    I took some lessons from John about 16 years ago when I lived in Seattle. Not only is he an amazing player, but he is an incredibly gifted teacher and a gentle soul who you just love to be around. He’s the Zen master of Jazz guitar imo, and though I don’t play a ton of straight ahead jazz anymore, his “outside” melodic minor tricks he taught me have helped me appear much more musically gifted than I would’ve otherwise sounded. Cheers John 🍻

    Beautiful 🤩 what strikes me is the amount of playing, studying and practicing concealed in these few minutes.

    Fantastic techniques on display. John’s picking hand just seems to float above the strings, even when he plays the fast passages!

    That's one very comfy looking guitar. It almost deserves to have a jazz tune named after it. "My One And Comfy Love"?

    Why is John’s guitar stuffed in a pillowcase?

    • @JamesSeaberry
      @JamesSeaberry Před 6 měsíci +2

      It folds up into 3 hinged pieces and fits into a shoulder bag. He travels constantly, and never has to check it. He told me who the luthier was, but I'm old and forgetful.

      @@JamesSeaberryThank you for the details I was so intrigued as well, so curious to see the folding in action

    • @JamesSeaberry

      @@BleedYT You are quite welcome! I am lucky enough to visit and sit in with John when he comes to the US East Coast, and I have seen his travel guitar up close; is is just a center post with tubes giving it shape, and the tubes are covered with fabric. There is no "body" at all to resonate! The sound is totally a function of the pickup. It sounds great up close.
