The method itself is winding the band around the pole so that its a loop that replaces the first loop. BUT by UNWINDING THE FIRST LOOP HE DID ESSENTIALLY LIFT THE FIRST LOOP. By re-looping it he actually un wound the first loop.
You can just have the ring go over the stick and slip it out from the center of the string. Anyways the way this guy did it is valid. He never detached the string from the stick, he only added new attachment points, and it doesn't matter if those new attachment points replace the old ones.

easier way.. place the ring in any wood/pole (laying in the wooden base, gran the inside side of the ring but fingers should be in between the rope, and lift the other end of the ring in between the rope...
There's a way faster and less complicated way. Put the ring over the post at the left base. Then reach with your right pointer and thumb between the band in the middle and pinch the ring. Pull it up over the top of the left post. Then pull the ring down and out with your left hand.

If you break the wooden sticks you can slip the ring off.
There's a much easier way to do it. {One of Several ways). Here's the method i'd recommend:
Put the ring over one of the sticks and lower it just below the rope loop. Then pull the ring back up between the ropes and lift it over the stick - There it is. It's free! {& this method uses just two steps; no knots needed!}

The puzzle difficulty isnt the puzzle itself but the understanding of what u are allow to do. Most people would think u cant touch either end of the rope. But once that is made clear there are multiple ways to remove the ring.

worked it out:: A front B behind. When you grab and pull B, foreward, then go UNDER B and grab A and loop it against left node A (relases ring from B) and B .is pulled from behind ring and also loped on left node (releasees ring from A). the fluff you hold is then released, and the ring is now free of constraint. YOU had made a third node using your hand!
I bet you couldn't do it if the rope was glued to the stick where it makes contact.

The simple way is to put the ring over the peg. Then reach down between the two ropes and lift the ring up and above the ropes. Keep pulling the ring out past the peg, and the two will separate.

You've simply described pulling the rope away and removing the the ring. There is absolutely no other way to remove it, this video just masks the fact the rope is getting pulled off the stick.

Puzzle is flawed and there is a way to remove ring in just 2/3 moves. 1) Take ring so its under string with one of sticks on its center (just put ring on the stick) 2 ) grab ring catching it in between strings (3) pull it up from "inside" of string - if done properly you are technically not detaching rope from sticks, ring is removed (slipping from string free).
really clever person sees my way truly in a second- some might say it's a cheat but it's not, I freed ring in 3 moves without even touching string directly. Because this puzzle is flawed, enabling my approach.

except you're still technically detaching the rope at one end from the system by forming another loop otherwise it is impossible. a clever person would literally take what you claim without removing or breaking the rope and instead break the stick

He adds extra loops. He never removes the loops that were there at the start.

Traditionally the ring would have been a gold wedding ring, so it would not be big enough to do it that way, although given the equipment used here that is the obvious solution.

The method itself is winding the band around the pole so that its a loop that replaces the first loop. BUT by UNWINDING THE FIRST LOOP HE DID ESSENTIALLY LIFT THE FIRST LOOP. By re-looping it he actually un wound the first loop.

I saw it. You just need to break/cut one of the sticks off. You won't detach the ropes from the sticks if you're careful to maintain tension when you break it off from the base. Then pull the ring off through the break you made in the stick.
Looping the ends around the stick is a deceptive way of removing the rope from the stick but maintaining the illusion it is still on

easier way.. place the ring in any wood/pole (laying in the wooden base, gran the inside side of the ring but fingers should be in between the rope, and lift the other end of the ring in between the rope...

There's a way faster and less complicated way. Put the ring over the post at the left base. Then reach with your right pointer and thumb between the band in the middle and pinch the ring. Pull it up over the top of the left post. Then pull the ring down and out with your left hand.
