This is what we plan on doing with our layers the deep litter method. First year with the chickens here.
It makes for a very low maintenance setup in the winter. Good ventilation will help keep the moisture from their poop down.
@@Wilderstead thanks guys appreciate all the advice 🥚
Thank You!!!
Love it when you post👏👏👏
More comin soon!
Take care and stay safe
I really like that coop!
We got snow up here today.
And looks like a bunch more on the way!
What a guy will do for a few fresh eggs in the winter. But you folk make it look easy.
Gotta have those farm fresh eggs!
Really great video - has to be a large chore to produce something so enjoyable. Thank you for the update.
So glad i came by your CZcams channel. We're looking to relocate and manitoba looks to be where we'll be moving. So this is pretty cool haha
We lived in Manitoba for a couple of years. Wasn’t our thing though, so moved to northern Ontario which is much more in line with our goals and livelihoods. Good luck with the move!
@@Wilderstead thank you! We're looking to start homesteading and most of the country is out of our budget so that's got a lot to do with the location we're going with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated since you guys have lived in manitoba before.
Great see you guys back there eh! for some reason not getting notifications for your channel looks like I missed a few vids I'll go and check them out... thanks for sharing... I like your style of homesteading
Thanks Denis. Yeah, we took a bit of time off for the summer. Spent quite a bit of greatly needed time with family. Glad to hear from ya!
A couple of my Chanteclers have started laying!!! 10 hens for the winter (5 Chanteclers, 5 Ameraucanas), am just putting the finishing details on their winter coop and enclosed run (both in a large repurposed shed).
Beauty!! So nice to hear from you!!!
Great information, thank you for sharing.
Can you please share the link for water heater
I popped a link into the video description to the heated waterer.
@@Wilderstead Thank you so much
Happy to help!
Where did you get the awesome feeder??
Try to make a space in the rabbitery for chickens but we keep getting more rabbits! haha! We'll find a solution soon I hope
Rabbit math is just like chicken math! 😂
@@Wilderstead exactly! Minus the eggs

Hoping to get my Chooks going soon as
Any particular breeds you are looking into?
Pls provide the information on the chicken feeders - where can I buy it? Thanks
Hi Julie. Can’t remember where that large feeder came from, but the heated watered is linked in the video description.
Thank you for your reply. Darn I wish you could remember where it is actually what I am looking for.
If it comes to me I’ll let you know
Does the deep litter method produce bad odors in the coop & run?
