    I also put Wildpeak A/T Trails on my Forester Sport and have about 30k on them. Great tire. We occasionally get a lot of snow where I live in Washington, and I have always felt very confident with them. They're not as good as a winter tire, especially when it gets really icy, but they definitely do a lot better than the OEMs. And even in the winter, I spend more time on mud and dirt than snow, and most of the time on pavement. The tire does great on every surface. It's an excellent balance for me.
    Your Forester looks great btw.

      Thanks! Yeah I think they have a good balance for different situations. Being from Southern California I’ve learned there’s a difference in what’s acceptable for snow tires here, is completely different from the Midwest or back east. lol. Glad you like them as much as I do. They do a lot at a great price point.👍🏾

    Just put these on my wife's Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. I've heard nothing but good things. After driving on them just a few days, I can say they feel great on dry pavement. Quiet, good ride, good cornering. We'll see how they do in wet and snowy conditions (I'm sure much better than the stock tires we replaced).

    When I found out Falken made a 3PMSF-rated mild all-terrain tire specifically tuned for unibody vehicles, it was like they finally acknowledged that Subie drivers exist.
    But what keeps them as my default choice of tire for my Subaru Outback XT is that they offer it in 225/55R17 (stock size) AND have that size with a V-speed rating (149 MPH), which is EXACTLY what my OBXT needs.
    Compared to other all-terrain tires, they handle hard cornering very nicely. I've even gotten rotation from them when I've tried to, and they've felt predictable doing so. Just like you, it has taken my Subie everywhere and anywhere I have wanted to go.
    Though, for my Subaru XV Crosstrek, I plan to give its competitor in 225/55R17, the Nitto Nomad Grappler, a try. The Nomad Grappler tires aren't V-speed rated like the Wildpeak A/T Trail tires in the same size (not suitable for OBXT), but they are H-speed rated, which is suitable for the XV.
    It's interesting to see other Subie drivers come to the conclusion the Wildpeak A/T Trails are highly-suitable for Subaru's crossover vehicles.

      I usually like to try different things, and not get stuck on one, but that’s where I am with these tires. I’m stuck on them. They haven’t given me any reason to try any others. Price is right, performance is right, and the quality is right. In my OP they hit a home run with these tires.
      But, I would love to get an update on those Nittos after you get some time on them.👍🏾

      I have a 2024 Crosstrek Sport. The OEMs aren't great. I'm in the SE, snow is a non-issue. 95%+ of my driving will be on pavement. I might look at these, but leaning towards CrossClimate2s for their rain performance and dry pavement handling.

    • @Lucrativesoldier
      @Lucrativesoldier  Před rokem +3

      Yeah, that’s something we don’t deal with here in California. It took hearing from a few people who live in places where it’s constant snow in the winter, to know you need a true winter dedicated tire during the season.

      It's one thing most people haven't talked about with these tires, handling vs. whatever tires they replaced. I'll be replacing new OEM continentals known to be dismal in snow, and we get lots of it. I drive rather spirited and also want a tire which has good handling characteristics, and again, few have really discussed this when talking about these Falkens, so thanks for mentioning it.

      @staciecarverd8136 Před rokem

      @@Lucrativesoldier Well, there really is no replacement for a dedicated snow tire, and I've owned them a couple times.
      I will also argue a lot has to do with the vehicle and drivers skill set, just as much as conditions.
      I've owned vehicles which even with snow tires were a nightmare to drive in winter, but I also owned 2WD trucks with simple all terrains which went everywhere. With the '89 Cavalier I owned there were several times I plowed through snow which was rolling up onto my hood, and it just kept going. I never ran snows on that car either.
      BTW, I grew up south of Buffalo, we deal with storms and deep snow quite often. I also learned to drive in it in a Chevette on all-season tires. They were tanks in deep snow.

    Off topic a little bit but the topic of road noise comes up a lot in the conversations about tires and I just have to say Subaru has done an amazing job reducing the cabin noise..it’s very well sealed off and probably the only Japanese car I could say that about.

    Love my Falkens at3w, on my second set. The price has gone up, but haven't really seen any others that I am willing to change to. They've handled everything from daily driving, mud, sand, snow, rock crawling, and your general unmaintained back roads.

    • @SSO_Media
      @SSO_Media Před rokem +1

      @@Lucrativesoldier I heard when they originally came out, as to help promote them they were dropped in price, and now they're more or less at where they should have been.
      I drive a Tacoma, ran 265/70 R17s, and swapped up to 285/75R17s. Honestly, I don't really notice it, there is probably some. Usually have music or podcast going. With the trail and road rash they've taken, I'd take a little noise over something quiet. My last set had a few plugs from nails, cuts into the sidewall (nothing deep), and even a few treads that got ripped off while crawling. Got about 55k before I jumped up a size. Depth-wise, they had at least 10k more miles on them for daily driving.

    • @Lucrativesoldier
      @Lucrativesoldier  Před rokem +2

      @@SSO_Media I’m not sure, but I know when I got my first set, they were quite a bit cheaper than the competition, which made it an easy decision to try them. Now I’m hooked, and didn’t even compare the price of any other tires. Lol
      But like you, I will agree, it’s not often I’m riding around in silence, so road noises don’t bother me. I know when people compared the forester to luxury SUV’s, they talked about road noise. And for me, it was something I didn’t notice until then, because I always have music going.
      Also, I swapped my tires after about 60-65k miles, but they still have some good amount of highway mileage left in them. Because I swapped the wheels too, I was able to keep the old set mounted on the oem wheels.

      Thanks! Well I will start by saying, I gave up on worrying about mpg.😂. Right now I probably average about 20 mpg combined city/highway. Considering the rims are a bit liter than oem, the added weight of the tire is almost equal to oem. I think the Prinsu plays the biggest part on mpg. Wind noise increases quite a bit. But it’s very functional, and I’m ok with the trade off. The Body Armor 4x4 bumper and winch add quite a bit of weight, which I’m sure effects mpg also. It has the iron man 2” suspension lift, which I’m loving, and makes this vehicle even more capable. I will also say that I’ve gotten a bit more aggressive on the gas pedal.

      I've run these in the pacific northwest (also rainy) and they have a little less traction on wet pavement. I believe that's one trade-off of all terrain vs all season. Wider gaps between lugs means a little less rubber making contact. Those wider gaps should decrease hydroplaning though. I don't think it's a reason to pass on running all-terrains if you need them, but extra care on wet pavement is advised.
