@@davidpetersen8372the law of tithing was part of the laws for the 12 tribes of Israel. You have to understand the purpose of tithing. Once all th land promised was given out, the Levites did not get any land as they were the priests. Land was used to farm, livestock, vineyards and they were able to eat, trade and survive off the land. The entire purpose of tithing was for Levite survival. No where in the Bible does it say Gentiles are required to tithes. We are strongly encouraged to give. No where in the Bible does Paul require tithing when he preached to the Gentiles. He did ask them to put away money so they would be able to give. Also when the Jews in Israel were struggling the Bible says Paul bought gifts collected from the Gentile...not tithes.

To break one law is to break all laws and we are under Grace. Tithing is one law out of mnay and if you want to be under the law then put yourself under all of their laws and if you give cash its 30% not ten. Friend, remember that God's hand often moves in the darkness. You have had 15 people attending your meetings regularly. That means the Holy Spirit is hard at work in 15 lives, and He may use them to reach many others in ways that you cannot measure. Do not try to count the results of your work in baptisms. If you have given your time and effort faithfully to the Lord, then you may be very sure that its results will be multiplied in eternity. We are the workers in the field, but it is the Lord who is the Lord of the harvest. Press on in prayer, "and let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Gal. 6:9)
May God bless each one of you, and use you to reach many more souls yet.

To me pastor Doug skated around the question on Xmas. The caller stated it was pagan and Doug completely agreed ,but then went on to confirm the origins of it. Romans 14 in context is speaking of eating meat or not eating meat. Sunday keepers use it to justify keeping Sunday. We can’t use the same scripture to justify Xmas. Pastor Doug sums it up by saying if the world is going to keep Xmas we should make the most of it. To me this is a similar mindset to keeping Sunday rather than the biblical sabbath. I love pastor Doug but there’s some things I just don’t agree with.

I agree. If anything He was born about mid October If the 70 week prophecy of Daniel 9 is accurate to the day for His appearing. According to Jewish law a priest/prophet/Nazarite could not begin His public ministry until the age of 30. So Jesus' baptism in Oct 27AD would have to have been on or near His 30th birthday. CHRISTMAS IS A TRADITION NOT A BIBLICAL COMMAND.
TRADITION: an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (such as a religious practice or a social custom). (Merriam-Webster)
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”(Mark ‭7‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV)
MAKING CHRISTMAS A BIBLICAL COMMAND IS IDOLATRY.
IDOLATRY: the worship of a physical object as a god. Immoderate attachment or devotion to something. (Merriam-Webster)
    IDOLATRY IS A SIN.
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; IDOLATRY and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians ‭5‬:‭19‬-‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

IS IT WRONG TO CELEBRATE JESUS' BIRTHDAY ON DECEMBER 25th?
Since there is no conclusive evidence on what day He was born, we can choose to celebrate it on whatever day we might choose. The fact that a day used for sun worship was chosen is kind of a slap in God's face so to speak. Imagine your husband does not know his own birthday, but you want to celebrate it with him. You tell him that you would like to celebrate it on one of your old boyfriend's birthday because you really just want to forget that you used to celebrate it with him. Your husband would be like 'UH... NO!'
This is what we have done with Christmas. The church purposely chose an old boyfriend's birthday to celebrate the one true God's birthday. It's a slap in the face. Besides that, there is a day that is a whole lot more likely being during the celebration of Sukkot (or Feast of Tabernacles). Think 'God with us'.

  • @kerib.369
    @kerib.369 Před 7 měsíci +3

Another question i have regarding Christmas is, why do we celebrate Jesus birth on the only day of the year that the Sun God was born on? Ecclesiastes 7 Verse one states otherwise of celebrating birth anyways since the true celebration will be upon death awaiting the second coming of Christ who will give us our glorified bodies! We contradict ourselves celebrating a holiday that was created by Pagans and then adopting said holiday and turning it into a Christian theme, much like what the Catholic church did with Sunday when they adopted said day to conform more with the Pagans to to and evangelize and bring more non-believers into their church. Christmas is an abomination of the highest order no matter how many people try to squeeze the theme of Jesus to it. Jesus does not fit into the world and we need to stop allowing our traditions to cloud over the truth. Why are we celebrating anything the Catholic church agrees with anyway? Especially on the birth of their Sun God!

I'm a Seventh Day Adventist, I witnessed with my eyes the church elders and pastor put a xmas tree beside the pulpit, and told the people to put offerings on it, THAT IS NIMROD WORSHIP! So I took it to the Lord in prayer and He told me not to attend church starting from October to January and to not give the church tithe & offerings during those months, give it to the needy on the streets. The bible says don't cut a tree and decorate it with gold & silver and do not follow the customs of the world. The Seventh Day Adventist conference needs to not allow these things within the church, if those who want to practice pagan worship at their own homes so be it, but don't inflect those with it within the church walls. If the conference fixes this I will go to church from Oct - Jan. But they haven't done anything about it yet 2023.

About Christmas: So if the Bible doesn’t specifically say we shouldn’t celebrate pagan holidays, we can go ahead and do as the heathen and just say we’re doing it for Jesus? My Bible says, “Learn not the way of the heathen” (Jer 10:2). The same verse goes on to refer to the signs of heaven, which the Bible defines as the sun, moon and stars (Luke 21:25). Jeremiah 10 provides the context of the heathen custom of what we know as Christmas today (see verses 3 and 4). I, for one, abjure Christmas and will strive by God’s grace to not be judged and condemned by Matthew 15:9, which says, “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” We, as Christians, should know that the date of death is of greater importance than the day of birth, and should celebrate Christ’s death by surrendering ourselves to Him and dying to sin. “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth” (Ecc 7:1).

If Jesus would have died for just one of us, then it seems logical that Jesus would have died for Eve, had Adam trusted God to make a way so Adam could keep his wife. Matthew 19:6 “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
however, if the plan of salvation was already in place before sin entered the scene, the Father and His Son, foreknowing everything, knew they would do what they did, which was disobeying a direct command.
Tithe: God has a thousand ways to supply our needs.
Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

It may surprise you, but Christmas is not a purely Christian holiday! The beginnings of their celebrations date back to pagan times, i.e. a long time before the advent of Christianity. They were celebrated by different cultures and peoples, and gradually evolved into modern holidays, the kind we know and celebrate today.
One of the main pre-Christian holidays that influenced Christmas was Yule, celebrated mainly by peoples in the northern part of Europe. This twelve-day 'festival', during which the people paid homage to the Norse god Frey, was characterized by large feasts featuring roast boar, drinking and the lighting of large fires. Decorating the Yule tree and lighting the Yule log was typical, which was connected with the winter solstice celebrations.
Other holidays that significantly influenced the present-day form of Christmas were the birth of the Greek god Dionysus. The festivities, known as Bacchanalia, were famous for their wild character, lavish feasts, drunkenness and excessive revelry. They were celebrated for 12 days from December 25, when Dionysus was supposed to be born.
Saturnalia belonged to other pre-Christian holidays. The ancient Romans celebrated them for one week every year from December 17 in honor of the god Saturn. It was a period of feasts, gift-giving and a temporary overturning of social norms, when even slaves were for a while considered equal.
As Christianity began to spread through Europe, its leaders adopted and reshaped these existing pagan traditions to facilitate the transition from paganism to Christianity. The decision to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25 was deliberate and aimed to incorporate and Christianize popular pagan customs. Many of the traditions of the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, including gift-giving, singing, candle-lighting, feasting, and merrymaking, were gradually incorporated into the traditions of Christmas.
The fact that the Bible itself does not give the exact date of birth of Jesus Christ is also interesting. Some theologians therefore believe that Jesus was born more in the spring, as indicated for example by the references to shepherds tending sheep in the story of his birth. It was not until the 4th century that Western Christian churches decided to celebrate Christmas on December 25. This allows them to incorporate the holiday into the celebration of Saturnalia and other popular pagan winter traditions.
Today's modern Christmas is thus a mixture of various cultural influences rooted in ancient pagan celebrations and customs

      @caminandoensuverdad Před 7 měsíci +4

That depends on how are you making money grow. If you are disobeying the Word of God to make money grow that is folishness and not wisdom.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10 NKJV)
BLESSINGS THAT COME FROM GOD ARE THE FRUIT OF OBEDIENCE.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it-not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it-they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:22-25 NIV)

To all Christians who are feeling guilty because they feel they can not afford ten percent tithe, do nor feel guilty. Give what you can. Listen to what Jesus tells his deciples in the book of Mark chapter 12:42-44. It about the poor widow that went into the temple and gave all that she had two small coins. Read what Jesus says about the poor widow, and about those who had more to give. Jesus also tells us that what you do for the least of these you do for me. So if you are in a situation where you can't give money, care for the sick, feed the hungry, give clothes to those that are in need. Comfort someone who is depressed and sad. 24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; [or] if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
25 Then shalt thou turn [it] into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

27 And the Levite that [is] within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
While this shows that it is fine to pay tithe with money, it isn't very clear if this is the normal tithe of the increase, or some special "3-year" tithe. He could have said when you sell your crops or animals give me a tenth of the money. He is more interested in the increase of the land. If you want to tithe, whatever animal you have or fruit the trees bring forth offers that. Father has no desire for man’s money. And yes we tithe to the levites who were not given land to rear or sow animals or crops. Their job was to offer sacrifices on your behalf and to carry the Ark etc. who are the levites now to whom we should tithe? They work on our behalf. If a man does not work he should not eat and Paul labored with his hands that he should not be dependent on others. Can he reap from our income as he has sown spiritual? Yes!! But not according to obligation but out of our love and to see that what they have imparted is greater than money. Why is it you do not keep the whole law but keep the law of tithing? There are a different tithes in the Bible do you do them all? If you have a personal helper or gardener do you let them free in the year of Jubilee? Do you keep the day of atonement to fast? Why do you choose two aspect of the law to keep (assuming you don’t eat unclean food) and neglect the other 600 ? If Messiah be our high priest let us tithe to Him as we are all brethren and though some are apostles, deacons etc we are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people. what we ought to do now is care for the poor, the orphans the widow. Give 20% if that is what you want, give cheerfully and not according to obligation. And i say this with the utmost humility. Men may lie but scripture will not. I pray that we who truly believe and love the Father and our Messiah will be in one truth. I hope I wasn’t too long. May the grace of our Father through our Messiah bless you and your family abundantly and all who are of the household of faith.

EGW: “Shall We Have a Christmas Tree?”-God would be well pleased if on Christmas each church would have a Christmas tree on which shall be hung offerings, great and small, for these houses of worship. [Note: Reference is made in this article to current building projects. As the principles set forth in this connection are applicable today, these specific references are left in the article.] Letters of inquiry have come to us asking, Shall we have a Christmas tree? Will it not be like the world? We answer, You can make it like the world if you have a disposition to do so, or you can make it as unlike the world as possible. There is no particular sin in selecting a fragrant evergreen and placing it in our churches, but the sin lies in the motive which prompts to action and the use which is made of the gifts placed upon the tree. . AH 482.1
Updated 12/16/23. This quote from EGW was posted to for two reasons. 1. To show the SDA member who complained about a Christmas tree being put in their gathering place and the pastor asking them to put gifts on it. That the teaching came for EGW. 2. To show why Doug skated around the question about Christmas. He would be going against the SDA prophet EGW, whose teaching they follow. I am not a SDA and do not endorse any of their teaching as some of the SDA,S teaching are not Biblical. When you mix truth with error, you have error.

Friend, I'm not sure how you might think that Isaiah 50:11 applies to your case. Verse 10 promises that those who serve God will have "light" from Him; while others, who seek to be righteous through their own works will "walk in the light" of the "sparks they have kindled." That is, they will not receive light or help from God, but will have only the imaginary comfort of their own invented righteousness.
Unfortunately, the condition you describe is not really an example of the "thorn in the flesh" of 2 Corinthians 12:7, either. God allowed Paul to suffer bodily infirmities so that in his weakness, he would not forget to rely on God's strength.
Your 52 years of addiction are neither a weakness permitted by God for your good, nor are they a sign that He has abandoned you to your sins (which I can only deduce that you may have been thinking, from the verse you cited).
God does have power to deliver you from smoking and the abuse of drugs, and He wants to do so. But you in your turn must claim His power against these habits. Your will in these things is very weak. When the temptation comes to smoke, you would rather smoke than pray for help not to smoke. You would rather pick up the drug than pray for strength and battle the painful craving. You rationalize what you want to do, and turn away from seeking God's power. But if you want the victory, you will have to pray for God to take the heart that you cannot give Him, and then, you will have to painfully sacrifice what you WANT to do, with hard prayer. Satan cannot force you to put your hand to the drug, but he can make you feel as if you were dying when you do not touch it. Christ has the power for you to claim the victory: but it will not be easy or pleasant. For a time, it will be very painful. It may indeed feel like dying.
But, "we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live after the flesh [that is, to follow the impulses and desires of sinful nature]. For if you live after the flesh, you will die, but if you put to death the body [that is, sinful desires], you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:12-14)
God has hope for you, and plans for you, and He is ready to help you, starting right now.

When God’s people were under the Law covenant, they were forbidden to eat certain foods. After Jesus death, the Law ended. Romans 10:4: “For Christ is the end of the Law.”

@11:47 the quote about Romans 14 is woefully misleading people to think that Torah commands are nullified. We ought to be extremely cautious about that. In order that the rest of Paul's epistles are in harmony with one another, we cannot conclude that he is referring to God's appointed times or His commands about what is food (and what is not). A clue to the context of the chapter is given in verses 1 and 2 when he mentioned that some people eat everything while some only eat vegetables with the opinions that one way is better than the other. It was not a matter of whether God had retracted what He had previously stated about what to eat. God had not said that all meat is prohibited, so we must conclude that Paul is not addressing an issue of whether certain animals are clean or unclean.
That is often a mistake that modern Christians make. They breeze through these letters without paying attention to the context. The context here in Romans 14 appears to be pointing to a belief that those who only eat vegetables are more holy than people who eat every "food" (not every "thing"). For it is not a matter of obedience when talking about eating something that is not food, such as pork or shellfish or lizards or rabbits. These "things" were never considered to be food.
Likewise, the observance of a "certain day" is not referring to an appointed day such as Sabbath, new moon, or annual appointments. But rather is probably talking about another day most likely related to which day is appropriate for fasting or something to that effect.

    • @nickylouse2
      @nickylouse2 Před 7 měsíci +1

If you care to look into this further, consider the word that Paul used in Greek for what is unfortunately usually translated as "unclean". The Greek language is very much more descriptive than modern English. The word "koinos" does not mean "unclean" as we think of certain animals as being. That word is "akathartos". "Koinos" means "common".
By example, when the disciples ate without washing their hands, it was considered "koinos" or "common" in Mark 7. There was no command given in the Bible to wash hands before eating. It did not make them "akathartos" (unclean). Jesus addressed that when He told the Pharisees that they had a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in favor of human tradition.
Another example of where these two words are used is in Acts 10 when Peter had his vision of animals. The use of the word "koinos" referring to Gentiles never meant that they were unacceptable to God. Any Gentile celebrating Passover and Sabbath were to be considered as ones born in the land (Israelites). However, akathartos is used in reference to the unclean animals. God makes the distinction and sets things right with Peter. He never said that the unclean animals were now considered acceptable as food. Likewise, verse 28 mentions that it was "unlawful" for Jews to associate with Gentiles. However, that law was not from Torah. It was a manmade law. It was a "common" law - not a divine instruction.

It is the HOLY SPIRIT who works in us for the conversion of souls. We don't need to wait a pagan holiday to talk about GOD.
I am Samuel's wife. Why do we think it is ok to transfer a pagan feast to GOD? Can we bring a strange fire to the temple? Can we take pagan music, change the words and say it is for GOD? CHRIST died on the cross because the cross represented sin, shame. HE took the shame and gave us HIS Glory. What is there in a pagan feast that can glorify GOD? We talk about sun worship, but we forget that christmas is also a form of sun worship. It is the same thing the catholic church did again. They took all the pagan statues and gave them the name of the disciples of CHRIST so that people can worship them, thinking they are real. I was a catholic, and I know all the pagan ceremonies behind it. Even if EGW said this was alright, but I stand on Jeremiah 35.

    KJV Acts 5:29
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
OBEY GOD NOT MERE MORTALS WHOSE LIFE ARE JUST VAPOURS.
    KJV Matthew 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Yes do as the world does celebrate the sun God and say that its for the Lord. Lukewarm behaviour, the scriptures say sanctify them by thy truth thy word is true, if you know the truth why celebrate Christmas when it originally has nothing to do with him, can you repackage evil and offer it to God??? Lord forgive them for they know not what they do!

They want to satisfy the flock, many of them being Jesuit infiltrators. I appreciate the SOP, however, on that I believe her statement is taking out of context.

Nothing is pagan unless you do it for that purpose. Merry Christmas everyone and keep acknowledging the greatest gift to mankind, Jesus Christ. What Doug should be concerned about is the false teachings he has been promoting for decades under the SDA.

I'm not into Christmas decorations and trees but my wife is and I don't think it is something to argue over. I'm happy to accommodate her and she is a blessing to me. Happy wife, happy life... But honestly Christmas is not salvational and this rigidity on the part of some is sad and it causes friction... 😢

Anything worldly can be salvational. Every compromise against the heart can lead to sin, which is a transgression of the law. Look at the bigger picture. One does not need to argue, but they can be a silent witness and no be part of it. Everything in God’s time with your spouse.

What we should not try to do as christians is to attach jesus in any way to the celebration of chrismas its tradition and its not biblical its funny the day the world should remember and honour and celebrate they forget and dishonor but men came up with pagan holiday to celebrate an idol and a pagan god but hey its Christmas lets just enjoy the season of giving i no longer celebrate Christmas i just see it as a normal day and hey santan is actually spelt satan

Agreed … does no one find it odd that the whole world celebrates Xmas? It’s a false Christ celebration . Pagan to the core

The excuses made to justify believers in Yeshua celebrating Xmas as his b-day is so wrong. He clearly said we are not to take on pagan traditions and make them our own. And he NEVER CHANGED HIS MIND. God is not a respector of persons. He doesn't care that we try and make it Christian, he said not to do that in the first place. But here you go, more bad information from people that others think know the word of God. These men clearly don't, excuses excuses excuses to keep offending Jesus and make everyone think it's alright.

What tones of anger are heard in so many of these comments.
