- I have officially switched roof top tents after 1.5 years on the road with my old set up. I have been using the iKamper Skycamp mini for the past week and a half through Arizona and Utah and am impressed to say the least. It is the first expandable mini hard shell tent of its kind and I am excited to test it out over the next few months. This video is short review of my first impressions of the Skycamp mini.

dood your content is so so so underrated the stuff you produce is incredible i'm a camping/overlanding nerd as well as cinematography hobbyist and i've got to say i can't find anything i don't like about your videos. your content is fantastic man the music the drone shots the visuals as well as audio it's all spot on and your storytelling/descriptions are just awesome I sincerely hope you blow up man, you certainly deserve it.

Great video, thanks for the info, it’s really helpful. I was looking at this for my GX460. My idea was to put it on a folding carrier on the hitch. Just unfold it behind the truck, and have a tent off the ground but don’t need a ladder.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, Rhino-Rack Backbone with Vortex cross bars. Main Line Overland in West Chester, PA just installed my iKamper Skycamp Mini. Its small and light, but roomy enough for two people plus a dog. :) I'm excited, thanks for your video, it helped in my decision making.

Great video, it'd be cool to see some drone footage of wherever you're currently recording (maybe as some b-roll) - assuming you can fly a drone in that area.
I wish I could have! You can't fly drones out at Alstrom point unfortunately!

Been looking for RTT for a while. I thought this is too expensive, but seeing this and other videos and reviews convinced me to get this one. Especially that they have now that annex available too.

I am looking to replace my ARB RTT with a hard top. I like the IKamper design because the side entry design has a rain cover over it. Almost all of the front hinged clamshell designs have a back entry (with or without a rain cover) but only alucab offers a side rain cover optionbut but at an unreasonable cost. Most tent reviews are shown in good weather.....no rain!!!

Very cool, love the slide out stove fridge. Im just getting started, do u think that replacement jeeptop/popup tent worth it? Or should i just buy a aftermarket one like this ?
Loved your video & review. Want to get a rooftop tent for my rubicon but still want the ability to remove the freedom panels went I want to. Would the tent fit with a smaller roof rack in a way that it would be possible to still remove the freedom panels? Also, I notice you don’t have an awning or shade. Do you find it unnecessary?

Nice work! Question - I saw that you said this iKamper Mini fit the Maximus-3 Pioneer Platform with the iKamper hardware... but want to confirm, did it do so with the 2.0 Brackets supplied with the tent? Just curious if they were able to reach the cross-bars on the Pioneer Platform without any special arrangement. Thanks!

Love the idea of off-grid camping on BLM land. Just wondering how accessible some of it is to RV's other than your Jeep. Love the idea of parking with a view similar to this in my RV!
It would be pretty difficult to get an RV out to that spot! Would not recommend trying haha. There are definitely a lot of great views out there accessible to an RV but I primarily focusing on getting to places RV's can't!

Can you pack it away with the rainfly on? Does the tent leak and get your bedding wet when you have to pack it away wet? What is your routine if you have to pack it away wet? Do you try to open it up and dry it off as soon as possible afterwards? Have you had any issues with mold?

Hi, so did the Skycamp mini fit with no modifications to the pioneer platform? Is the platform the most recent version?
Cool video, it sold me months ago. I bought the mini as well as the annex HI since I will be on the road full time with my dog. My first trip is in March before Easter Jeep Safari. What is the name of the location you filmed this at? I found the area but not the point you mentioned.
What are the weight limits for the ladder and tent? Does the ladder dig in to softer soil or slip on muddy earth? Can you use them on uneven or sloped ground? Or is your recommendation to park in as flat an area as possible?

Great review Drew. I have Mini on its way as well. Your review is the first I have seen with it mounted to a pioneer platform, which I also have. Did the mounting hardware from iKamper work with the rack or did you have to drill holes directly through the rack to mount it securely? Thanks

How are you finding the Mini a few months on and what made you buy this over the iKamper 2x. It looks like you have the rack space for the 2x and the weight is similar.

What about extra wind noise when on the road? Jeeps already have a ton of wind noise and I'm worried the rootop would just add to that.
