I used to work with a girl who had one of these and when she drove into the parking lot, she looked a million dollars, like a movie star, with her long blonde hair.
Loving the XJ40, as well as the Series 1, 2, 3, X300, X308, X350 & X351 ! 😆 Ah, was just going to say that the Sovereign model shouldn't have 4 round lamps. That was just for the entry-level XJ6 and, later on, the XJ12. Those AJ6 engines are bomb-proof, so shouldn't give you any grief. As with nearly all cars of that era, it's rust that's the killer.
The grille is a mega easy fix. The vanes are just held in by 4 small cross head screws. Remove and the rusty looking spot using T Cut. The chrome bumper “blades” can be removed and if painted & sealed underneath it will stop the chrome from bubbling or lifting. P.S. Check the condition of the radiator lower mounting bracket. Ford changed the front valance design meaning it holds water against the bracket and rots it through. The bracket needs to be thoroughly painted & rustproofed and the black plastic part of valance drilled numerous times to ensure that water drains properly.

These are such nice cars and I really do want one badly. Here in the states to find a good one is hard these days.

Looking really nice that. Well Done! The MPG is TD5 standard, it's okay! best get that gearbox oil changed.
Thanks. Oil's next on the list. Just got to get disco finished first.
Eyden’s of Coventry will cut you a key from a photo of your one. I had them do one for my XJ40 and it was about thirty quid.
Nice one cheers
