A Tour of Our Airbnb in Mérida, Yucatan!

- For our 6th location in Mexico, we headed west from Valladolid to the oldest Spanish colonial city of Mérida, Yucatán. Our Airbnb is a 3 bedroom single story colonial home in Mérida's first barrio mágico, La Ermita. It's got a lot of character and is only a few blocks from Plaza Grande in Centro. We somehow also found a cat to feed.

Omgosh what a sweet little kitty. That would make the airbnb perfect for me.
Yeah, not sure how she is going to adjust to us not being around anymore, but she had three months of being pampered. LOL Thanks Julie
I absolutely love the colonial Mexican homes. I haven’t bought a home in Mexico yet.
I’m looking for the exact right restoration project.
This one is gorgeous!!
It is at that. There is so much to this house to love. There are a lot of houses for sale around this neighborhood. Some need a little love, some need a LOT! LOL
Cool Colonial Digs! Pool, AC, three bedrooms, plus you are going into the cooler Season now. Great doors, cathedral ceilings and a new kitty........I think after three months there, you will fell so at home you won't want to leave, Another great adventure
Yeah Tom, that is one of the reasons that we financially commit to the Airbnb's for the next year. It literally forces us to have to keep on our schedule. LOL. This is really such a cool house in so many ways.
What a cool house! I've never seen screen doors on a bedroom before, that mirror was very pretty, 9' or 10' doors, love the high ceilings. The kitchen looks well-stocked. Wow, I misjudged the height of the doors! That looks like a wonderful home!
It really is something different. There are a lot of open windows, so I think that the screen doors are to keep the little flying pests out of the rooms. Everywhere you turn here, there is just something to behold. We love it!
Excellent 👌👍 video enjoy your beautiful historical casa grande
Thank you Marco. We really are enjoying it a lot.
I love that you love kittiez ♥ thank you for your kindness
Cielo doesn't give us much choice. LOL
Wow, that'sa really nice place. Beautiful details! Thanka for showing us! And that's a pretty amazing fan up on the ceiling, wish I could see it better
It is actually three colanders that are the light shades. REALLY! We busted out when we saw it, but it works. Thanks!
Omg I love the kitty!
She is a mess and quickly decided to adopt us. LOL She stays with the house though.
Welcome to Mérida! This place owns my heart.
We can easily see why! We need to arrange a time to get together before we leave.
@@GringosRUs I would love that. I love that you guys are seeing so much of Mexico before picking a location to land. What an amazing experience. I would do the same if I did not have three cats that hate traveling, but we’re all happy here in very sweaty Mérida!
@@DenLD It is amazing how Merida seems to be a cat city versus the parts of Mexico that we have seen so far and the number of dogs. Let us know the what is a good time for you. Gina is still in limbo as I think she has one or two weeks left of work.
@@GringosRUs I think there are a lot of both cat and dog people here. Let me know what time works for you. I’m retired now!! Woot!!
At the moment (this is Gina) I am contracted until the end of this month and unless something changes, I will be free every day in October! LOL I'll keep you posted. We still have some pueblo magicos and archaeological sites to visit that are reserved for the weekends at the moment, but I will gladly move those to weekdays if I'm not working. We also have MUCH of Merida to explore!
I am so happy you got a nice AirBnB after Valladolid. I am sure you are having a great time.🎉❤🎉 I am celebrating for you‼️
Thank you so much!! Enjoy tonight Wilfredo!
Love the Casa!!! Sure you will enjoy your stay there. Can't wait to hear what you think of Merida 🍀 AC 🤯 (😿 No cheese for cats pls!!! No lactose for kitties! Cute kitty though 🐈🐾)
Thanks. Nope, that is why we bought some food for Cielo. We do love this house and are having a blast here in Merida so far. Hard to believe that we are already half way through a three month stay.
Love the House 🏠 😍 ❤️
So do we Patsy! Our favorite house so far.
Beautiful 😍
Thanks Lisa. We love it!
I've walked that neighborhood:)
It is such a great little neighborhood. Safe, clean and friendly!
@@GringosRUs yes it is
There is a lady that bought a home in Centro, she's remodeling it
There are a lot of homes being remodeled here in Centro. There is one right down the street next to the tienda that is going to be stunning when they complete it, from what I have been able to see so far.
LOL, running that one mini-split 24/7 is going to cost you a small fortune. I'll be waiting to see that CFE bill.
Your wish is granted. We found the bill in the mailbox today. It's about 4000 pesos or about $235 for 2 months. Yeah, that is high, but by comparison, it is less than half of what we paid in the USA. In fact, if we weren't on a budget plan, our electricity in the summers would have been over $400 a month.
@@GringosRUs - everything is relative. I lived in Texas for 22 years where my summer electric bill always exceeded $400/month. Here, in the central highlands of Mexico, it rarely exceeds $7.50/month. My bimonthly bill generally is around 275 pesos. After a few years here you will cringe at the thought of having paid 4000 pesos to CFE.
I am your neighbour, people keep bricks to lift the furniture during storms
That makes perfect sense. Thanks neighbor!
Hi guys,
I have been following your CZcams channel about Merida and Progreso as we come here often..
We booked an Airbnb in Centro for a month but we are not impressed. We would like to find something else.for future trips and were wondering if we could contact the managers of the home that you rented in Merida.
Are you still in Progreso?
I enjoy your videos and we are friends of Paulette and Mark who we will contact while we are here.
It is too hot for Paulette,I know but we travel through Mexico a lot but always gravitate back here.
My husband did a video with them about a year ago called Larry and Diane.
Thanks guys,
Diane
Thanks Diane, We used a company called Safehouse Merida. They were very responsive and great to work with. We just landed today in Playacar for 7 weeks and then we are off to Tulum for 7 weeks.
Thanks for the kind words about our videos. Gina does a great job putting them together and she just keeps getting better. I think I remember that video you mentioned with Marc and Paulette. They are great!
If something is going to hit your carousel kind of want it to be butterfly’s and not rocks. . In Alberta you need to replace your windshield almost every summer because they use gravel and stuff all winter and early spring on the snowy frosty roads.
So very true Laura. A good hose job and they are gone. Not the same with gravel.
Do you want a colonial home? Has it remained cool in the rooms without AC? Shopping been good?
There are a plethora of homes for sale here in Centro Christi. Some just need a little work, some need a whole lot. But you can see the potential in so many of them.
The word should be car followed by you. I hate spell check
I know, it is maddening.
Still no air fryer in your Airbnb? We're gonna have to bring one with us😅 Enjoy your stay😊!
I would say so. This is our 6th Airbnb, and still no air fryer in any of them.
