    One of the best things I learned from this channel is to realize equity on the flop and not get cute with it. I have top pair top kicker I just bet 3/4 pot, pot or more. It’s polarizing and straightforward with the goal of not allowing my opponent to outdraw me.
    Also the AK diamonds in the tournament example where hero raised to 2k. That preflop bet sizing is too small. I would have gone with a 3 bet or more. The goal is to eliminate players with junk and pressure the BB especially when the blinds are larger deeper intro the tournament.

    Can you barrel on disconnected medium/low boards to represent overpairs? Like we can fold out 2nd or even top pair bad kicker on like a 825r board if we are the preflop raiser or 3 better because we are going to have all the TT+. This is sound logic? Also on boards that turn into 3 of one suit, like Ah5h4c9h. Do we need not need protection from single heart holdings if we hold AK no heart. Or what if the board is AhKh4c9h?. Lastly, if we do hold some back door draws, does it make sense to barrel then turn our hand into a bluff?

      FLUSH ALSO GET TO YOU BUT AT LEAST YOU CAN SEE THREE OF THEM.
      FOR COOLER YOU HAVE TO SEE AT LEAST 2 AND GO BASED ON THE BET SIZE.
      NOW ONLINE YOU GET 3 SUITS IN A ROW AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. THAT WILL COMPLETELY TAKE AWAY WHATEVER STRATEGY YOU HAVE. AS SUCH THERE IS NO SHUFFLE IN COMPUTER AS IT IS JUST PICK BASED ON RANDOM GENERATOR.
      NOW THEY HAVE AUTOMATIC SHUFFLE TO AVOID THIS 3 OR 4 IN A ROW OF SAME SUIT. THAT MEANS THE SHUFFLE WAS BAD OUT OF 13, IF 3 COME IN A ROW ON TOP OF WHAT OTHERS HAVE THEN IT IS A PROBLEM.
      THIS IS VERY RAMPANT ONLINE. I DONT KNOW HOW IT IS LIVE. BECAUSE OF HUMAN SHUFFLE IT MAY NOT BE THIS RAMPANT. ALSO THEY BURN THE TOP CARD AND IF IT HAD AN ACE BY CHANCE IT IS GONE.
      ANOTHER SOLUTION LET SHUFFLE BE AUTOMATIC AND MACHINE BE THE DEALER. WHEN IT BUTTON COMES UP IT WILL CALL FLOP AND TURN WITHOUT BURNING THE TOP CARD.

    On the AJ6 flop we should be continuation betting with all our hands because we have a range advantage compared to the BB. And whenever your betting frequency is high you should look to keep the bet amounts low. You should increase your bet percentage when the frequency of your betting drops. So on this board, a 30%-35% bet amount is where you want to be. If the flop was A67 then your bet frequency would drop because the board is starting to favour the bb and so out betting amount should increase to betting 50% pot. A board like 965 would be even worse for us and our frequency would drop even more so when we did choose to get we would use a 75% pot size. That’s how gto determines bet sizing… it’s related to how frequently you bet which is based on if you have the range or nut advantage

    I had the craziest AK hand on Friday night. 1/3 nlh. I had a tiny bit over $500 in my stack. I'm the CO and have AhKh. A new player just sat down in the bb. There are a couple of limps when it gets to me. I bet $15. The bb 3 bets to $55. Folds to me and I elect to 4 bet to $180. Then the bb rips it for $500 effective. If it was AKo im just calling his 3 bet. But its suited. So I make the call. The board runs out QT829. No flush draws. I'm thinking I'm dead. The bb is waiting for me to table my hand and I point out that he was the one who went all in so he has to show first. He announces he has 6 high. I'm thinking it has to be a slow roll. Maybe he has 66. So I say "I want to see your hand before I table mine. I don't want to be slow rolled." So he gives up and shows 56o. I couldn't believe it. I won an all in pot with A high.

Surely if we 4-bet KK and get called we're way ahead of the BB flatting range??? And for 100BB don't we just call it off with KK against a jam?

    I play daily at a live game with very little 3 betting, and its almost always AA, KK, QQ and AK, but AK is a little rare. Preflop raising is quite a bit looser, but there is a lot of folding to 3 bets. Which kind of sucks. Yesterday I faced a late position raise from bigger stack that generally plays pretty tight, never raising middle pairs, pretty much AJs and up. I made the decision to flat with AKo in the BB for a headsup flop. Flop came A82, with the ace and 8 of hearts. I held the K of hearts. If I had 3 bet preflop I probably wouldnt have gotten more than one extra bet out of her after the flop. Since i flatted, it worked to cap my range and she called my check shove immediately with AJ. Clean runout and a quick double up.

    Honestly as a former Las Vegas resident and weekend poker with buddies guy... I play A K about 30% of the time. I just don't think it is as strong a hand as most people think it is..... Then again if I've been drinking I AM the idiot that goes all in before the flop on Deuce Seven so what the fuck do I know!🤣

    Ok, this confirms that my AKs I lost tonight was in fact a bad beat. Playing 1/2 NL holdem, my first hand at the table is AK spades. I 3 bet pre in the CO, action folds to +1. He calls. Flop comes A-10-6 rainbow. I lead for half pot, he calls. Turn is ace of hearts, 2 hearts on board now. I bet pot (around 100). He calls. River is a 5 of hearts, backdoor flush gets there but find it very hard to place UTG on a draw. he has only $40 behind and I jam on him. HE SHOWS 4 6 OF HEARTS. He was calling all streets with 6 high and a backdoor draw. Like, should I ever be backing off on the river with top trips??????????????? How the hell does he get there. Oh well, I ran it back up and left positive $200 like I alwyas do.

    I came SO Close to Torching my stack preflop at the Casino yesterday. I was up against AA. The little voice in the back of my head stopped me. No One Four bets in 1-3 without at least KK and 9/10 times it's AA. A few hands later the villain doubled me up in a 1100$ pot when I had KK. Patients Pays Off..

    Are we absolutely sure that AK with no diamond is a call on this river? Our opponent can have A2/A9, all combos of 87, and most flushes. Do we really think that our opponent is betting AT or A8 for value here often enough that we are good 25% of the time? What are the bluffs? 74? 76? Our opponent can't be floating naked Kd on the flop can he? I would much rather call AcJd than AcKs.

    Regards getting all in preflop with AK and having only 40% vs JJ+, AK…
    Obviously that’s not good. But isn’t that failing to factor in the hands your opponent folded? If you shove and V folds a bunch of hands worse than JJ+/AK then you’re picking up a chunk of money uncontested.

    • @marksimpson2321
      @marksimpson2321 Před rokem

      So you pick up say 15bb 75% time, and are crushed and lose 100bb most of the time you get called...

    • @JohnSmith-nx7zj
      @JohnSmith-nx7zj Před rokem

      @@marksimpson2321 I mean obviously it depends how much you’ve already committed to the pot at the time you’re opting to shove, remaining stack sizes etc.
      But 40% is hardly “crushed”.
      If you open for 3bb, BB raises to 12bb (giving a 15bb pot) and then you shove all in for 100bb, you’re losing 17bbs on that shove in the long run.
      But that only happens 25% of the time. 75% of the time you win 12bb uncontested. So in the long run it would actually be profitable.
      That’s not to say it’s optimal. Shoving 100bb into a 15bb pot is clearly absurd.

    • @marksimpson2321
      @marksimpson2321 Před rokem

      What's in the pot is not yours. Pot commitment is bandied around too much to justify hugely - ev plays. If you play against tight players who rarely play less than AA-QQ and AK Nd maybe not even all of those, you're burning money.

    • @JohnSmith-nx7zj
      @JohnSmith-nx7zj Před rokem

      @@marksimpson2321 it’s not -EV though. I just showed you it’s not.
      And I don’t know why you’re telling me “what’s in the pot isn’t yours” as I factored that into my calculation.
      Obviously if V is only calling with QQ+/AKs then AK will do even worse so that would change things.
      Personally I wouldn’t generally shove AK except vs maniacs, but if you do and get 99/TT/JJ to fold that’s actually a good result.
