Oh thank goodness for this. Do you know how difficult it was to find an audio version of this book? Truly appreciate this and the internet right now.
🙏 I’m happy to hear your appreciation. All the thanks belongs to Plato and the Good though. I’m just a servant. Enjoy the book, and I’m glad you found it!
This is the real benefit of technology. Many thanks indeed.
Indeed it is! You are very welcome 🙏
Hey Lewis how are you? Just wanted to say you're one of my favorite channels so far. You put the text on screen for us to follow which is a great bonus! Thank you 🙂
I’m very well! Glad you are enjoying the channel. Have you seen my other one where I read books live? Here it is, there are many other books there:

Thank you for this series. I have always wanted to take the time to read these classics but having them read to me means my hands are free to do other things.
This first one is a perfect illustration on how to put an arrogant fool in his place!
Glad you found the channel, and have found a way to read these wonderful works. They are so amazing and deserve multiple readings.
This young man seems VERY impressionable.
i hope the hos on tinder be this impressionable
Never thought Socrates would sound like a lager lad lorry driver.
Slick Dissident sends his best.

Happy new year ~ ~ thankyou.
My goodness, thanks a million.
You're welcome! 🙏
Excelent narration. Bravo!
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Great read and thank you so so much Lewis. But I did not see this in my complete works of Plato. Initially I thought it is the same with Epinomis. May be mine is not complete
Thank you so much!!!
It's my pleasure! 🙏
When attributing concepts found in the platonic dialogues. Do we attribute them to Plato or Socrates?
I always attribute them to Plato. He is using Socrates as a mouthpiece. In my opinion.
@@lewiskirk8289 Knowing nothing of course when I first studied this fifty-three years ago, I attributed your "concepts" to Plato, and the integrity, the goodness, to Socrates. Unlike the Gospels, written centuries after the events occurred (or didn't), I assumed Apology had to resemble somewhat the conversations that had occurred, if not that day, on that topic. For example, the Socrates created in a young girls' head would have never have disparaged theatre (even just to make a point), I remember arguing heatedly at 15/16 for a distinction I had entirely invented.
“Speak I must, then.”
🙏
Thank you Lewis)
Your most welcome. I aim to do more. Get Plato out into the world.
@@lewiskirk8289 I hope you do!!! I put philosophy on pause for a little while, i'm prepping a huge psychotherapy video playlist at the moment (for rus channel), so i probably wont start again with philosophy until at least a year from now. I just want to have everything ready, so when time for philosophy will come I will dive fully into it
Thanks
You're welcome. 🙏
Thank you so much
You are very welcome! 🙂
@@lewiskirk8289 you help me lot

did you ever have hippias major or minor??? i can't find them
I haven’t produced those yet. There are a handful of dialogues I still need to do. I would also like to read the Republic, live over on my other channel, Book Club.
@@lewiskirk8289 ok and have these platonic books had a bigger impact on you than any other?
For some reason this one seems quite a bit different than the other ones. Almost comical

I got sent this because I said I wanted to marry a furry
Ha ha. And what do you make of that?
@@lewiskirk8289 I am now interested in other dialogues, I have come to the conclusion it was only an emotional desire not fueled by logic. However I have started listening to another dialogue. I am wondering whether this action I want to do shall cause harm or not.
The bigger question is why I'm thinking about this as a 15 year old. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
In this episode, Socrates seduces a young man with facts and logic.
5:00
18:00 you’re always sure you know what justice is. At what point do you not know what justice is?
25:00 how do you learn from people in general without learning from a particular person?
28:40 argumenta ut vestimenta
38:00 some answers to questions can be known for certain and others can be known without any doubt (where it makes no sense to speak of a doubt: cf. LW’s Blue Book/On Certainty)
Wait, so the greaks we're homosexual?
Homosexuality didn't exist in the past. It's a modern concept. But was there same sex love or same sex sex? Of course. All animals including humans, that are sexually dimorphic have same sex partnerships.
“Always have been.”

Where's your mom?
Foundational work of western philosophy and civilization:
First sentence: gay
Exactly!
It is a very contemporary and simplified way of phrasing the matter, but it is a solidly correct conclusion I believe.
Anyone who tells you homosexuals are not a critical part of the western canon is either misguided in their knowlege or misleading to serve an ahistorical agenda or both.
