- The Mueller scrapers make the cleanup and ridding of old gaskets insanely easy while preserving delicate surfaces!
New series we are starting out with! In this video Todd and Tim talk about our favorite scraping tools to get the job done right on multiple surfaces. We talk about which scraper we use for which application, including super expensive magnesium chain boxes. If you have any questions or comments on what you do differently please share!

This was pretty helpful. Thanks guys.
Glad to hear it!
Would you use the carbide scraper across an entire aluminum head or block? Or is that simply too risky?
My main use would be to clean around the edge of the aluminum head or block where dirt has baked in on areas where the gasket does not cover the mating surface...
The problem I have with the razer blades is that even if you don't gouge, you end up with microscopic scratches from dragging the dirt around under the blade...
Carbide bit you’re using? Would it work on aluminum mating surfaces like intake/exhaust without damage?
It's all in how you use the tool! We personally have had great results using it for that exact application!
@@Olsenspec Thanks. Just curious how clean the surface had to be for an exhaust manifold. Just smooth to the touch good enough or does it have to be super clean and shiny?
Would these be okay on headgasket residues on engine blocks or heads?
It sure would!
I work on cast iron blocks and heads. I use that SO scraper they were using for the initial clean up, then a carbide tipped scraper. That's it for cleaning the deck and head, other than the wipe down, bolt and bore cleanings. It does a super clean job at getting everything off and ready for the straight edge.
That guy seems like a spectacular shmuck.
