I FINISHED the rear brakes...or did I? At least it's rolling again!

  • This week I finally get the chassis back to a roller! Come hang out as I get the rear Wilwood disc brake conversion kit installed on my 1975 Ford F150....well sort of. Turns out I ordered the wrong parts. One thing the Wilwood system has going for it is how customizable it is and how available the parts are. I was able to source and replace the incorrect parts so I didn't have to return the entire kit. That wasn't the end of my troubles, but you can't keep me down! By the end of this video the chassis is rolling under it's own wheels!

Things not fitting is the hobby. Looking good!

Damn! That truck sounds mean!! Vroom vroom!! 😂
I’m looking forward to seeing your process for shortening the bed. Seems like there are a few ways to tackle it…Interested in seeing how you lay it out. I’d love to convert my ‘66 F100 to a shortbed but I’ve got a LOT of stuff to do before that day comes…
Keep up the good work dude, it’s gonna be killer.

Just got the bed up to my shop and I’m already scheming! Won’t be easy, but it will be fun!

That’s exactly why I leave the mistakes in and try to explain them. Hopefully I can save someone else some trouble.

Thanks for all the videos you post they have been a huge help for me. Was wondering how i would determine the correct backing plate before i order my parts also do you happen to have part numbers you used for front and rear brakes. Im currently installing the qa1 on my 79 f100 and want to upgrade brakes

It’s great to hear you are finding the videos helpful! If you are using the QA1 conversion kit, you need a disc brake kit that fits 1979-1981 Camaro. I used the Wilwood Forged DynaPro Big Brake Front Kit, part # WIL-140-12836-DR. No issues for me with that kit on the front.
On the back, the measurements that are most critical are the rearend axle flange bolt pattern and the axle offset. Wilwood has a diagram of the site for the flanges just make sure you actually measure and don’t go off the drawings alone. That’s where I went wrong. For the axle offset you need to measure from the front of the axle hub to the front of the axle housing flange to determine the correct offset. Wilwood’s website has a “build a kit by flange” option. You pick the axle housing flange, wheel bolt pattern and offset and it should give you your options. If you get at all confused I suggest calling up Wilwood, they were helpful once I ran into some issues with the fit of the parts I ordered. Good luck with your build!
