I think it doesn’t happen because odds are the Jets are given a better package than Barron being the key piece.

barron is very underrated. look at the goals he scored while on the third pair an barely any pp time. id give back the jets 1st round puck and barron and offer that. essentially two late firsts for mid round first.

Barron could still become a very good defensemen. He’s got good size, skating and offensive upside. I’d prefer the Habs keep him unless they get a very good prospect.

MCGROARTY !!! upside ---- playing wise yes.
    Attitude - hmmmmmmmm !!
Hasn't played one game in the NHL and dictating (pretty well) that he wants to be assured a top 6 forward position or he's taking his ball and bat home !!
Jets (as many other teams) have already had experience with players that think they are "IT".
Hopefully Jets will send him and his "Ugh" attitude on its way.

I'm sure McGroarty will be happy to play for Montreal. There is a vacant top 6 or top 9 spot to be earned. He will be given top 9 spot from get go and it's up to him keep the spot. I would do this trade, something like Barron + late 1st + another B prospect (Heineman as sweeter) for McGroarty. I think it is a package Jets can't refuse.
