- Showing you how to change the Shimano Freehub on a DT Swiss EXP Ratchet Hub to the Sram XDR Variety. Super simple and easy! For reference this is on a Royal Rapide CLX II wheelset. #sram #roadbike #roadbikelife #dtswiss

Thanks for posting Mitch! I'd like to upgrade the HG Ratchet hub on my Roval's CLX32 Rapide wheel. My 2017 Specialized S-Works eTap Red 11 spd has a Shimano HG free hub body that's burnt orange colour & not black like yours, however it looks identical inside to yours (DT Swiss microspline). I used to live in Edmonton & got my bike parts from Revolution there or Ridley's in Calgary. Now I'm out east ~ Toronto area & not sure where to source one of these DT Swiss HG to SRAM XDr driver conversions. Where did you get yours for the Roval CLX Rapide?
I checked the link below btw & it said product nolonger available. Bunch of retailers in US have these, I'm not sure about 🇨🇦
If they are DT Swiss internals, They shouldn’t have to be a roval branded product. Any compatible DT Swiss freehub would work… I would try one of the online shops
@@MitchOnTwoWheels just to verify so I should have no issue using the Ratchet EXP driver on my 370 hubs right? Spech said I need the Ratchet LN driver but the EXP was available locally and seems to work fine to me.
When I read the manual, it shows them using the red washer and put it inside the hub and works with the spring. I think you’re supposed to pull it from the old hub and insert it into the new one.
Can you please share what it sounds like when you remove some of the grease?
Just a little louder overall :)
Yes, otherwise the spring will be pushing rubber seal instead of the actual bearing. Also, you can get Specialized Freehub XDR DT240 EXP directly from DT Swiss. The part # is HWYABL00S5401S and will save you $80.
@@Paul-sk2pc Yes, I guess this wasn't mentioned.... it should be fairly obvious when taking it apart, as it will fall out of the driver. But I suppose it should have been mentioned.
Hello, the red washer goes right through the hub and stops against the bearing? Is there a gap between the bearing and the toothing? It happens to me that the red washer moves laterally and the ratchet jumps when pedaling, could that be the problem
The red washer sits beneath the spring. It floats on top of the bearing cover… it doesn’t go through the hub like you’re describing.
I made it through the swap of the xdr body, but when I tried to install my SRAM Force cassette, I did not want to go all the way on, it seemed to get stuck and I did not want to apply a lot of force for fear of damaging something on the brand new wheel. Anyone else have an issue installing the cassette?
Make sure everything is greased… and also twist the body against the direction of engagement gently.
@robertswan8546 Did you find a solution for this? I am having the same problem. Cassette won’t go on all the way.
Does the new XDR driver body (grey) snap in at the final position, when you put it on the axle? I can somehow only get it on, but not clicked into place.
Try turning it backwards as you push it on.
I have a DT Swiss 370, Ratchet LN upgrade on my Roval C38. What freehub would I use to convert for my 12 speed sram?
Your best bet is to ask your shop. To upgrade the ratchets, you just need the ratchets themselves. Not a new freehub.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels do I need to change gears to convert to XDR freehubs?
for the newer 370 hub you need this driver, Ratchet LN HWRAAM00S9721S. (the one being used here in this video will NOT work)
@@cyclingfan1981 I have a new set of C38s dt370 and just put the EXP driver on and everything seems fine to me… is there a reason I need the ratchet LN over the ratchet EXP? The exp driver was local so I grabbed it
Hi, Do you have the link of that XDR freehub? I just bought the roval rapide CLX 2 that I need to change to XDR, TIA👊

No spacers red?
Yes. Use it.
You forgot to take out red spacer from shimano body and install it on xdr body. That’s why the ratchet wasn’t engaging.
Yes. It’s common sense and covered in the comments a dozen times 😂
