KartFab can i get a frame steering wheel and some wheels plz thats all i need to start my go kart build
Where do I put the tires
So that tire and rim you held up looks like one I have, I bought for my sons kart. But mechanic said wrong kind. Mine is a Murray 2 seater go kart. I tried taking off the rear tires but it seems like they are attached to the axle. I'm really confused on this any input would be appreciated.
This tire video is Awesome
Best “non special tool” tire changing video I’ve seen. Thank you for posting
Im glad someone made a video on this! Thanks to you i was able to change my own rear tires! The instructions are good but it was hard for me to understand how you got the new tire on so quickly. Eventually, I figured it out. It took me 2 hours to do two tires. I knicked the outside edge of the first tire but the 2nd one is fine. I'm going to try to seal the bad spots with grey RTV (let it cure for 24hrs) then re-bead the tire. I fixed my old 6" tire that had a 1" hole in the sidewall and its taken a bunch of abuse so far. Only running 6psi in the front, 10 in the rear
Hey great video. Thanks so much for the info. This was huge for all us shade tree mechanics 😁
Lonehand
You have a rare ability to get the message across and you have helped so many people with your knowledge...cheers!
Thank you for this video, I was heading to the tire shop tomorrow before finding your video. I watched your video and did my own tire change by following your instructions. Outstanding!
Glad I could help!
Same lmao thank u sir 🙏
I have probably changed over 100 small tires and didn't know the vice grip trick, thanks.
very clear video. I'm sure many others are thankful for this video.
Bro, thank you for exactly the video I was looking for
No problem 👍
Ive had the Carlisle Knobbys on my 98 Manco Critter since new. Love those tires and Gokart.
Very nice video! I am changing my son first Quad tires and your video help me a lot!
Thank you!!!
You should give a thanks to carsandcameras for shouting out your channel now your one of my favorite channels
Yep, ill be doing that in my next video.
This is an excellent video. Thank you so much for the help.
Thanks - great to see how you do this. Thank you!
Hey KartFab, I am a big fan of your videos and you just saved me a lot of headache. Keep up the good work and great how to video.
thanks and no problem!
Thank you. This helped me get a tire changed on the kids go cart. We back up and running now.
You are seriously the best around a huge thanks you covered every aspect of changing a tire 100% a plus my dude thank god for you!
Glad I could help
Seems like he knows what hes doing until he calls a pair of vice grips channel locks. But thats the step i was hung up on! So helpful video
haha yeah force of habit with how I learned vocabulary as a kid. I think my dad called channel locks plumbers wrenches. The list goes on and on.
Nice scratching of rims there
Always a dildo in the comment section
You did a great job explaining 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent Video! Thank you and God bless my friend
Thanks very informative im about to change my first go kart tire.
Love your vids...thanks for the help!
Thanks for the awesome techniques and tips! Of course you made it look like putting on a sock. My son and I looked like a couple of turtles trying to apply sunscreen to each other.
Good video, thanks for posting.
Awesome video ever 😍 continue to make more videos like this one
Bro thank you. You help me alot. Don't know much about kart . But i just bought one with a flat.
very nice job and great tips.
Super helpful thanks man!
Good info. Now hopefully I can change the rear tires without removing them from the axel. They just won't budge. Thanks man.
Been there, done that.
Really helpful. Love your content man.
thanks, appreciate the comment.
Nice job helped a lot I’m about to stretch a go cart tire so
Love the video...I'm completely new to go karts...I got my son a two seater Murray. The rear tires are in need of replacement...so thanks for the info....any other kart videos would be helpful...really looking forward to this with my son! Liked and subscribed!
Thanks! Murray karts are solid. He will have a lot of fun on that thing.
Great strait to the point learned a lot
Thanks I have helped change backhoe and dump truck tires, but this one is smaller. Smaller the tire harder it is
Great job.
Best detailed video dude 👌
Appreciate it!
You are a lifesaver
Great Video!
Thank you very much good video ❤😊
Very very helpful👍👍
Damn, you made that look so easy. Nice job.
Excellent 👍🏻
Kick ass video!
Not a big fan of the Coleman 200ex from Tractor Supply for 699, , but I did get a brand spanking new one for $480 and I don't mind it. But Monster moto was bought out by Coleman, and they sell the old stock, renamed RT200 from walmart.com for 599, which is a great mini bike with heavy-duty frame and huge seat and front suspension. Im 6'3, and its great
In my opinion Grant you make the best go kart video's 👍👍very informative. I have the Manco kart with a 6.5 briggs&stratton with a clutch and a few months ago you recommended putting a 30 series torque converter it sat for awhile then I finally did the other day and WOW what a difference now I know why you recommend it lol👍I was doing it to sell it because I have no where to use it besides my small backyard on Long Island NY but now I'm looking at tires lol. It snowed here yesterday and I took it out lock the axle because now I can lol and had a BLAST🤙😝🤙.With out the roll cage it will fit in my suburban perfectly but I must find a place to rip it around
Thanks for the GREAT INFO again 👍😁🤙
Nice gotta change all 4 tomorrow
Awesome thanks!!
Makes it look so easy..
BEST VID!!
fantastic videos ,you inspirited me i builfing go kart like youre :)
Thanks, good luck with your build.
KartFab i saw youre plans online , hi from Serbia :))
cool! Its awesome to see all the different countries people are from that watch my vids.
Thank you!! ..this helped greatly ...The old tires I pulled off this offroad one seater kart says it 22×11-8 ...this means the rim has to be 8" diameter? The 22x11 looks to big for size of engine and clutch ...what size tire do you recommend? Does width and size effect performance?
Thanks guy.
I liked and subscribed. I got a ? I have a taotao GK110 go kart and I want to put bigger tires on the rear so there can be more ground clearance for the chain guard. Do they make a tire bigger than 16 for a 7” rim?
I change tractor, car, bike, and truck tires in pretty much the same exact way. I do not however recommend the starter fluid trick except as a last resort. If you take a ratchet strap and tighten it down real tight in the center of the tread all the way around it will force the beads onto the lip and using compressed air will pop it on. I have done the starter fluid and also used gas to seat the beads out in the field before but only as a last resort and if no compressor is available.
yeah, starter fluid is kinda risky, especially if you put in too much. I always do it with the valve stem out so it can relieve some pressure rather than build up too much.
Put soap it helps so
Much
If you don't ever want to use starter fluid or don't have any, use a ratchet strap around the tire to tighten it and then blow a lot of air inside.
Thanks man.
No problem!
Good video.im just wandering why all the people leaving comments are asking & saying oh it will scratch my rims 😂. Its a freakin go kart & 4 wheeler. Who in the hell cares if you get scratches on ur rims!!!! If thats all you get then i promise you thats the least of ur worries lol.and if ur that concerned then u probly got fancy city boy rims that never see mud & u may just want to take it to a "tire shop". Scratches!!!😒 ive heard it all.
Vice grips not channel locs. Good video though.
Thanks, yeah something you learn as a kid and it sticks with you into adulthood. Thanks for the correction 👍
Hahaha, no biggie. Good video, just playing a bit.
"vise grips" NOT "vice grips" ---unlike "vice president", not "wise president". ...just playing
On go kart tires when trailing is it better to air down or have fully air tires?
Does the valve stem have to be an exact size or is it all the same
.any suggestion for tire balancing? I bought lawn mower /tractor tires and once I get up to about 22MPH there is heavy vibration. If I keep to less than that everything is aok so I believe it isn't any other part of the kart.
As always, thank you for your build videos. I used bits and pieces to make my own, especially the seat (used the make a seat for TMan collab video)
hmmmm. could be the engine, or harmonic resonation. hard to tell. you could take your tire/rim assembly to a garage and they could balance it, but i doubt that would be the issue. could also be a bent axle or some weird out of round thing. In short, I dunno lol!
thanks! maybe I'll just put a new gear on and slow it down! it is the kid's Kart after all. I never ride it, never, wasn't made for me to drive it at all
Also is that Kart a Manco Dingo? Man i miss those why can’t they make them again. It was affordable and fun machine.
Should have put snow blower tires on the front. I think it would've looked better, plus helped it turn without sliding. Nice meeting you at the Gopowersports swap meet.
+bryan terrell I like the turf savers. They last a long time. The kart has pretty good steering geometry.
+bryan terrell nice meeting you at the meet as well. Wish I could have brought the kart.
Bring it next year.
Definitely.
Not even the same type tire he held up the inside how to remove inside circle pieces?
For my go-kart (taotao Targa 150cc) i am having some trouble breaking the bead on the front tires. The tire is completely deflated and im using flathead screwdrivers but the bead just wont pop loose! Any advice?
Apply even pressure all around. Where’s case scenario, take it to a tire shop and I’ll pull it off for you. If you don’t want to do that and just want to throw away the tire you can cut the tire with a razor blade and then use some side cutters to cut through the wire that is in the bead
At 4:45 he pops the back of that tire over the front rim. I played hell getting that part on mine lol. After an hour I gave up.
I didn’t know Dirks Bentley could change a tire.
@KartFab what gokart is the one you use in this video because i have the same exact one but idk what gokart I have.
Manco Baja 200
Will the screwdrivers screw up my rims?
You can use plastic pry bars instead.
No they won’t....yes you can use plastic
Thanks you know anything about carburetors. 🤔
guys, use tools and not screw drivers. You cna use drivers, i have, but i would rather use the pry tools. They are designed for the job and THEY DONT SCRATCH YOUR WHEELS AS EASY/MUCH
I agree. When I said do you need specialized tools? The answer is still no. You can definitely get by with just regular screwdrivers. Using tire spoons, and a legit bead breaker/tire changing tool is a lot easier, but they do cost a lot compared to how often you might use it.
Yes, I'm with you. Im just saying if you can USE THE CORRECT TOOLS. Someimes you can use tools and do the job perfectly just as if you would have used the "correct tools". But sometimes those correct tools were made for a reason
I use long screwdrivers also. I'm not worried about scratches as it's for a go kart or lawn mower so looks don't matter gonna either thrash the kart or get the mower dirty so I'd rather use what I have on had to get the job done.
3 name changes allowed every 90 days. Lol k
does taking the tire off this way destroy it? or can I reuse the tire and just change the rim? thanks
You can reuse just remember to use dish soap and be careful not to be too rough with the tire
@@KartFab Thanks for the reply!
whats the correct way to put the actual wheel on spindle, ive had problems with burning bearings because im not putting correct washer/spacer on it
Need to have a spacer in hub, or at a bare minimum use a thin machine washer to prevent contact with bearing seal. If you don’t have a spacer inside, only torque so there is a tiny bit of clearance (0.010”) you never want to torque retaining but against bearing or you side load it, which causes failure
Can you seat the bead with starter fluid when you have a tube in the tire ? Or will it burn it
There is no need to do this with a tube. Just fill the tube with air until the tire bead pops into place. Don’t overfill. It’s usually “max pressure to seat bead” on the sidewall
Do they make plastic tools that could work like the screw drivers so to not scratch the rims? I have really nice black custom wheels on my golf cart and would like to not scratch them up replacing the tires. Thx
Yes they do.
@@KartFab Great I'll look into those, thanks!
I got 20x10-10 and 15x6-6 can i change te tires?
I can't seem to get the bolt off the back tire. It's rusted on, do you have any tips on how to get it off?, thanks ☺
Impact it off. If you don’t have an impact wrench hold your wrench with one hand and hit the end of the wrench with a hammer. You can also put a cheater bar on the end of the wrench (pipe) for more leverage.
Dónde consigo los planos del go kart
Do you have to replace the valve stem or is it optional?
Optional but a good idea
i am getting a torque converter that has a sprocket for a 41 chain. i plan on using a 420 chain, will it work?
Yeah, the torque converter sprockets are either #35 or #41. #41 sprockets for the jackshafts can take either 41 or 420 chain. Just make sure the sprocket is a 'Type C' - which is basically a sprocket with the teeth centered on the hub. By default the 30 series and 40 series torque converters come with type C sprockets.
thanks, i have a manco dominator go kart and i am putting a live axle on it.
you can go check it out, my go kart channel is Red Head's Karts
Hey! Do you have a link for where you found those tires??
yeah, its in the article i wrote kartfab.com/go-kart-maintenance/change-go-kart-tires-step-step-guide
when i get my live axle kit, where do i put the lock collars? it only comes with 2, and it says the sprocket and brake have set screws.
+RedHead's Karts lock collars hold the rims from sliding around on the axle. So up against the inside hub of the rim. The other stuff (brake hub, sprocket, and even bearings) all have set screws to hold them in place.
but will it keep the axle from sliding?
+RedHead's Karts the set screws on the bearings keep the axle from sliding. Use blue thread locker on the set screws
the side of the bearing is right up against the rim. should i put the collars on the inside of the bearings to keep the axle secure?
Do you need to use compressed air or can I just use a pump
You'll probably need the rope and maybe bead seal compound. It could be really difficult with a pump.
what time is it there? it's 12 20 here in mn
Uploaded at 12:20 am. Yup.
What is that spray
Can you give the link for the tires because thats the size i have
Check the kartfab description link
What if my tires crimped inwards on the rim and it’s difficult to take off the tires?
Tire shop can fix your problems
Think you I stabbed through my Finger nail and then we use your Idea and it worked
16x8-7 and 16×8.0-7 tire what is the diferent can you let me no
The number of decimal places?
Looks so easy because you already had the beed broke when he took the tire off
Where can I buy the tires
+its your boi savage article link in description
how wide are the 18" tall tires
Just to give you a little test, it says on the sidewall 18 x 9.50 - 8 so what does that mean?
18" is diameter, 9.5 is tread width, and 8 is rim size, thanks! lol
How dont speed it up 100 times when you're putting it on sone can watch you do it at reg speed! Damn bro rewinding it over and over bc you're obviously a magician who mysteriously puts tiny tires on tiny rims
I want to see you break the bead on a real ATV tire by just pushing on it 😂😂😂
I’m a fatty, I ain’t scurred
I live in Germany and here there aren't ever tires to buy
Why didn’t you take the back tires off
Tried this once but tires don't like me lol
Yeah, they can be a pain sometimes. I have only had one set of tires that I had to cut off. Someone had put slime in the tires and it rusted the rims pretty bad so the bead wouldn't break. I ended up cutting the tire off the rims and had to repaint the inside portion of the rims.
You obviously never changed a 1985 moto 4 rear....
