Disk brake caliper tool is useful to turn in the caliper. If you open the brake line additional bleeding of the brakes would be required. If brake lines are not opened you will generally not need to bleed the brakes.

You didn't show how you got that set screw out. It is a real bear after 60K+ of driving in the rust belt where the streets turn white from all the salt.
