    Interesting review... what would be very nice is a deep tutorial on how you have your MK12 routed into your Apollo twin X. Questions to answer would be how one sets up a configuration for web broad casting, or for DAW use, Zoom etc. Perhaps a series. How the UAD console works for system sounds, how to add a mic to the MK12 have it go into the ATX but not be monitored if you use the ATX as primary speaker drivers etc.

    I love mine but had to replace power supply after five years. $150 Canadian for the part. It was easy enough to replace myself and now sounds good as new. As the old power supply was failing, first the interface stopped working, then effects processor, then it started making a pulsing hiss noise. But it’s all working again now after the part swap.

    Hey Brodie! Love that you dove more into this mixer. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a hybrid setup like this where you run a Mixer into an interface, bypassing the mixer's interface altogether. One question: Which OUT ports on the Soundcraft are running into your ATEM Mini? Are you using one of the Headphone outs and converting that to the 1/8" inch port required for the back of one of the Mic ports on the ATEM Mini?
    EDIT 1: Wow, just rewatched the video and you actually answer this.. it's the Group OUTs.. not sure how I didn't catch that the first time!
    As far as video ideas go, a vido expanding on running a Mixer with an interface would be awesome. With this type of setup you get so much customization.. I love it!
    EDIT 2: I would also love to know what chair you're using.. seems nice and low-key but professional looking

    Fact 6 to 10: this unit does not have a power switch (an odd item to leave out, really) and if you leave it run too many hours, the power supplies tend to fail. I just replaced the one in mine. You need to have a power bar or furman or whatever to be able to power it down when not in use otherwise you will replace a power supply more often than you would like. Nice little mixer, some really stupid firmware quirks, but generally a decent soundcraft sound. Not as good as the older ones, but better than many.

    This is great, it's one of the mixers we have and we certainly love it but, wasn't really clear... what's the apollo for? Are you just running the master out of the soundcraft into the apollo? Thanks for the vid!

    You're really a wise man... Thank you for the video. ❤️ I would like to know more about using the board as an audio interface? Does it give a high enough output for the mics (like the notepad series gives very low signal through the usb). Is the preamp powerful enough to give a recordable signal without crossing 3 o'clock and introducing preamp noise?

    Hi Brodie
    I am thinking of getting this mixer. Just wondering if you can send internal effects of a microphone to an aux send for an extra monitor catering on for vocalist to hear himself excluding the main mix.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the good review!
    I currently have a soundcraft notepad-12fx, and it is almost perfect, but the microphone gain is REALLY low for some reason. According to the specification sheet, the notepad and the 12 MTK also have +60dB microphone gain. It is really strange, as I can get a much stronger signal from a focusrite scarletti 2i2 2nd gen, although it only has +50dB gain according to the spec sheet. AKG d5 and C414, with both microphone I can get a much stronger signal out of 2i2 through USB recording. Probably I can get a good deal on a 12 mtk, how is your experience with gain when recording separate microphone channels in a daw through the built in usb interface?
    (it still confuses me how the notepad with a higher gain setting(tried 3 different notepad) produces a lower signal than the 2i2)

    How are you routing this to get the FX live. I can only get clean signals. I’m trying to get clean for instruments but FX for vocals. Trying to use this to livestream. I’m using Reaper DAW.

    Hey people, I recently got the Signature 12 MTK. I am using it as my audio interface with Logic Pro X. I have a few synths that I am trying to record through the Signature 12 MTK via channel 1 or channel 2. However when I open a new audio channel in Logic (let's say channel 1) and hit record, the recording captures not only my synth running into channel 1 but also the entire master output! It's super frustrating. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    I just bought one of these. It has all the features I wanted. I'm thinking about sending it back because of the low gain. In the Soundcraft manual, it tells you to turn the gain up until you get a full signal. To do this, the gain knob is turned up to almost full and at that level, there's a lot of hiss. I don't get it. I had a Soundcraft EFX board that was tough, well designed and balanced. The gain knob on every channel was usually in the middle which is pretty standard for most boards. It seems to have a very basic design flaw.

      interesting. what mic are you trying to power? i believe these preamps are good for +60db of gain... if you're using a "quiet" mic like sm7b or similar... wouldn't be surprised if you needed to max it out, and in turn, would hear some hiss. honestly i do not plug mics straight into this board... they usually come in at line level already from other sources.

      you've made a good choice. shouldn't need a ton of literature, and a few hours of experimenting with it will probably give you the best value.

  • @lperry65

    I’m interested in one of these for use in my band, so live performances but also recording rehearsals etc. Most of the video’s seem to based on a podcasting use case rather than a live band, I’ve also heard that it’s not a 12 out mixer and that all the channels are sent as pairs. I would need to have at least all the XLR outs as independent mono channels into the DAW. Can you confirm that I can record separate mono channels into the DAW and not stereo pairs ?

    • @feinkevi
      @feinkevi Před 8 měsíci +1

      This is a great mixer for tracking rehearsals if the # of inputs fits your group, and yes you can use each input mono in the DAW. I have an overview video on using the larger Signature 22MTK for bands but all the same things apply, if you want to check it out - czcams.com/video/VC3yNXIZ3cc/video.htmlsi=lclPKPQpX0wHlczb

  • @BIGFLIPPA
    @BIGFLIPPA Před 9 měsíci +1

    DO NOT BUY - unless your prepared to do DIY work under the hood to replace the capacitors and fix the PSU which WILL fry your USB connection every now and then.
    When its not doing that it constantly gives 8k and 16k interferences spikes when recording the output again due to the USB.
    Put simple the USB is noisy and unreliable

    • @AFuturePresentation
      @AFuturePresentation Před 2 měsíci

      I have the Signature 22 MTK. I plug it into a power adaptor in order to power it down between uses. I don't have any issues with interference. Might you be able to EQ some of that out? I'm assuming it's a fairly narrow band.
