldnt give you two wooden nickels for either of them compared to John.
He's canonized for Sainthood for chrissakes!
Ive seen that David Crosby video where Coltrane follows him into the bathroom, and doesn’t even know hes there.
And his playlist goes for miles. Legendary. Impossible to believe or convey to someone whos never heard of him. Someone who thinks Clarence Cleamons ,ir the guy on Baker Street is a great Sax player...And thats the opinion of the majority of listeners out there.
How do we get them to listen??
He was bigger than life.
One reaction video ive recently seen talks about how McCoy and Elvin are the uplifting sounds, while Jimmy Garrison provides the downdraft.
And Coltrane rides the two vibrations and spins it around, and the results are what we hear.
That sounds like the making of a Tornado.
Coltrane is a Tornado. An F5 tornado. All the intensity, spinning ,and blowing at 300 mph. God Help anyone who happens to get in his path without knowing ...
Well said.
I agree with most of this comment. I would add though that Hendrix, The Beatles, Clarence Clemons others, were not trying to do what Coltrane was doing. Hendrix, I think, approached this level in his genre. Apples to oranges. The guy who loves oranges might now like apples at all. Any way, thanks for this comment and the responses.
Crazy of the craziest performance!!!!! Absolutely awesome
Wow the greatest quartet of all time
Definitely one of them!! Check out Eric Dolphy live at the Five Spot for another great Quartet. 🎹🎷🎺 🥁
Yes yes yes
What n incredible discovery . That which you seek, seeks you ! This is heaven on earth. Thank you for creating such gifted musicians. I love every single note. Marvelleuse!
This is phenomenal and it was recorded on the day of my birth! He was playing this as I entered the world, showing me some of the wonderful things this life would contain.
thats called "born under a good sign" 🖖sir
やはり これをjazzというのだと!改めて目が覚めた❗ありがとうございます🎵
Naima. A serenade, a love song about failed love, expressing all stages thereof - infatuation, disilllusionment, bargaining, regret, argument. There is some sort of resolution at the end but only Coltrane himself understands its meaning. Some sections are beyond music, like the whaling of emotion around 5:15. As if an ability exists to convert the pure emotional energy within to sound, accurately. This is such an evolution from the orginal interpretations and performances of this tune. And then there's the rest of the concert to listen to.
this is the greatest version of my favorite things, height of coltrane's explorations before he moved beyond his great quartet, close your eyes and travel to a world beyond pandemics, greed, capitalism, lies...
You can go beyond pandemics, greed, lies, but not capitalism..! hahaha

'As we listen to the beauty of Coltrane's music, we've worked hard to understand his comment...we'll make some guesses, so...the video is long...and sophisticated.'

late coltrane is best it is a total myth that he was all about screeching

Merci!
God gives us everything we need, and I think him for giving us John, Coltrane, Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner and Paul chambers, this is spiritual, I was going up the New York Thruway through the mountains, listening to this and got emotional thanks John we love u.🎼 and . All praise to God to all praises is due
Grandiosa grabación en vivo del más grande saxofonista y su gran grupo!!!!!!!
Pushing, probing, reaching. Hearing the live sets from 61, 62, 63, 65 I hear a clear progression. I'm sure if I heard sets like this from 64 they would show another step forward. Now this and others leading up to the great change. Interesting to know that McCoy and Elvin left him. He didn't fire them. I love the transitional Seattle discs, including A Love Supreme and then beyond into "Interstellar Space" in more ways than one. I wonder who is performing and creating on this level today. Maybe William Parker and his associates. I believe jazz can continue to grow and move forward, and I believe it will. I hope I am here to grow with it.
I cannot imagine the thrill of the French audience who knew exactly what they were witnessing.
Thrilling to hear what it must have felt like in person 🎹🎼🌹💐
History in the making, history today, tomorrow and forever...
3 days before the Election in 2020. Relaxing to this recording before a long night of work. This is like prayer.
we did it
@@evantaylor7531 Si, se puedes.
@@evantaylor7531 good god. Trane didn't play his music so that you could become ideologically possessed. Come on my brother, learn something! Biden has managed to start new conflicts and continue the American war machine not even before half a year in office.
@@JS-dt1tn Can we just enjoy the fing music ffs? It’s not the time for this rn
@@greatestever8772 you're fully entitled to your opinion. I just happen to belive that it is the time for this. Peace to you brother.
His second solo on my favourite things is wonderful, I need to practice getting some of thoses lines
Beyond BEAUTIFUL! REST IN POWER TO ALL!
This is one of the best versions of My Favourite Things that I have heard. Phenominal!!!
He told Miles once that he just can't stop playing Miles said just take the damn thing out of your mouth.
John Coltrane is the visionary poet of recent times
His music is sacred, therefore, terrible and sublime
Thanks you
insanely good performances. the band is totally cookin' while gone into intergalactic space. Mccoy Tyner just takes off! unbelievable
still love his music
Thanks for the music JC and band ❤️☮️❤️☯️❤️
I totally agree this rendition of my Favorite things is his best of all, together with the Olatunji concert. So beautiful. And the Afro Blue take is close by! Listen to Elvin going bananas at the end…
Unbelievable greatness. SIXTY years ago!!
When you think of the doors this mans music opened, musically, spiritually, cosmically, the mind wobbles on it's Axis. At least mine does, as a matter of fact it's wobbling pretty well listening to this incredible music. Peace and Sounds ✌️ cj 💚
想要好眠聽這整張專輯很有幫助
The best forever !
If only a pro audio engineer had recorded that gig . I wish we could hear the bass .
very bewitching
Loistava konsertti. Kiitos 🤓
Thank you for posting this, so much artistry to channel and getting connected to.
One Love !
I Was At The 💈 Barbershop Discussing Jazz With Some Cats There, And The Subject Of John Coltrane Popped Up.
And A Couple Cats There Said They Didn't Dig Coltrane. I Asked Them Why, And They Said: "He Ain't Playin' Nothin'! He's Just Usin' Tricks To Get Over! The Shit Don't Make Sense"!!!
I Said Yeah It Might Not Make Sense In Melodic Terms Of What Music Should Be Interpreted As Sounding... However From The Grass Roots Level Of Feeling...It Doesn't Need Interpreting!!! 🎧
La version de un musical traído con el sax soprano al jazz, My Favorite Things, le da un giro de 360 grados, convierte la pieza en música de otra dimension..!
A recording of A Love Supreme, has been found. Recorded in Seatle live performance, in 1965, and will be released by Impulse on Oct 8.
Wow!
Coltrane LIVES!!
FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE ( in this concert some of the live tracks are much better than the studio versions )
@scrotiedotbiz Right on. The versions played on Temple University and Japan in 1966 are amazing.
I have this boot..this should have been an official, legitimate release YEARS AGO.... Audio is very good, performance speaks for itself....really great black music..Why has this not been released to the world ??? A real shame..as usual probably LAWYERS involved so it will probably never see the light of day for the masses...a Damm shame.
Michael Serra: Sir I am sorry to let u know from NYC that no THIS HAS NOT BEEN OFFICIALLY BEEN RELEASED EVER. Are there more " official " looking releases of this set? Possibly. OFFICIALLY means to us from the COLTRANE ESTATE RUN BY HIS SON RAVI. Please provide us with your proof and where to get this " offical" release that you are referencing as we would love to purchase it for our collection. Thanks
Tracks 1-5 of this bootleg are legit released on the deluxe reissue of A Love Supreme
What a version of My Favorite Things....it is a shame that Discogs labels this release as a bootleg
Because it is a bootleg.
insanely good
Прекрасно.
Excelente, gracias!

Diese Musik ist eine spirituelle Erfahrung.
Dasein, lieblingsspiel, Musikphilosophie.

Brother, I don't know if YOU SPECIFICALLY dubbed John Coltrane as SAINT COLTRANE, but to whomever that did?
Your genius is seen & appreciated. Because this he was.
A saint to the artform of music.
Myself? I'd also go as far to include Saints Miles, Saint Jimi, Saint Dizzy, & Saint Duke, Ellington.
💙🌸😃🌱
i feel some part lovesupreme's minor blues .is that true?
💙❤💖💜
OMG
Can't find this recording
Fenomenal!!!
🤘😁🤘
Magnifique ! Merci ...
Coltrane is in socks! French Freedom ! :)
16 thumbs down! Why? 🤔
McCoy!
58年。またね。
1:00:07 wow, the end section of Impressions is like entering hyperspace!
Very serious musicians compare this man to Johann Sebastian Bach. I do not feel competent to comment on this. But this music is just a prove that it made sense to start the DNA game on earth.
Hey, tell the guy tapping his foot to get away from the microphone.
many ts players performed much better with the soprano sax, so did also Coltrane
Coltrane haunts myself ! Possessed by his devil's music towards my extase !
For me aswell...
What does John Coltrane have to do with the devil???
@@abuibrahim5588 That'd be Kenny G.
Trane plays transcendence !!
What does kenny g have to do with the devil?
some of Coltrane's sounds are like......an argument put to music
OUCH...Just bedlam & sound effects...not my favorite things!
Go back to Kenny G.
