Kongo was surprisngly comfortable to play. I went Sunni and used trade money to hire upgraded advisor to unlock tech and develop early.

In Africa (and SE Asia) it's actually a good thing if you DON'T get rid of natives for the massive bonus to goods produced thanks to the large population sizes even if you want to micro. You just have to pick the -50% uprising chance policy and grab the estate privelege that allows you to click the decision for another -50%. Literally the best of both worlds, set and forget and good colonization speed. It gets better once exploration and expansion are finished so you can pick the +20 policy without worrying about uprisings.

Oh my god, I didn't even know there is such privilege! Very good idea then, it also increases native assimilation. For anyone wondering it's clergy one, you need to have colonist to get it.

I would suggest allying one of the Great Lakes nations and letting it conquer all the other ones, since this would trigger the mission for them to colonize some additional provinces :D

I have never seen Kilwa leave Mutapa along that long :D
Usually its all Kilwa within like 15 years.

Yeah, it's RNG, I wouldn't say that Kilwa ALWAYS does this (sometimes they also go for Madagascar), but it's a possibility. Doesn't change much though, Kilwa isn't the toughest nation out there

Uh, kinda. It's more like it can change its religion through missions, it's not limited to catholic. It's definitely not as fleshed out as Kongo missions

The less influence the estates have, the more crownland you gain from conquest with the reverse being true also. He's not necessarily waiting for 50 crownland specifically, I don't think.

There is such thing as crown land equilibrium. To quickly get 50 crown land, total influence of estates should be around 60. After that you can just seize crown land once in a while to keep it high.

Probably shouldn't expand so aggresively until i bevome horde. Gotta get that sweet sweet raze.
The only rival would be European and Islamic Empire so if i were that big i will probably become monarchy.

I wouldn't say it's aggressive expansion. More like getting powerbase. It's like only 700 dev in 80 years (or 100, if you count me waiting to become horde).

the last bits of North Africa from spain is always such a pain in the ass because their stupid colonial nations also show up. i would much rather fight 1 single Ottomans than 10 different landings all over the place.

Eh, different strokes for different folks. I would gladly take fighting off naval invasions than Ottomans doomstacks. The problem here is war score, conquering whole Maghreb might take a few wars just because there is not many ways you can get warscore aside from occupying the objective (naval invading Mexico is the worst thing in the game IMO).
