I used to think it was a fake sound used for dramatic effect in these movies until I got the chance to fire a .44 in Thailand. It sounded just like it did in this clip.
Ngl i think this is one of my favorite scenes of all time. The buildup to the shootout is simple and doesn't require much. The music works perfectly as it crescendos from suspicion to action and then finally to resolution which feels like a nice breath of relief. Theres no big monologue from the bad guys and theres nothing sympathetic about them either. Theyre just a bunch of goons trying to rob a safe. Clint is perfectly matched with his partner as bait and the inexperienced stakeout cop who nicely contrasts to the experienced Callahan. A wonderful scene that I always come back to

Had a Ruger Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Sounds like a cannon. Took it to the range a few times and every time I shot it everyone would stop what they were doing and looked at me.
a friend's dad had lots of firearms Ruger was his pick . let me shoot the .44 Blackhawk with Mag loads ... man what a kick and the sound was something else .. you needed plugs in the ears

I used to think it was a fake sound used for dramatic effect in these movies until I got the chance to fire a .44 in Thailand. It sounded just like it did in this clip.

Ngl i think this is one of my favorite scenes of all time. The buildup to the shootout is simple and doesn't require much. The music works perfectly as it crescendos from suspicion to action and then finally to resolution which feels like a nice breath of relief. Theres no big monologue from the bad guys and theres nothing sympathetic about them either. Theyre just a bunch of goons trying to rob a safe. Clint is perfectly matched with his partner as bait and the inexperienced stakeout cop who nicely contrasts to the experienced Callahan. A wonderful scene that I always come back to
