And headphones -
And said it’s on -
Went to the basketball court -
Shot 15 straight air balls -
Did this, had enough of putting up airballs and put in more strength and air balled over the backboard for my 10th straight

Sharing my notes after watching 5 steph curry videos straight:
1. Feet - don't be squared up, about 30 degrees turn
- shooting hip, elbow, shoulder are all aligned to the basket
2. Don't plant heels, stand on balls of feet
3. One motion shot - never break the plane of your forehead (behind and then forward). Ball never pauses.
4. Shotline - right side of body through his eye brow to the basket.
- left hand shoots the ball into his right hand
5. Set point - When fingers point toward eyebrow release, in front of face
6. Middle Finger Release - middle finger directly center of the ball
. Last finger to touch ball is middle finger.
- palm rotation. From side of the ball and rotate it as you reach your set point so that palm behind the ball
7. Guide Hand - some coaches say fingers facing ceiling the whole time, wrong
- Guide hand flicks toward the basket (optional thumb inside)
8. Arm extension
- Completely straight after release, locks out. Wrist snaps
Drill 1: Bounce ups
- bounce above head, 2 footed hop into jumper, dip
Drill 2: Pick ups
- ball on ground, outside dominate foot, shoot it toward hoop in one fluid motion
- avoids 2 motion shot
Drill 3: Transition pull up 3's
- dribble toward 3 point line with inside hand, pull over ball to dominate hand
- for right hand, brush elbow on hip bone
Drill 4: 180 3's
- spin ball to self, hop catch, locating, aiming
Thank you!
Thanks man !
Thank You!!

oh hey james barden
Steps unclear: I've grown a beard and now have started to take more steps when holding the ball
and the ref’s didn’t call foul on other people
And now is more fatty then EVERR
Thank you so much for this video!! Filled in all the holes in my understanding of his jump-shot and helped a lot! Especially the tip about the shooting hand starting at the side of the ball when it's in the shot pocket and then it gets to the center by rotating the arm and wrist as the ball rises!
Very detailed and good, favorite part was the one motion shot because I have been doing a two motions. Really helped!
I gotta say i recently started to just go on court and play for fun, but my shots wasnt that good i watched couple of videos but it wasnt enough. I´m so glad i bumped into your video, this is exactly what i was wanted to see. Explaning all of these fundamentals one after other really helped me realize that i was doin almost half of those mistakes when i was playin. so thanks for this video and keep up the good work. PEACE( and u got yourself new SUB)

This is so helpful. I just noticed I drop my ankles first than the front of my feet and changing that helped my form and fluidity. Also, I noticed my elbow is too outwards. Changing those immediately helped my pull up a lot smoother in transition. A great tutorial! Great job.
the ‘heels up’ technique is my most important lesson. it stops me airballing all the time😂😂
i am almost 100....and have practiced for over 80 years without much progress shooting the basketball and improving my horrible form... but now with the help of this young man I can finally shoot like stephen curry...thanks a ton I can finally rest in peace!

AAlphaGamingAA if u want to be able to defend like harden just stand there then after the person that has the ball passes u and shoots and makes it then u try to defend
Love the switch up with this video. Pumped to apply some of this at my game tonight!
FInally! I'm glad you talked about the shot line and how Curry brings the ball to his right hand. Like many, I'm not professional player but have worked on my shot through the years and gotten it to a decent point. But I noticed I struggled at times with my shot off the dribble and with bad passes from teammates. I actually did what you suggested (using the left hand to bring the ball to the shooting line but not consistently). I'm gonna try it now and see if it improves my shot.
Some cutting-edge stuff, Coach! Thanks for sharing!
Thank You for this detailed explanation of shooting. This really helped me a lot and now I'm able to do with consistent 3-pt.
I've been trying to adjust my shot after like 11 years not playing basketball and I have to say that watching this video is helping me remember the process of shooting and how to do the motions and stuff here this really is going to help me in the future. Thank you so much.
You are so badass
bro really pulled a someone in a basketball shooting video comment section
Nice video, I will likely add the turn and shoot drills to my routine in addition to my usual step up, left, right, back and shoot. I think I’ve got a smooth shot, but finding that balance before pulling the trigger is key.
Thank you for this video. I remember watching it when it first came out and up till now its a good reminder on how the help with my shots.
this is his best video in years.better than his shallow, non substance short videos.
+name Lol well I like to think if them more as concise and compact...
+ShotMechanics no they're alright. but i stopped watching them. now this video is really good. i think because u show urself actually sinking shots, ur words gained more legitimacy.
+CJ831 exactly. i think this guy could 'corner' the market if he chooses to do so. there is this one other dude who does longish vids. the slightly mexican looking, sorta short and stocky dude.
+ShotMechanics can u please breakdown Brandon Jennings jump shot for lefties like me
+name Lol I can shoot, that's for sure ;)
You just blew my mind with that 4th step. I never would have thought to bring the ball TO my right hand in my shooting motion. That's AMAZING! It's going to take SO MUCH REPETITION to break that habit though, but I'm here for it. Thank you so much!
i dont know if this is sarcastic or not
Very informative, well put together video!
Thank you shot mechanics, this is really gonna help me with my shooting, where I went wrong and what I really should be doing. I'm actually playing for an U15 team and in training, shooting is one of these things I really have to focus on improving on. This is one of the videos that has really helped me understand how to shoot and what I should be doing in tomorrow's training session.
No problem
Something I love about basketball is that not every player shoots the same way which makes finding something that works for you so much easier cause nothing is the "right shooting style"
Man this breakdown is awesome, thanks so much! This helped me a lot... there's a lot to remember but I'm trying to apply all the tips.
i love your tips i used to not get enough power on my shoot to shoot from 3 but after using your tips on using your entire body on the shot i managed to shoot 4 in a row!! thank you

Thank you so much this has really improved my game of shooting
Make a ball handling break down on curry and kyrie and how they keep it on a string so effortlessly. I'm tryna get my handles sticky.
When you practice, pound the ball as hard as you can, it helps for muscle memory. If possible do dribbling drills with 2 hands and different speeds to really train your coordination
+Grand Lotus thanks broski.
+onemogain23 pound the ball man.. its fucking amazing , it feels effortless in game afterwards. pound the ball as hard as u can in practice , if ur not loosing the ball lile crazy than ur not pounding hard enough , the more u loose the ball in practice the better the results
+onemogain23 no problem man, anything to help another baller

One of the Best (If not the Best) shooting tips!
Great details. Very easy to follow and understand how this will improve myself.
You should make one like this but for Kyrie or Lillard.
Ps. Huge fan
Yea I would love seeing a blueprint for kyrie and lillard
+Bray and J gamez Thanks! Planning on it, was thinking Kyrie or Klay for the next one?
+ShotMechanics Both would be awesome!
Well I've always had a shot kinda like steph' with one motion and how I release, but I use more than one shot, the one motion release gives me way more range and arc, but I use the two motion on post fades and mid range shots. I'm thinking of only using one motion unless I'm in the post.
Yea same
I loved this video it really helped me become more like stephen curry when am playing with my friends.... my shots almost never miss

(Brace yourself... long ass comment)
about the guide hand... the guide hand isn't really primarily there to guide the ball.
From an engineering perspective, your 2 arms are on opposing sides of your center of gravity. Therefore, if there is a difference in kinetic energy produced in one hand over the other, this will create torque in your upper body spinning your body off-target
Your guiding hand should not only be providing "guidance" but should be providing "support/power" for your shot. Your thumb is EXTREMELY important in this. The more even the workload distribution between your right arm and your left arm, the better... which is partially corrected without even using the guide hand.
Self experiment: Try one-hand shooting (I'm sure you have done this before). You are likely to miss short (very short) and opposite direction of your shooting hand.
Most would tell you this is because you lack support from the guide hand... but that's not true.
Now... the second part to the experiment
Try one-hand shooting, but keep your guide hand away from the ball, but still fully extend your guiding arm (make sure you are not touching the ball in any way though).
If you have a good enough shooting hand, this may look almost exactly like your regular shot (almost...).
This is because the primary arm is heavier (because there is a ball in it) but the guiding arm is farther back. The final point at which your right and left hand are touching the ball, your left arm is at full extension and your right arm is only at 90 degrees.
This means in physics terms that the distance traveled (and therefore velocity and momentum both) of the dominant arm (UP TO THE LAST POINT BOTH HANDS ARE GUIDING THE BALL) is more than that of the other arm because the ball is in it... and it is exactly that which needs to be corrected by having your dominant foot forward.
Eventually (depending on body type) You need to find the perfect compromise for where the angle needs to be.
Sidenote: this can be corrected in the air by moving a foot forward and to the side to correct torquing, but that is a very precise skill... that Steph Curry has mastered btw.
If you are a small player, you will need more turn to offset the weight of the ball.
If you are a large player, you may need more turn to offset the shoulder tension that comes with being large.
If you are somewhere in the middle, you may not need much turn... but I still recommend using more turn than you need for strategic purposes.
You can correct your shot through moving your release throughout your fingers to suit nearly any shooting angle... but there are other reasons you need to be more staggered.
1. Your back feet is where your power comes from, and your back foot does the bulk of that (especially if you fade back). The farther back your back foot is, the farther your fade and the more powerful your straight up shot.
2. Your back foot also initiates in any pumpfake and drive situation. Whether you want to cross over, step back, spinmove, draw a foul, hesi, fake cross, or whatever, it's ultimately your back foot that creates any movement toward the basket. 2 feet exactly equidistant from the hoop means you either need to generate your forward motion from your heels (I'm sure you've heard the expression "got him on his heels"... that's bad... it means you have no way of creating forward or backward motion) or you have to pick up a foot and move it back so you can get some momentum moving forward (thereby telegraphing your intent to drive and forcing you to dribble 1 step earlier to avoid the travel call.
3. A staggered stance allows you to dribble between the legs (The most useful dribble in the game). The between the leg dribble is the most usefull for a lot of reasons... most of which are derivative of:
a- you have a position with forward, backward, and side to side motion potential.
b- Your dribble is going directly under your center of gravity, and therefore doesn't inhibit your speed in any way.
c- The ball is not too far forward and your leg is now an obstacle making the strip much more difficult (and costly for the defender if they defend too closely)
Between these 3 reasons, you are now able to between the legs dribble into a
shot
pumpfake
crossover
crossfake
hesi
drive
spinmove
spinmove to post-up
euro off either foot
euro handoff
stepback (either direction)
sidefade (either direction)
fadeaway (Dirk-style)
fade-fake to drive
drive-fake to fade
fade-fake into drawing a foul
and any combo you could name
Coaches say that being asymmetrical is a problem... but really it's not.
You simply need to have an option to beat the defender in any direction.
If your defender has to respect 5 things, you can use one threat to get you an opening for another opportunity.
If you have 5 things, you can just fake out your defender nonstop until you get something you will settle for.
From your shooting stance, you need
1. Respectable jumpshot
2. Respectable fade
3. Respectable drive
4. move left
5. Move right
Me personally, I have
1. a standard jumpshot... not that much vertical
2. a Dirk-style fadeaway
3. a spinmove to drive if the defender gets too close
4. a side-step fade going left (with threat of up-and-under)
5. a spinmove to stepback going right (with the threat of the up-and-under)
With this skillset, I can get up a good shot, pick up a foul, or draw a double and dish in 4 to five seconds every single time
I fully agree with that whole statement.
This helped improve my scoring from during the school season of 8 ppg, to in aau 17 ppg, great video.
The goat video; learned how to shoot from his 7 years ago and I'm back now trying to refine my shot from 3
