I usually put the net in a small enough container that would leave the fish in their water when dumping them in the net. Then they are only out of the water when lifting the net and gently letting them go in their new environment.

I did work in a local aquarium store where they get fishes in every week but they don't do what you're doing today (20 to 40 boxes of fishes from area near where they mixed types of fish to ship to us, one bag is 6.2 another is 6.8 and so on also they're always crowded to make freight cost lower).40 years ago,we run tubing with tank water slowly into each bag until the water are doubled than we moved fishes into tanks. Each bank of tanks will be turned over at least once a month.
I just used your method for my first shipment of fish. They did very well. Thanks for the great advice.

Thank you Rob and Jason!! I must say that the three or four times I have ordered fish from Flip Aquatics they arrived healthy and no DOAs. Great tips especially with the PH. Here in Michigan we also have crazy high PH levels like Chicago!

@Prime Time Aquatics Ive been having problems with ammonia spikes in well cycled, aged tanks. Should I be adding BB every water change? No dead plants or anythig that could cause the spike.
Maybe check your tap water and make sure there isn’t any ammonia? BB will help. Also Fritz ACCR will help bind it if it is coming from tap water or the spike is temporary.
Hi Guys I’m in england I’m new to tropical fish and really struggling to get my tank clear it has floating particles in the tank very greyish cloud I used Limpopo black sand and rinsed it for at least a couple hours hope you can help tank been running for 2 weeks and have two internal filters one sicce shark pro 700 and the other came with the tank Ciano 80 hope you can help
I would pack them with filter floss and change it out as needed for the floating particles.

I am receiving too many different opinions and feedback to the stocking of my project and I need the feedback from someone I feel I can trust... Sounds super weird but I love your videos and feel like you care about the fish and idiots taking care of them.
I have set up a corner aquarium (length x width x height: 123x87x65cm, approximately 350 liters/90 gallons) with a UV filter and made it into a Lake Tanganyika habitat with a lot of rocks covering 2 sides, a few tufts of Vallisneria nana for good measure and roughly 60 snail shells dotted around the place. As a substitute I have used sand and my tap water is literally liquid rock.
Must haves are Julidochromis ornatus and Lamprologus ocellatus. I fancied adding Lamprologus brichardi and/or Lamprologus caudopunctatus. I want to buy a small group of each and let them grow up and pair off. I do not want to buy a group and have to search for new homes for them once they are bigger (can't guarantee safe homes and can't get more tanks).
- A reputable breeder gave me this as an optimal stock list: 6x Ornatus, 6-12x Ocellatus, 10x Cyprichromis and 4x Compressiceps.
- A specialised shop told me to get 4x Brichardi, 4x Ornatus, 6x Ocellatus and an unclear number (a few pairs?) of Caudopunctatus, Leleupi, Compressiceps AND Nigripinnis.
Please, I have never had a corner aquarium and am totally lost with stocking. Both the breeder and the shopkeeper are highly respected but are they not overstocking the aquarium (or that is at least what I feel)?

I think either one could work, but it is unlikely you will see any fry. They will probably get eaten by the other fish!
Blackout will help if you got em fishes straight from their natural habitat. I
Would it be best to treat new fish with some kind of medication before putting them in the tank to make sure they are not transferring any type of deseases from fish store?
I don’t treat them unless they show signs of infection.

You can't preach quarantine enough! If you don't have or don't want to setup another tank for it, you can use a plastic tub or tote with a sponge filter and heater. As a rule, I medicate all new fish. Too many lessons learned the hard way!

@@stephenchow5161 ick x, general cure, Erythromycin, and I use a tsp of salt per 10 gallons. See aquarium coops quarantine trio method it changed the hobby for me personally
@@stephenchow5161 personally, I like Fritz Expel-P and Para Cleanse. They're plant, invert and sensitive fish safe and they work well. I also add Catappa/Indian almond leaves.
@@amymandeville8342 I have heard those are great products. I haven’t used the almond leaves yet but I definitely want to try. I follow a fish keeper in Australia who just treats with Almond leaves and salt. I should clarify I have had success with that recipe specifically API brand individual packets so I stick with what works for my water. I also am conservative with the salt. There are a lot of good products out there nowadays - microbe-lift comes to mind they have an all natural parasite and disease treatment that is made in the USA that worked amazing for me.
@@edub1170 I avoid the salt altogether, unless I have to pull a fish for individual treatment. I have heavily planted tanks and inverts, so I prefer to be cautious. API products are really good, too.

Nice ad piece for Flip Aquatics. Not really practical for the home aquarist with only a few tanks. The takeaway here is to keep the tank lights off for a few days while they acclimate.
I think there is a lot we can learn here.
There's a lot here that people at home can do to improve thier overall success. I dont see anything fancy that people at home couldn't do.
Its not great, the tub is too big.
It would work better in a bucket or jug its also easier then to net them out.
This method doesnt allow for ph differences either or water hardness.
This is clearly the difference between retail and private.

Im gonna be adding some pepper corys to my angelfish tank soon. Do you have any tips on making them less likely to eat them ?
Just make sure they are large enough not to fit in their mouth.
