History:
This is the Happy Lewis Cottage built in 1949 by Harry "Happy" Lewis on Topsail Island. The house was the first oceanside house built on the island south of Surf City. It has survived countless hurricanes for over seventy years. But, sadly it will be demolished in two weeks over one simple issue: the septic tank is on the other side of the lot that is being subdivided. So sad, because the house is absolutely repairable. The foundation is in perfect shape. It just needs a new roof and new ceilings. The rest of the house is in excellent condition.
