In this tutorial we use the properties of clips to manipulate the Scale X and Scale Y parameters of a clip to get the size we want. Then, Position X and Position Y let us change the area we zoom in to. Later, we use the context menu automated animations and finally build our own animation using keyframes. OpenShot has some amazing features!
OpenShot is available for free for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from www.openshot.org/download/

Rather than Trying to extend that 10 MINUTE mark
I've just started using OpenShot, maybe 2 months or so and I've mostly felt my way into things not really understanding what the good stuff did so this video helped me immensely. I have subbed and hopefully you will continue to teach me the use of this editor and other things as well. Thanks for doing your videos and I look forward to watching more.👌👌
Tip: if you want to zoom in in an specific frame, split it and press on the one you did.
thank you thats what i wanted
Thanks!
That's just a workaround.
It's kind of stupid that the program does not allow zooming in and out within one clip, but rather it can only do "start of clip", "end of clip", or "entire clip".
I don't want to split the clip into multiple chunks, as I worry that there may be transition problems.
@@niccolom Yeah I realize,d it now. I wish it was like other apps. Only the zooming part
@@niccolom And just split some part and put it together to the clip, nothing will happen
I absolutely could not figure this out, thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed and it was straight to the point. Keep up the great work!
I'm just starting to use Openshot and your tutorials are really helpful. Thanks man, videos like these can help me improve on my editing!
Just found your channel. This is a fantastic tutorial, clear, concise, to the point and no waffle...thank you. Keep it up.
Thank you, I am always so happy to hear when people think the tutorials have the right speed!
Thanks for the tutorial man, straight to the point
Thanks! was looking to zoom into a video, your tutorial was the on;y one that didnt have an obnoxious intro, and wasnt 20 minutes long. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. Showed me just what I needed to do to zoom into a video using OpenShot.
Liking and commenting because you got to the point so quickly. I know youtubers such as yourself have to self promote and i understand that completely but its soooo annoying to have like a 3 minute self promoting section in a tutorial. You did it very quickly and got to the point and i appreciate that. Helpful information as well!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I wanted to reuse footage combined with stillshots and needed a way to make the stillshots more lively.
Really thanks for the zooming tips!

Really appreciate the video! Very helpful!
Was just looking on how to do this, thank you!
Really clear tutorial. Thank you
excellent vide! would you know if it possible to change the position of a keyframe? For instance, I have in time 2:00 a zoom in, and a position shift. I am happy with the animation, but I would like the animation to run not a time 2:00, but at time 5:00. Is there a way to simply move the keyframe?
thank you so much, this is short, straight the point and slow enough to understand everything correctly ! Awesome
Glad to hear this, thanks!
Did help very much, thank you!
This helped me a lot! For some reason though when i center on a part of a clip, it adds a zoom effect towards that spot. How do I stop that?
Subscribed and Liked. Well done. Your explanation was clear & concise. Thank you!
Super helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for tutorial, already I am trying to use tips from you :D

Bro how to fix the cracklings sounds when I export my video and sounds are overlapping with the music?
looks realy great. I'm using 2.3.2 on windows and i also use linux version. installed from apt-get on my newest linux mint 18.1. Linux version is as I remember 1.4... something and I must say I prefer old version on linux. It's more straightforward for me and it's also faster and more stable... Is it because windows version sux? Or my win8.1 sux? Or older openshot is better?
Thank you! Edited my video right away :) not a bad free editor as long as I keep the videos short
I tried this on my Mac since iMovie was having problems, but instead of zooming, the X scale stretched the image side to side and the Y from top to bottom. I have the free version, is that the problem, no zoom in that one? Or what do I need to do to zoom into a frame. Uploaded a single photo. Thanks
Thank you and this video is very helpful!!
Wow. Thank you!! I was looking for this option in openshot 😁 😍 👏🏻

Is there a way to make the preview window the same size as the video that is going to be created? when adding multiple images and trying align them, they look correct in the preview but slightly out when in the final video output.
I have the same issue as you. In addition to that when i zoom in at an object the preview is correct but the final video zooms at the wrong place

very good tutorial no matter how old
Great tutorial, though I'm struggling a little trying to figure out how to fix black bars on top and bottom in one place while the video pans as the bar effect doesn't seem to provide a placement property.
What about an instant/no-transition zoom for when you want to "jump" to a specific corner or section of the video?
Thanks this is what i will edit with

How do make a mask for a small part of a video with the new Openshot 2.3.3, like the photo at the beginning of this video, it has a blur effect just on a small part, that can be done on gimp, but it's for photos, I want to do that to a video with OpenShot.
Could you make a video of that?, on older versions it was possible with a transition effect, with a photo of black and white, but I can't make that in the new version, I can't find the Type>transition to mask menu...
Greetings from Chiapas, Mexico.
