  • Every experienced car negotiator knows that the best time to buy a new car is to wait until the last few days of the month to score a hot deal on a new car! If at all possible, wait it out and do your homework just a few days before the end of the month!

    Exactly correct, it's a game and you have to play..
    so play it, and do same shit they do....one of em will bite
    Done this thru multiple purchases on trucks, motorcycles, etc.....
    If you want painless, non confrontational, and only spend 1 day at one dealer than be prepared to get hosed!

    they continue to email and call me...
    it's been a few weeks and they won't stop calling me!

    • @JohnDoe-pf6qp
      @JohnDoe-pf6qp Pƙed 4 lety +2

      November and December are typically the worst months in car sales. In a lot of country weather issues make car shopping not pleasant, so many upgrade buyers will wait until spring. Universally you're at the state of the holiday season and a lot of people don't want to drop a large sum of money on a down payment if it's going to interfere with Christmas. If you've had a good month in October it's not a bad idea to see if you can't line yourself up some deals for November.

    • @ryanshannon7703
      @ryanshannon7703 Pƙed 4 lety +1

      @@JohnDoe-pf6qp True story. Any potential inclement weather can really kill your sales, although when I sold I made the most on a car with slush in the streets and sleet for precipitation on a client that *supposedly* came in to have their nav disc replaced and I got them in on a trade-up on a $67k car. That was awesome. I made like, nearly $2k on that single deal. I got so much business on service it was ridiculous.
      But, yes, most people that buy during holiday seasons are those that are looking for 'farm truck' tax breaks (at least back in 2014)/commercial tax breaks, or the retired doing lease trade-ins/buys. Plus, that's usually when dealer cash starts flowing from the faucets to make the deals extra special!

And they’d buy my current car/ lease from the leasing company so they can sell it on their used lot and pay off my remaining 5 payments. November rolled around and the deal went to $405 per month and everything else the same as October’s deal. I’m supposed to be finalizing everything later today. As long as everything’s what they’ve been saying all should be good.

    • @camgere
      @camgere Pƙed 4 lety +1

      M = (P - L)/N + (P + L)*(R/24)
      Where
      M = Monthly Payment
      P = Price + Destination + Tax and Registration (usually does not include tax on Residual, discounted for trade in, down payment or rebates or other discounts) You could be asked to pay for various things separately, up front. The salesman won’t be shy about asking you to pay for this and that. Your down payment does not increase your equity in the car, unlike a purchase. It will reduce the payment.
      R = Interest Rate
      R/24 = Money Factor
      L = Residual (R is already taken)
      If you like to figure things out:
      (P-L)/N is the principal repayment
      P*(R/24) is the (average) interest per month on the whole car
      L*(R/24) is the interest on the Residual. They might not get the $25,000 Residual back for 3 years. Time is money.
      Yes, this is an approximation, but it was used for decades and is fairly accurate. Far, far more accurate than “guessing” what your brother-in-law paid.
      The first payment is due right away, not at the end of the month, like a car payment. Some obscure math thing.

I feel like, because i'm looking for something kinda rare that the stealership will have more leverage over the price of the car since they know what i'm looking for is hard to come by. Hell, they may even inflate the price because they know I don't have many options.

      @Kate B Depends on how long the car has been on the lot. They don't want to have to sell the car through the auction is that car is not selling and if the car has been on the lot at least 30 days there may be a way to bargain. It pays to look at Carguru and/or Carfax which can give info on how long the used car has been for sale at that particular dealership.

      I would think the dealership would be even more motivated at the end of the year - especially right after Christmas. Jan. & Feb. are the slowest months for dealerships as most folks are paying off their Christmas credit card payments and the tax refunds do not kick in until March at the earliest. Unless the dealership has met it's quota - after Christmas should be a good time to buy.

    You wonder how dealers make so much money? Just look at the number of views on this video and others from Ari, then you know why idiots are buying cars from Carvana and Carmax or walking out of a dealer paying retail or close to it. That cute cat video is far more important than getting educated.
    Ari's dealer to dealer method isn't BS. I've been doing it for years and it works. I was doing it before the internet when you had to physically go to the dealer for those pre-checks/feel outs, but I kept walking out and then come the end of the month, you could hear the desperation in their voice. Even pro's will tip off if they are in dire need to sell cars. Tone of voice, maybe a bead of sweat, if you've dealt with them, you'll see the difference in the way they act during crunch time. Always pay close attention to the demeanor and body movements, then when you go in for that last meeting, you'll know by looking at them and listening to their voice if they really need to sell a car. Like Ari says, time it out so everything happens at the end of the month.
    Finally, don't ever go in thinking: "Oh, I did my leg work, it's the end of the month, this dealer is offering X, but it's not what I wanted." No, you don't have to buy. Just keep doing your routine and work it thru to the end of the next month. I had one salesman so frustrated that he told me "nobody is going to match this offer. If you don't want it, then go somewhere else. I'm retiring in 3 weeks, I don't need the aggravation." I knew from seeing him 3 times, he wasn't kidding. However, I still walked out and waited for one of the 4 dealers on my merry go round to call. None of them did after 2 weeks. So, I went back to the retiring guy and bought the vehicle. Later, I went back to have my remote start installed and was looking for that salesman. Yep! He was gone. I had forgotten he said he was done. The service manager said, "Oh, he retired."
