China has increasingly dominated headlines as a growing economic superpower whose growth and foreign policy are rapidly restructuring international politics. This head-to-head debate will consider China’s place in the world, whether the balance of global power has tilted towards China, and what the true nature of Sino-British and Sino-American relations are. Has China won? What does winning actually mean for China? Our two speakers will consider these questions and more as we explore how China is remaking the modern world.

Such question is funny. I walk the street and most people walking the street are neither my friend nor foe. Why anyone must live in this world with only friend and foe? Could we live our own life and let others live their own lives.

And China only has 280 nuke heads back in 2000s, while British have over 400 and France have 350. None of these two nations join Russia and United States for nuclear agreement, but yeah, it’s all China’s fault to not join Russia and U.S.
    If there is boarder issue, it must be British;
If there is internal issue, it must be CiA.
If British really want to lecture China for human rights and international law, starting with return the treasure you stole from China since 1840’s; if British want to tell us China is doing horrible things, I suggest British read their own history, not in English but those wrote in other languages and then tell us who’s been the bad guy.
    This is ridiculous

Freedom? Does Americans have true freedom? Every 4 years, Americans were given 2 rotten apples to choose from! Do you even know how much money was spend on the 2020 election? Total 2020 election spending is $14.4 billion, more than double 2016′s sum! $14.4 billion for rotten apples? What an expensive rotten apple!
Is America even a democracy? It must be a joke to say that Americans have freedom! After choosing 'Brandon' over the loud 'Trumpet' with a price of 14.4 billion, US is faced with a historical inflation! After Americans had voted, Americans had no more freedom to choose the country's policies which were to favor the top richest 1% and the powerful lobbies! Even foreign countries who pay lobbies to sway US policies have more power than average Americans!
US is now a plutocracy and it is a joke to say that Americans had freedom! Freedom only belongs to the wealthy and those in power, but not the average Americans!
The 'American Dream' is now a nightmare, and Americans only have freedom in their dreams! When they are awake, they goes back to nightmare! The lives of Average Americans had decline for the last 20 years! Exorbitant healthcare, failing infrastructure, heft student loans, living paycheck to paycheck! 4 millions Americans are going be homeless soon and 1 in 7 Americans kids are going hungry! What a bloody nightmare while Americans keeps pointing their fingers at China and Russia for their own problems.
US's infrastructure is so bad that even developing countries like Thailand and Malaysia had better infrastructure and subways!

Obviously respect of territorial integrity and order over chaos are at the core of Chinese and Russian thinking and dialogues. Making sure that they do not feel that they are fighting to protect their National Sovereignty is obviously important. Setting Ones Own Policy boundaries even if powerful enought not to adhere to such is WISE. This in Fact applies to ALL and Not Just one or another. Some may be more sensitive because of prior historic Experiences. However, Defensive Actions are Always More Determined and Resolute. I would Advise "Wise Reasonable Global Leadership". Oh gee I wonder why anyone would want to interact with a country who has ensured the prosperity of countries in the US and Europe and by providing cheap labour and a massive domestic market for trade,
Are people like you delusional or silly? We deal with Saudi Arabia who are much worse on all metrics by the way and have actually committed genocide as said by the UN in yemen with US military weapons and US logistical aid,

I keep returning to this debate because these are two of the best experts who've ever debated Western policy on China, but one thing Pillsbury keeps saying is totally wrong. He keeps pointing to China's "genocide of the Uyghurs", which isn't correct, there is ideological reeducation of the Uyghurs because ideological uniformity is important in non-Democratic countries. How ironic he says China should "respect their Muslims" when he was part of the administration that had a "Muslim ban" on all Muslims entering America.

No, human beliefs do not determine outcomes. God's Sovereignty does.
I'm not suggesting that we have no agency, but it is limited in scope.
We prosper in ways which really matter when we cooperate with His purposes. The greatest of those, so far as we are concerned, is the salvation of human beings.
(John 3:16) 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.'
What is 'moving forward'? Insofar as Time proceeds in one direction only, we cannot avoid 'moving forward'. The universe changes irrevocably, even as we sleep.

There is some truth in that. (I live in a multicultural yet Anglo-dominated society.) But the same criticism could be applied just about anywhere, don't you think? People are naturally self-centred. Cultural insularity and chauvinism express that tendency. So does grasping imperialism.
None of which are alien to China today..........
On the other side of the coin, we should not accept all influences and practices indiscriminately, as though Truth did not matter. Indeed NO human culture is a reliable yardstick by which to measure Truth.
However the WORD OF GOD is such an indicator.
Though written originally in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, though it tells mostly of events which happened in the Near East from 4K to 2K years ago,
