    • @dygon7663
      @dygon7663 Před 2 lety +18

      @@traumwandeln Yes, I did. Though in hindsight the donut tutorial really isn't the best for a beginner. It does a very good job at going over a lot that blender has to offer, problem is, imo, that as a beginner it's too much. I'd suggest checking out Grant Abbitt. He has loads of more beginner oriented tutorials, like the low poly well and sea shack tutorial that go over the very beginnings of Blender much better than the donut tutorial.

    I remember following this milk box tutorial ages ago, struggling with the line art but finally getting it to work. Now we have a whole line art modifier that can do it for us in a click! This method makes me feel nostalgic now, and appreciate just how far both the software and I myself have come :)

    • @levimagony
      @levimagony  Před 6 měsíci +3

      We had line art modifier back then too. I still use this "old" method when I can, cause it looks so clean, I only use the line art modifier when the the other method creates ugly results.

    I've seen a bunch of people saying that this was too fast and hard to learn, and maybe it's just me, but I found this tutorial actually very good. I had almost no knowledge of blender when I first found this, and yes, it is annoying that the video is fast and a little too zoomed in, but it helps you find your way around the program while you're trying to find where those options are. (also, that's what the pause button is for!)

      Thank you! Exactly, you can hit that pause button, and also this video is not made for beginners, it's made for people who are already using Blender and want to try out a different style, so it's more like an overview.

    1:19 You forgot to tell, that if you need color to be applied, then add 1 to Material Offset in Wireframe modifier. I've struggled with this, so if anyone encountered this problem like I am, that this is your solution ^^

    • @levimagony
      @levimagony  Před 2 lety +11

      I did it differently, I duplicated the object, added a wireframe to it and deleted the materials and added a new one (purple). In this way you don't have to mess around with the material offset.

    Glass edit: the tricky glass shader doesn't work anymore, it doesn't have this glowy bright look, it looks lame
    This fix doesn't work anymore but I leave it here just in case👇
    (Glass fix: I checked my old file and the glass doesn't look as I show you here, probably bc blender has been updated since I published this video, and they've changed things.
    To recreate the effect, follow everything what I'm showing in the video but instead of setting the Transmission Roughness to 0.69 change the Roughness to 0.69 and it'll look just like mine. Change the blending from opaque to alpha blend.)

    Epic tutorial! Couple of questions. 1) The white outline that you're acheiving in some of the thumbnails and your instagram animations - is that done in post or on a different render layer? Havent found a way to ouline the silhouette of a scene yet so would be great to know! 2) Have you tried this technique was many objects that have a lot of concave areas? I've found that the outlines can begin to look a bit wonky because of all the geometry intersections that are happening. Interest to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

    • @levimagony
      @levimagony  Před 2 lety +2

      1. I'm creating those outlines in photoshop, but here's a tutorial about creating multiple outlines: czcams.com/video/UH1MNINmGJE/video.html
      2. yes this techniques is not always the best option, there's a lineart modifier in blender which works with concave areas and intersections as well ( i used it to create the outlines for the cassette animation). You can apply outlines to a whole collection of object or only the selected object: czcams.com/video/a1o_W4XJvSY/video.html

    Hi! I like your videos. Thanks you! But i don't understand how to make milk. I created the object for milk then i made the only the shaders that appeared in 1:05. But the milk is not transperent, also gradient don't work properly. In your video one color flows in the other smoothly, but my gradient worked only on small space of milk. I hope I wrote clearly. Thank you for your videos again!

      Create the same magic transparency material as I showed in the first step there's a node setup for the milk at 0:35, copy that. At 1:05 that's the material of the outline. If the milk is not transparent, go to edit mode, recalculate normals with shift+n, and it should work.

    hi! i attemped this tutorial on my own by making a frog inside a bottle, everything is looking perfect in the viewport but as soon as i hit render the things inside the bottle like the frog turns out gray/black or are completely invisible. already attempted hitting the backface culling box but nothing changes and i have no idea what else to do

      maybe you have an object in the scene which is hidden in the viewport but shows up on renders, check the outliner

    Hey mate. Loved this vídeo, exactly what i was looking for. I have some issues with the magic transparency milk. Did you created a second material and placed inside the milk box? Can´t figure out how the transparency is not working as is should be.

    • @levimagony
      @levimagony  Před rokem +1

      Hey, yes I created a second object and placed inside the box.
      Possible solutions:
      - recalculate the normals in edit mode with shift+n
      Recreate the shader on a simple object (cube) while following along the tutorial easier.

    Is it possible that Blender 4.2 and EEVEE next broke parts of this tutorial? The blend mode settings seem to have been removed in this version?

    • @levimagony
      @levimagony  Před měsícem +1

      Yes, things have been removed, but mostly renamed. Under material settings > Render Method you can find the new blend modes, Blended mode and Dithered. Blended is the new Alpha Blend.

      So in the material settings tab where you click backface, culling under that there's blend mode and shadow mode, change the shadow mode from opaque to none and there you have it, no shadows😉
