Apart from the weather and pressure of servicing bills, individualism is the problem in western world. People are busy facing their lives preventing them from socialising. But in a place with plenty of sunshine like Africa it's difficult to not socialise because the sun has influence on our mood. The sun inspires happiness and healthiness.

My ex called off our wedding and moved to the UK in January. Felt betrayed and badly pained that she was secretly working her way out of Nigeria while I was planning our wedding alone. Sis, I haven’t laughed so hard in while. 😂. I accidentally came across this video and boy you spitting out some truth. I live in Canada too. One of the problems with dating here is that a lot of people don’t show their true colors until you’ve dated them for a while. I got married in Ghana, brought my wife over to England and then to Canada. We’re now divorced. When women get here they turn into “I know my rights” and throw away all the values that bonded us together. I married a second time, this time a white woman. I asked for divorce again as she turned out to be my worst nightmare. I have stuck to my values, standards and principles of being monogamous, respectful and reciprocating in relationships but finding the same from a partner here is nearly impossible. I’m never going to get married again here because most women are not feminine, respectful and submissive. When meet them and they like you they will treat you like you are the best thing since sliced bread but give it a couple of months to a year and you will see the real person. As an African woman this is one of the things I love about being abroad. Having more rights and power to leave relationships that don't make us happy. African men flourish in cultures that oppress women and I think thats why so many of you are unhappy when you get to the west because nobody is submitting for the sake of submitting here.

Without knowing the background to the situation you already concluded that it’s about oppression. If that was the case why do every woman I left or divorced try to come back and some go to the extent of stalking me? Buy a dog and die alone. Remember women hold the key to sex but men hold the keys to relationships. You decide who to sleep with but men decide who they marry.

I live in Canada and that’s true. People are too serious and find it hard to socialize.
In Canada safety is a huge deal. Which I know is good but sometimes it can be ,taken out of proportion that it’s now perceived as paranoia. That I think is caused by cultural differences.
The problem is not about seriousness but lack of the author of Marriage, not LGBTQA+100😅
This lady is funny, I was laughing throughout. All your points are valid. The western world is a cold world. You will be in the bus or train or tram, everyone is quiet like they are in a cemetery. There is less human interaction here.

I think as a single woman, I would recommend internations group for you where you can meet potential single men from different countries depending on your preferences. This group is in about 100 countries and when join, you can attend events they organise every weekend to socialise and through that, people do meet their suitors there.

I am not sure why she includes Europe on the list, but her description of the dating scene in North America is spot on. People are becoming increasingly absorbed in their gadgets, often at the expense of natural instinct and common sense. A society that appears polite but feels fake and overly individualistic. The bonds of family and love-based friendships seem to be fading away.

We are economic migrants, for the most part. Thus our main reason for being here is for financial gain. Social benefits are secondary. While those born here might easily cope, those of us who are transplanted from tropical regions will have obstacles socializing. I agree with your point about how the time for meeting others is restricted relative to conditions back home due to the seasons and personal tasks like work and such. We become socially detached over time and begin to compensate lack of personal companionship with things material. In time we..or at least some of us realize material things will not compensate for social interaction and the need for companionship. It is then we come to the realisation that she speak's of in the video.

I came across your video by accident but I’m glad I did. I laughed literally from the second minute all the way to the end of the video. So funny but also because it’s all true.
I live in Canada and yes, finding a "meaningful" long term relationship can be challenging for men and women alike. I don’t need to add too much to what’s already been said because you’ve covered most of it.
The only thing I’ll leave here is that people can also consider online dating as an alternative to meeting people. I know it’s not for everyone but in Canada, you need to use all the tools in your toolbox if you know you have an objective. It’s hard to meet people out here. If you try it and it doesn’t work, you can leave it alone but at least you’ll know you tried.

I got into canada, was bored cos i work from home, i attended a small church, i got the tinder app, most people on the app are straightforward i think, they'll say what they want unapologetically and i appreciate that, went on few dates with weirdos, mostly no second date. I sha eventually met my husband, we wanted the same thing and we started dating without any promise of marriage, i told him all i wanted was to be one of his closest friends and vise versa, a year and a few months later we got married. 🎉

Facts….I’m in Germany and even talking to someone new is really hard because they call the police immediately on you if they don’t know you. Funny enough even my African sisters are not interested, because most of them are only interested in getting documents or someone with money. So it’s a double standard. The girls complain people are not approaching them, but that’s not true because they don’t see the struggling guys around them
In Europe there i raise hands for you guys. y'all just dey use each other for papers, survival etc( total confusion😩😅😂). Everything survival mode. No worry yr catapult go aim properly someday.

One of the problems is many women still expect suitors in 2023 to jump through a series of hoops and hurdles to try to impress them. That needs to change going forward.

After I got my citizenship and passport here some people were advising me to move to Canada 🇨🇦, I simply told them that am already tired of facing these long winter periods of Scandinavia where the winter starts from end of September and end up after March, all I want is going back to Nigeria 🇳🇬 my current or rather move to other European countries that have short winter period. Imagine me moving from Scandinavia winter to Canadian winter, is that not a suicide and from bad to worst. At expense of getting good life in western countries many of us have lost times, lost good whether that we enjoy in Africa to continue to live in these countries that have a terrible whether conditions

In Canada, winter starts at the end of September up to end of April ( yes 6 months) and people stick to themselves unless you have been introduced to each other by a common friend. Add high rent costs !
