2003 Chevy Silverado Prerunner Bumper Build

Prerunner off-road bumper build for a 2003 Chevy Silverado. On this bumper, we used 2" x .120 wall DOM tubing. The bumper includes a main bumper tube with a radius bend on there as well as having the conventional skid plate. However, this customer wanted to have skid plates on the side as well. I never attempted a bumper like that so figured it would be a good bumper to document.

I made one these bumpers for 2012 Silverado and it left my intake vent in my passenger side fender well exposed and ended up sucking in water through it in heavy rain. Any idea on how to cover this vent without restricting too much airflow?

Sucks to hear dude! Hopefully you didn't hydrolock the motor. I did that on one of my old race trucks messing around at Pismo beach. Most guys will plate in the fender with sheet metal to keep the water out. I've seen some people reroute the intake inside is the truck but would only do that on a race truck application

Most of the tubing was 2" x .120 wall. for the outer skid plate tubes, I used 1.75 because I had to clearance part of the core support to allow the tube to hit the main bumper. Skid plate is 1/8' 5052 aluminum. Fine for the street. If racing, I would go thicker to 3/16".

I really don't know that answer. It was just done and matched up to the truck. No science behind that one. All eye balls! 😂
