    You all know about the European Union which is a political and economic union of 27 member states. We often mention it on this channel, and by now you probably know why it's AMAZING if you have an EU passport. It gives you access to all the member states, meaning that you can live and work in any of them without restrictions.
    But are there any other unions like this? YES, there are! Even though they are not as famous as the EU, there are several other unions in the world, which allow citizens of member states to freely move and work in all the countries in the union.
    Today we are talking about CARICOM or The Caribbean Community. This community consists of 15 member states and additional 5 associate members.
    The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is a regional grouping of Caribbean countries that includes: Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Haiti, Montserrat, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago.
    caricom.org/member-states-and...
    You will notice that all the Caribbean countries that offer Citizenship by Investment are members of the union.
    Citizenship of one country will give you special benefits in all the member states, meaning it will be easier to move or work in any of those countries.

    Every day this channel brings new options. Does ASEAN have a similar option for residence holders (I know it's difficult if not impossible to gain citizenship for ASEAN countries)?

    I would love to do one of these programs; sadly, I simply just don't need a Caribbean passport and $150k is still quite a bit of money.

    Does Caricom have any sort of alliance or connection with any of the African island groups or nations such as Mauritius or the Seychelles? Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated - thanks!

    Can US citizens trade individual stocks listed on the Switzerland Stock Exchange(not interested in ETFS)? How would that work when it is very difficult for US Citizens to open a bank account in Switzerland? I would assume they would need to convert USD into Swiss Francs(CHF) before buying shares. What brokers let them short individual stocks listed on the Switzerland Stock Exchange?

    • @OffshoreCitizen
      @OffshoreCitizen  Před 3 lety

      You can buy Swiss shares from a US brokerage account. As an American it's hard to open a Swiss bank account. You don't need to convert to CHF though you could

    So then, what is the benefit of paying 150k+ in St Kitts for citizenship when you could pay 100k in Dominica, then move to St. Kitts on the CARICOM Treaty and get the same tax benefits as someone who is a citizen of St. Kitts?
