    GREAT job on the video. The reason I was replacing mine is because of oil in the spark plug tubes. One tube was dry and the other three have oil in them and that means the gaskets need replacement. This was an extremely helpful video with the diagrams and the step by step of how to remove all the different clips that hold things on the cover. Bolts are kind of obvious how to take out - the various clips are more of an adventure. Thanks!

    Awesome video! Very detailed and I really appreciated the photos with numbers (for the 14 8mm bolts) and the photos of the bolts you were taking out when they couldn't really be seen on the video. I successfully changed the valve gasket cover on my 2009 Mazda 3 thanks exclusively to your video. Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this video! I just tackled this project over the weekend on my 2004 2.3 hatch. It took me a bit of time, mostly because I've never attempted a repair like this before. But, your detailed instructions made it simple. I had a really hard time getting the yellow plastic clips off, as well as some of the other switches. Mostly because my car is 12 years old with 170K on it.
    Another thing to note...five of the 8mm bolts came out the entire way, I'm not sure if this was supposed to happen or not. The others stayed in. Once all the bolts were removed/loose, the valve cover itself would not budge. I hit it with the rubber mallet a few times but ended up using the pry end of a hammer on the front right to get it off. Thanks again!!

  • @cleartruth101
    @cleartruth101 Před 2 lety

    That was a great straight forward and detailed video. The car looked brand new with not a spot of dirty. I know with an older car which is when a gasket needs replacing, can be harder and be prepared to get your hands dirty, bolts may be harder to get off, and the old gasket really needs to be stripped out (which sometimes requires scrapping and such, before the new gasket is put in to adhere properly. For sure that seal has to be tight. Anyway it would make for a more labour intensive and dirty job.

    Always disconnect the battery terminals before unplugging any other terminals on the vehicle, including the coil packs/spark plugs. If you do not disconnect the battery you have a risk of short circuiting other systems when you unplug connectors.

    great video! just one comment on torque sequences. one and two mixed up is common mistake. but first pass should not be at final torque as it can cause small pinches in your brand new gasket and prematurely wear. just a good tip to go 2 passes one at half. other than that you guys and gals. are awesome

    Hi there
    Great video
    I was wondering, I just did the rocker cover gasket myself, while you were torqing down the bolts for the gasket, did you cone across the 2 middle bolts bolted all the way down.
    That's what i noticed when I started to un bolt them from the start, as if they were bolted down all the way.
    So with the new one, I just hand tight the outside bolts, except the 2 middle they had to be bolted down all the way.
    Did you end up with the same results ??
