Fun fact: originally in beta, a 'crush' button existed for all the vehicles who could crush infantry. Later this was just integrated into a move order so the button was ditched.
Voice commands still exist in game files for the crush command. The Chinese Dozer has them too, including one saying "what are they, protestors?"

C&C Generals aged like fine wine, I appreciate this game and its scarily prescient premise and over the top presentation more today than I did back when it came out. The entire game is a meme now, it's beautiful.

The GLA have easily the most amusing unit audio out of any faction in RTS history period!! While USA is like "Laser Crusader, ready for engagement", China is "We stand togetha" GLA is like "LeTs Go CaR sHoPpInG"

@@drillusion5196 The funny part is, according to some speculated lore, these guys aren't even actually originated from MidEast, but Central Asia (All the -stan nations turned "superpower", so to speak. And their capital was in Kazakhstan). They even tried (and failed) to liberate East Turkestan (Xinjiang)from China.

The base game was released Months before the Invasion of Iraq so it had to be in the development pipeline for a good long while.

God, I love this goofy-ass game. I get the same laughs from it that I get from Postal 2. Very 2000s, very offensive to current year sensibilities, except in Generals, it's almost like they were completely serious, which makes it so much goddamn funnier.

I’m so glad generals has not been forgotten. I’m only 14, but I grew up with this game and other command and conquers, like red alert two. I still play it. And now that generals evolution is out, it really is amazing how it came back. Command and conquer is my childhood, and I really miss games like this. The rts of today aren’t to great compared to the classics. This game had so much funny shit in it bro. Personal favorite is, “gla postal service”

My brother's and I played this game so many times when we were kids. We played it so often that we sometimes quote the game for example, I looted a building in 7 days to die and I said "I think I am done with this building" to then my brother replying back with "I am finished with the building"

FINALLY YOU MADE IT!
When I was 12-13 yo in 2012, my secondary high school offered a small Acer laptop with Ubuntu. A day, a class mate managed to install Windows 7 on it, and while they were all playing Minecraft and stuff, I was discovering C&C Generals, its Zero Hour addon and of course some mods like Shockwave and Rise of the Reds! Maybe a day EA will understand we don't want a Generals 2, but a remaster with next-gen RTS engine.
You can't imagine how nostalgic I feel while watching this. Thank you so much!
