Investing in a good chair is the best thing you can buy nowdays. People keep a desk chair for 3-4-5 years. Which means a lot of sitting in that chair. Spending 300-500$ on a better chair will make you avoid some hospital bill for your back down the road.

As a fat guy, the titan has been amazing. I’m not worried about if the chair will break like I was with cheap office chairs. The little neck pillow is a must, and the lumbar support is very uncomfortable for me. I went with the all black leather and it does breath, I don’t get sweaty. And now that I’m working from home, it was definitely a great investment. 9/10 donuts.

Nice Review! For new buyers it’s important to know that the 2020 version upgrade is really _huge_ in quality, especially in case of the PU leather, arm rests/metal parts, foam pillar, aso. Though I would recommend the Softweave version, itˋs much more pleasent under hot _and_ under cold conditions. In addition it simply has more „grip“.

I've had the softweave version for a year and a half and it's been really good. I'm a skinny tall guy so I went with the titan and I've never felt it was too firm for me even though that's what I complain the most about any other regular chair. This summer was one of the hottest and only at certain times would I feel like I was sweating a little too much and would take a quick break. The material seems the same as the day I got it. I believe it depends on how well you take care of it. There's no tears or anything. My biggest complaint would have to be the armrest where they can feel a bit flimsy but I believe the 2020 version fixed that issue.

  • @harryschonfeld8175
    @harryschonfeld8175 Před 3 lety +1

Just bought one, a Titan XL. Nobody told me that sweat and skin contact is bad for the PU leather chair. Until I read the maintenance sheet that came with the package... Well, there is a simple solution. Cover the chair with a wool plaid or a cotton sheet. That will allow for breathing in the contact area. Remove it when not in use and wipe the chair dry if necessary. Had it less than a day so I can't really say what I think about it. Except that my chronic back pain has eased considerably just in the short time I have had this chair. The firmness of the seat is a bit on the hard side but since I weigh in on 280 lbs it might be a good thing in the long run.

I bought the MyoChair and returned it - willing to bet the ErgoChair 2 has similar issues given the overall shape. If you're looking for something that'll keep your back straight and upright, the ErgoChair won't do it. The lumbar support is really nice, but there is no upper back support. I found it worked better with a desk that had a keyboard tray, but I don't regularly use one, so it definitely wasn't for me. The angle it forced me to look at when leaning back in it was too high vs. where my monitor was. Just some fair warning - they have 30 and 15 day trials in the US and Canada respectively. Keep your original box or otherwise you can't refund it.

I just made the dive and picked up a 2020 Titan with the "SoftWeave" cloth. I do not regret it at all. Very glad I went with the cloth and I think it would fix your sweating problem if you could go back and change which chair you have now. It definitely supports me better than any chair I have had previously. I'm short for the Titan but I weigh too much for the Omega and it works out well.
I actually really like the head pillow, it's very comfortable and being able to move it around helps a lot. I kind of wish the Titan came with a lumbar pillow. I couldn't get the adjustable lumbar support to work well for me so I'm using a pillow. Will probably get a nice looking memory foam one sometime, but right now it's the same one I was using in my old ratty chair...

I've very happy with my Titan SoftWeave Fabric chair. It arrived last month, and have been using it daily for work at home, and gaming at night. It's a very heavy chair. It also feels super sturdy. It's surprisingly stiff. I went with the Softweave for a couple of reasons. First, my last 3 chairs were made with that fake leather material. It feels and looks nice at first. But that lasts only a few years. But it will eventually peel in these tiny fragments. Second, my cats liked clawing and peeling off the fake leather fragments in tiny bits at a time. Think of it like a thick vinyl coating, that when you peel off you have this intact naked cushion. You can still sit on it, but it looks terrible. So far my cats don't seem to be that interested in this Softweave chair. They act the same towards our fabric couch in the living room.
It took me about 20 minutes to assemble the chair myself. All the tools you need are included. Although I had a minor issue that the left side of the chair does not look like the left side pictured in the 1 page instuctions, nor the video. "Why does it look different? Is it missing a bracket?", were my initial thoughts. I emailed their tech support, with pictures and got a response within 12 hours that all was normal. They just need to update their video and 1 page to show the correct left side of the chair. I guess that part of the design got updated recently.
That said, I'm still super happy with this purchase. My 2 gripes are; 1 it is expensive. And, 2 the logo and lettering on the chair is a bit tacky. But you get what you pay for. And I can live with the logo and lettering. Glad to hear your chair is still holding up after 2 years.

I bought this Titan PU leather chair for my son who is 6’ 4” and 175lbs. He spends a lot of time in this chair. Within a year we had to discard the chair. Within 2 months the arm rest started to crack and plastic break off. We contacted Secret Labs and they replaced the arm rest. Unfortunately, the same problem happened with the replacement and also happened on the other side. The seat cushion also collapsed so it felt like you were sitting on a bar. We helped with this by putting a board between the cushion and bar. The swivel started to lean to on side. In the end I thought I bought a quality chair and it didn’t last as long as a cheap chair.

But that played a huge role( no pun intended )in my decision. The chair I had was somewhat comfortable, I had to buy all the extra pillows lumbar, head etc, but I still felt very sore after sitting in it for my 10 hour shift.
I felt like I was in a fight, achy and sore. Since getting this Titan, I still have soreness but nowhere near the amount as before. 10-14 hours a day behind a desk and pc is a long time to be sitting I don’t care who you are.

I'm 170cm 67kg and have one in cloth. This chair is really good for my back, I have space to wiggle and during summers in my easy 30+C room I have no issues. Would recommend cloth chairs to anyone since I bought this, nothing broke sofar, everything looks like day one and its been over a year. I sit in it every day for 8 hours +..
I've been recommending them to everyone that brought up looking for a new chair and will continue doing so. Some of my best spend money on a purchase on any product ever. Thats just how I feel about my secretlabs.
And as a sidenote, the packaging it was send in was verry solid, everything was really bubbled in really well, foamsheets covering fabric etc. I felt like I really made some really high premium purchase, and to this date the chair has lived up to that initial feeling.
But thats ofc my experience and my feeling about it.

I got the Secret Labs Titan XL 2020 Edition in the new Soft Weave fabric. While the build quality is superb and it got so many features and settings this is still maybe the worst purchase i've done in years. Not being soft like a couch is an understatement. The chair is so hard I get pain after 2 hours in this chair, I also got some problem with blood flow to my legs if I sit leaned back for any longer period of time since the seat is that far out so it makes a pressure against the underside of my thighs. I did also find the lumbard support being useless since all that it does is putting a hard spot against my back while leaving my lumbard without any support at all. Tried my 3 years old IKEA Markus after been using this chair for 2 weeks and I somehow sit way more comfortable in that. I believe this chair depends alot on your body and height, but it is really stiff! Just wanted to point this information out since I see alot comments about how stiff it is, but all the reviews never complains more then mention it's abit stiff.

Some insight into PU leather. All PU Leather eventually peels. Its the nature of the material. I have had three PU Leather chairs, from three different manufacturers (Not secret lab), and all have inevitably started peeling. The average time til the peeling starts is about three years. After the third chair I swore off PU Leather forever and decided to go fabric. The fact that your chair started peeling after two years is not a good sign. This is most likely due to the sweating and hot/humid environment. Both of which can expedite the peeling process. I'm sorry to say that its going to get worst over time. Just for some context, my first desk chair that i ever bought (i currently use as a back up chair), which is fabric, looks as good today as the day i bought it. That chair is 27 years old. To replace my last PU Leather chair, I also went with the Secret lab titan, but went with the soft weave. Awesome chair. When you replace your chair, and i'm sorry to say that you will be replacing it, go with the soft weave. Its comfortable , its breathable and you won't be replacing it in three years. Hope this helps.

I also have felines and they don't scratch my gaming chair for the following reason(s):
    A) I have a thick bedsheet (not blanket), but bedsheet that drape over the chair to prevent dirt and body sweat from permeating into the fabric. Plus, it serves as a buffer in case one of my felines does decide to put up a paw on the chair.
    B) I get two or three scratching posts and a five foot length cat tree inside my room to keep my kitties occupied and thus, something else to scratch their paws on.
Applying A) & B) solutions as stated above has resulted in no scratches from my felines. I also scoot them away from laying down on the chair as I want to define clear boundaries where they are allowed and where they are not allowed. Felines scratch things as a normal relaxing part of their routine and thus I discourage them getting comfortable around my gaming chair (& computer, for that matter),

I don't think the flaking is your fault. It's just part of the territory that comes with faux leather chairs. Mine is faux leather too and it flaked after a couple years of ownership. No matter how much you baby it, you can't avoid the fact that you're putting 100-200lbs of pressure on the surface and moving around. Even if you had saved the edges from flaking, the center of the seat will eventually start flaking. You have that to look forward to in year 3.
As for your room temp issue, have you tried a box fan in the window? The fan would be loud enough to keep people outside from hearing you, and I reckon RTX Voice could remove the noise pretty well from your voice audio, if you've got one of the RTX cards. Just my two cents.

    • @FracnoTV

Yea I’ve come to the conclusion that PU leather just isn’t for me. I’ve made a follow up review video on the newer model SoftWeave Titan and it’s so much better. Check that video out.
The heat isn’t nearly as bad anymore now that the temps are cooling down. It’s quite comfortable these days. I had a fan in the room before and the windows open, and it helped a bit but it’s still warm. I’ve tried RTX Voice with my 1080 Ti but didn’t like it. In the new year I plan on building a new PC which will not only have a 3080, but I’m hoping it will run cooler as well.

    @danmorgan4934 Před 2 lety

PU leather / faux leather (fake leather) is known to degrade over time with skin contact and in humid conditions generally. If you want to reduce the risk of that happening over time, avoid skin contact where possible. Or just buy the softweave version of SecretLab's newest Titan (Evo 2022) model.
You will have to be more careful to guard against spills and stains with the softweave material, and it should also be noted that the softweave editions of SecretLab's Titan chairs have suede accents in a lot of cases, which definitely do not react well to fluids. You can however offset this with some suede waterproofing spray made for shoes (ask the missus!). The softweave fabric will almost certainly last longer than PU, and if pilling develops, a quick run-over with an electric fabric razor (like the Remington Fuzz-Away) will solve that in no short order.
There is a reason the PU version is the cheapest model to buy. It's because it's the cheapest to make, and is the cheapest in quality of the range as a whole. None of them are 'cheap', per-se, but pay the extra and get the softweave one over the PU one if in 5 years you don't want to have to be buying a new one (yet again). And if you absolutely MUST have leather, well save your pennies and pay for the NAPA leather model. That one is proper natural leather (AFAIK), and will last a lot longer than the PU one, you'll just have to offer up an arm or a leg, or maybe a kidney to buy it, lol.

Before I got a gaming chair my set up was my bed, a wall, and a pillow for back support. And if I got lucky I got to use a lawn chair. I always felt uncomfortable and I was constantly adjusting the pillow cause it was compressing under me but it worked. Luckily for me my dad saw this and felt bad that I sitting up against the wall(I know, first world problems) and got me a chair, now this was the only gift I got from since this chair was over a $250 dollars last I checked. The rest of birthday was my mom and grandpa giving a hundred dollars each nothing else. The chair is a respawn 110 model, it’s a really awesome and comfortable chair that I use every time I sit to play games. The leather is really nice and yes it can do that thing(pewd fans will know) the back support is immensely great and the neck/headrest is great. The leg rest is very convenient and I didn't even know I wanted one. Overall, it doesn't do anything to improve your gameplay but it's definitely better than a office or lawn chair.

In any case, in general i like how PU looks, but it is a bit slippery and doesn't breath (makes me sweat XD) even leather in some cases is not awesome for long periods of skin contact... I have found that the alignment of the backrest and base is questionable at best. The armrests when adjusted to the exact same position do not line up with the backrest of the chair. One is touching the backrest and the other is about an inch away. I do like the head cushion and the packaging of the chair when it came was good. The instructions were easy to follow for assembly. Overall, is it worth the price? I would say no and I probably wouldn't buy another one in the future. I haven't really considered the return process since it sounds like an absolute headache judging on other people's experiences.

Have this gaming chair, lasted slightly after two years before the leather starts wearing off probably from the hotter climate i am live. Once it starts cracking, it just doesn’t stops. They offered me a replacement of the back rest and seat base for $$$ though... the new leather felt so much comfier than the older before 2018 series.

There is a SoftWeave fabric that was introduced. Not sure when that came out but it makes it more breathable especially if you run hot or don't have A/C.

Yo, I also had this chair for 2 years. I got the all black PU version back in sept 2018. My room is always dark and usually cool. I don't really sweat much even on this chair. My leather has held up rather nicely over the years, only a few wrinkles here and there. I saw some peeling on this guy's chair, and knew what happened when he said that room didn't have AC. Don't get pu leather if your going to sit in such an environment as this was also a problem in a lot of south east asia places. I just triple checked my chair, there is no tearing leather like yours, and a good chunk of my free time is spent on this chair.
My one complaint would be the older model's armrests being wobbly af from the plastic parts over time, but it seems as if they fixed that in the 2020 series. Another small complaint was that my bony butt felt slightly uncomfortable at the way back of the chair due to less foam on that side, and I offset this with some back pillows. That really is more of the nit picky things though, overall I'd say it does justify the $399 price, however, it's not packing any further value. If this was $499 i'd say not worth but it's priced pretty good for what the overall experience has been for me. No pains from sitting so much over the years unlike my previous el cheapo chair (couldn't sit longer than 30 min before pain).

This is actually helped a little thabks for the review! All up between working and gaming I sit in my cheap ikea chair for around 10 hrs a day.
Due to a motorcycle accident I already have a notoriously horrible back, but my current chair jist puts my back in pieces.
Very much on the ropes whether I want to spend 650 Australian Dollars on the secretlab chair or not and reviews like yours definitely helped!

8:15 Not to go into detail, but the reason they had to mention that stuff was due to people who use these chairs while streaming on adult oriented streaming sites where there may be more skin and liquid contact with the chair.
I feel gross typing that, but now you know

I have the GT Omega Pro, with no built in lumbar support. It uses a pleather covered cushion for the lower back. The beauty of it is that it can be moved about. No idea why but sometimes I want it lower and sometimes higher. Like the headrest cushion though, we are built differently so cushions can be moved. Built in lumbar can't be moved up and down, but it can be moved in and out. Whereas the GT Omega chair's pad, is always the same depth.

I've got the same chair and where i sit, behind my knees has peeled and the same spots as your chair too and I never cross or tuck my legs either. It's the PU leather itself. The new stuff is meant to be far harder wearing supposedly and that's why they implemented it.
I'm actually chasing us a reupholsterer up at the moment as the bum part has separated from the inner foam (In part thanks to my cat and his bloody claws) with some cat scratch peeling. I've also ordered some self adhesive PU leather from Amazon (for cheap) to stick ontop of the bum part if the upholsterer is too expensive.
The base costs $136.40 AUD from secret labs as well with the new material.
And that's the best part about these chairs, you can get stuff fixed and it won't cost you an arm and a leg to do so!!
I love my Titan and I especially love the stitching and branding all over it compared to yourself. I think most of us do but personal preference as you said.
I'll update with the outcome of which ever 3 ways I went to repair the base (bum part).
Maybe this can also be a solution for other owners of our model and be a cheap and high quality fix for them as well moving forward!

some things you should know before ordering. You have to pay for return shipping, and disassembly requires a pipe wrench and a rubber mallet. They don't tell you the actual dimensions of any of the stuff needed. The pipe wrench needs to be large enough to get enough torque to remove the piston from the seatbase, but you need to have one with narrow jaws or they wont fit in the narrow space available to grip it. I now own 2 pipe wrenches I don't need. It's kind of a pain in the ass. Also, I'm 6'3", 230ish lbs and the placement chosen for the lumbar support makes absolutely no sense for the body dimensions of anyone tall. The lumbar support is located far too low, too close to where the seat and back connect, pushing against where the sacrum would be instead of the lumbar area. I promise you that nobody over 6'0 has a lumbar area of their back so close to their tailbone. The design decision not to allow for vertical adjustment of the lumbar support makes even less sense in this respect. There's other chairs in the same form factor at the same price point that at the very least pay for return shipping. Regret not just buying a steelcase or aeron on the secondary market.

    • @FracnoTV
      @FracnoTV  Před 3 lety

Thanks for sharing. I know I recently spoke to someone in my Discord who was able to return their chair for $75 through SL. It sucks to have to pay anything at all since it's so hard to shop for a chair online, but with a lot of chair companies I'm seeing this trend. I don't have any experience with the Steelcase but I will say that I seriously doubt an Aeron would feel good for a tall person. I personally hate that chair so much. The lumbar support feels like a brick in my back. Either way, I hope you find something that works for you and I appreciate the extra insight on disassembly as it's something I haven't had to do yet.

I have the Omega. Definitely the most comfortable I've used personally, but I've never spent a lot of money on chairs. My only issue is the chair is only about two years old and there's tearing in the arm rest already, both arms. I wouldn't say I abuse or mishandle the chair either.

The sales of Secret-Lab support service is so slow but very nice, I think it's because of the overwhelming sales, in 5 years they generated
over 300 millions of sales. I've ordered the Titan Soft Weave, delivery is minimum 1 month. The big problem whit all chairs is that you can't try them before buying them and returns are a pain in the......! That's why wen you buy a Omega and should of bought a Titan or a Titan XL you are not satisfied. Thanks for your review.

I think the soft weave is a better choice as for reliability and breathability, I personally can not handle my $400 chair start to peel after just 2 years, i am just to cheap that way...lol. I think spend a little more to get Herman Miller or steelcase as they have 10 to 12 years warranty may make more sense in the long run.

Leather on chairs unfortunately lasts around 4-5 years before peeling excesively. After 2 years this looks ok but I believe next 2 years will show you that this will peel a lot. After gaming sessions you will see it under your chair :(. It's nothing that manufacturer can do I believe - this is just the leather thing. Had the same with similar chair. Had to replace it after 5 years because it looked like naked without the leather/skin :(.

So this was my first expensive chair. I have the Batman Dark knight edition and lets just be honest.
The Pros, bragging rights you have a secret lab chair. The Batman design. The head cushion. The size and the shape.
The Cons it has wheels but hardly rolls. more times than not do I go to push out and my feet slip and jam my toes into desk etc. Every time I stand up real quick my chair begins rotating and when I sit back down its on the arm rest and its not my floor. The arm rest are wobbly, noisy and don't even line up. worse on my room mates. My left armrest cover is cracking along the side from my elbow weight, I'm only 165lbs. The seat cushion is so hard you cant sit in it for more a few hours we both had to buy an additional cushion to sit all day (covid) and my newest tragedy my lumbar popped and gave out. that was the most important feature. I haven't even owned this chair a year. I also have not yet contacted them about warranty. I'm sure that's gonna be fun. For now ill buy a lumbar pillow.
So I don't think this chair is worth every penny. its way over priced. like a Harley your paying for the brand name. I've sat and slept in a lot of chairs. I'm sure people that actually used this chair will agree. the ones that disagree are either promoting it affiliated or have turned a blind eye because they want to go on believing they have one of the best brand chairs money can buy. lol sorry and no.
