- We always run into sick builds while we are out and about especially in the dunes. We ran into Del Dinauer with his very period correct 1997 Chevy OBS prerunner. He was kind of enough to let us talk to him and give us a breakdown of his fully built truck. He also let us get some bitchin action footage afterwards.

Big props for keeping the OG clip. That IS how it should be.
Paul Allegrezza Hell yeah. The OG clip is rad
can we get more obs builds!!!!??? things are sweet!!
“You don’t see this era much anymore” Must just be your part of the world. Up north here they are EVERYWHERE. I’m not kidding when I say my dad had one, I have one, my neighbor has one, and I see at least 3 more every day. Dime a dozen up here
They're a dime a dozen everywhere but everyone wants 15k for em
Everyone in the background just tryna let the bald eagles rip
tristin poole hahah 100%!
I had a '97 too. Such a fantastic truck. I had 312k miles when the head gasket let go. Threw new ones in and had it for another year or so till I got the Ecoboost.
I have the same truck this is good motivation for me to finish it 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Gribbles Garage do it! Don’t give up
Thank you so much!!!! I LOVE MY BAJA FAMILY!!! ONE BADASS OBS!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
🔥 got to love the OBS!
Leo Carrillo OBS is OG
i remember my first truck was almost an obs.. dude wanted way too much but it was soo clean, was on 35s, leveled, new gears, but was 2wd... somehow ended up in a tacoma
If only I lived closer to a desert my project would end up like this truck
This guy is gonna blow tf up, hes not cringy and awkward thats rare
One of the cleanest trucks right here.
My favorite year!!! Awesome build!!! And I see RBP stuff everywhere in Southern California
MR. REE yup! Dope build for sure
Definitely a sick build
Damn I remember first seeing James on a Dirt Alliance dvd way back in the day with his red truck. Soooo sick nice build brother
Its always awesome to know what ive been hoarding materials and ashtray change to build is actually possible and works well. Im doing a '98 GMC 1500. My dad bought it brand new in '97 and babied it the whole time. Never even been in a fender bender. Its 4x4 so its stupid torsion beam but all that is gone. Its getting a forged L33 with twin 72mm turbos, 4L85E, fully trussed dana 60 with a 4130 spool and triangulated link setup. I designed my own knuckle and hub setup, im working with a machinist thats an absolute geometry wizard and i will have zero camber change or bump steer with 26 inches of CLEAN AND TRUE front end travel, im going a arm with king 3.0 triples all the way around. Itll have a/c, heat, screens to watch terra crew videos, wifi, kick ass sterio with wakeboard boat speakers outside, tons of lights everywhere, and with 40s im hoping for 600 wheel hp and around the same tq on e85. If our math is accurate, the truck wont weigh more than 5700 pounds. Im building it to jump really, really big shit. No racing whatsoever, just a big horsepower, lightweight truck that i can jump the same shit i jump on my yz450f. Thats the goal. I already built the engine and trans, theyre both run tested, just n/a, but good to go and absolutely the smoothest, most free revving lower compression engine i have ever seen. It reall is a thing of beauty. Howard (my 72 year old absolute stud of a machinist with a 9 axis mill in his garage) webt through the block and opened up everything 20-30% over stock. So oiling and cooling will be extremely efficient. My crank is lightened, blueprinted, and balanced to absolute perfection. Howard even figured out the new harmonics and manufactured 2 harmonic balancers for me because of how much weight came out of the rotating assembly. Its going to really be something special. I have a very, very long way to go but, when im finished, ill let you cut off a finger if you do an episode on my truck. Ill drive out to SOcal from Reno just to receive that honor. Its a prerunner built by a 72 year old mechanical engineer and master machinist, and a 32 year old master BMW technician and engine builder. We have over 50 years of experience between us. Its going to change things i think. Just be patient with me. Im a perfectionist and obsessive compulsive so, i wont show it off if its 2 different colors. I promise everyone who reads this itll be completely done by 2022. We all waited just as long for season 8 of game of thrones, my truck is going to be a helluva lot better than that stupid season. Not the season when Geoffrey dies, that was the balls, but season 8 for sure.
Hey sounds great, did you finish the truck and post any vids?
@@Fervor2Germinate bro this whole supply shortage has fucked with me so bad. I had to wait 3 weeks for some 7076 sheet. They sent me the wrong hose fittings 3 times, fuckin bulkhead connectors came in damaged its been a nightmare. All the wiring is milspec so i dont have a choice on the connectors i have to use them. Then i had my shit on a trickle charge to ensure all the data didn't get lost on my dominator, fuckin lightning hit my house when i was at work and tripped the breakers, sent a surge through the charger and cooked my battery. Whoever wired my house is a fucking retard i found 3 grounds bro. Thats it for the entire house, 3. Its been one thing after another and on top of it my wife is pregnant AGAIN. Its too early to tell but it might be twins AGAIN. Fuck my life man i swear to god. Thanks for asking tho buddy. I swear to you ill get shit squared away and get some content filmed so you can see the truck. Just gotta get the thing done right. You know how it is. The last 10% takes the longest and thats where im at.
Definitely see a Hoonigan influence in the editing, good video 👌🏼
That’s my brother! I remember when this truck was just another 2wd Chevy pickup, now the whole back half is just sitting on a trailer.
88-99 chevys are my favorite. I like 2004 Silverado too though.
Man that 1st Gen Tundra in the back looking sexy as hell!
Nice truck.
Hell yeah this was posted on my birthday
My TTB swapped 97 tahoe should be out that way soon! 4 link should be done this winter, spring 2022!
0BS LIFE🤘
Love all the video's.. how many of these guys really build their own trucks tho?
Badass
Is a build ever really "finished" though?
Flying90 it’s NEVER finished
An artist's work is never finished, merely abandoned.
When you die it is
* done for the day *
I think so. At times you need to learn to stop, because you might be ruining it just by throwing stuff on it. So yeah a project should eventually be finished.
I gotta 98 2wd. Fab tech spindles and upper arms. Blocks in the back. This is what I dream of mine being. A mid travel, with the OG clip. My OCD wont let me shorten the wheel base. I want it to retain the stock locations for most things. I want it to be street legal, probably an LS swap. The Vortec was great, but it's time to upgrade. I've had my Chevy since 03. First vehicle I financed and paid off. Never gettin rid of it.
we need a obs meet in pismo
How do you not have more subscribers!!!
More videos of OBS please I have one and I love it in need more ideas to bud mine
FatMan951 for sure! We have another homie that has one
I really want to see a 4x4 kit for that truck...... so I have an excuse to spend money lol
I want my 99 tahoe to have a prerunner setup like this
🤙
I dont know if its just me or not but I wanna daily drive a prerunner xD
Not just u thats my goal
Noob question but how do 2wds not get stuck in sand? Or what if u accidentally head into a really sandy or muddy spot
Random question but what are the radios called that are used in the trucks ?
How do I get my 97 obs to this level? I don’t need something that’s Baja 1000 level. Just something to throw around in the desert. I have a 6” lift on 35s currently but that’ll break as soon as I try to jump it lol!
Looking to prerun my 95 c1500 hd, what kit is that front suspension & steering?
Got a 95 2 door Tahoe 4wd I wanna do this to any ideas ?
Just a opinion but maybe try and get the guest voice volume up? Can barely hear them. But amazing vidoes!
We need more bronco videos
Where the Fenders from?
Where can I get the kit again
What’s his exhaust setup?
Does anyone know what tires are those
Sick truck!! Could surly use an engine/exhaust, she's much too quiet ;)
Optic Voidd yeah, def can be a little louder
Looking to do the same on muy truck
Fu$)(n master piece 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Do you guys have contact info for Dirt Designs?
Is it 4x4 ?
Can we see the unfinished truck
Soon...soon.
Give it to me daddy
LOOK FOR AN S10!!!!!
Just go to a dezert dimes meet.
Johnson valley this weekend dezertdimes lots of s10 pre runners
The "og" builds are the best. It's the only I'd do a pre runner or lifted style truck for trucks around this era. The og builds just have that more simple, clean classic so cal desert look. Also I just don't like this big bumpers they make for trucks now...it's just 100% ugly.
Buy f150 is same body style as raptor..same truck.. except flair fender
Completely misused term
OBS.. everything would fall under that if it's not the latest body style
too much talk not enough stunts
