I know an old tire guy that uses a dish soap bottle filled with Varsol to squirt around the beads. Really slick and it tends to soften the rubber a little on older tires to help them seal to the rim.

Hey Moe, something to consider:
A custom sized piece of wood to act as a spacer on the back side set-up. Something to span both sides of the straight sided 'inside'. Resting on both bottom rims and high enough to "properly" provide a base for the bead-breaker to work against (on the 'in' side of the rim). Might work?

I use the weight of my truck to pop the bead, works every time. Lay the atv/utv tire down in front of your truck tire so when you drive up on it you just miss driving on the rim. Having someone hold the tire from sliding helps a lot.

as usual, having the right tools for the job makes all the difference in the world. a few years back i started working on bringing my grandpas old vehicle back to life (a 1955 fordson thames van), and i spent 3 hours trying to get the tire free from just one of the rusted steel rims, it was one hell of a workout. ended up taking the rest to a tire shop, but learned a valuable lesson XD
It's amazing how strong the bond between rusted steel and rubber can get.
You make it look so easy. That de-beader tool works great.
It's been a huge labor saver.
Good stuff buddy, I don’t always comment but I watch your stuff a lot one thing that I loved is when I put all of my tires changing equipment mounted it onto a plastic pallet to where I can move it around on my property. About an ATV tire changing kit from Harbor freight about eight or nine years ago did several videos on it that thing works like a charm for it basically anything up to a small car tire. Keep the videos come and have a great day

I fought my 400ex tire for two hours before I gave up and paid a shop to mount them. I couldn’t even break the bead on one! Man you made this look easy!
I know what you mean I have spent hours driving over ATV tires, using tractor buckets, etc to no avail. This thing has saved so much labor.
That new tire mount/dismount tool is coming in handy. Small rims suck but it made it look easy
I've been really happy with it.
I have changed at least 6 atv tires with my HF tire changer and at first it was almost impossible because the sidewall would collapse and the bead removal tool would slip off. The trick I discovered is to leave a small amount of air in the tire and then your sidewall does not collapse and you can break your bead like on a normal tire.
I've actually done that using tire machines on aluminum wheels that bonded with the tires after cranking the air regulator to the machine up. Prevents slippage and damaging the tire.

Just a thought, Make a slim shelf to cross the width of the back side about the deapth of the front and put rubber on the parts that would hurt the sides, That way you only would need to do aone or 2 spots on the back side.
We used old bumper jack...remember those..lay tire on ground and put jack base on tire bead then place other end under bumper and Jack until bead is broken... Ah the good old days..lol
I also built a bead breaker, but I find it just s easy to to bust a bead, by running over the tire with my truck.
i wound up putting tubes in my brand new quad tires because i could not get my beads close to seating no matter what i tried. seated up nice with tubes though.

Make a insert for the back deep dish of the rim and use the tool as you wold on the face of the rim much less time messing with the tool to break the bead from the rim🤙

Well, I should have watched this video yesterday. The vise grip tip and using a ratchet with a hammer, a better bead breaker, would have helped. It was a battle, but no one got set on fire, lost any fingers, not too much blood, and we got all four tires on. Will do some things different next time. Thanks.

Problem with tubing tires is simple thread punctures require a full tire breakdown. I have done tubes many times and almost always regret it.
As always, good stuff. Can you go over your tool that you made? Very interested in that bead breaker design.

As someone who thought the bead breaker was awesome the first time seeing it n making one of my own it's a great build but use a good quality steel for the foot. I used 1/4 plate n it bent alot. I see moe has added some gussets to the outside feet. But dude if you fight with tough beads you definitely need one

As a "lock out Chuck" I had an old battery powered emergency tire pump that went bad, just cut the hose and use the Chuck to deflate

P.S. What is your opinion on using silicone mold release spray to mount and dismount tires?
I think it works much better than soap and water.
At first, I was worried that if I used it on a drive wheel that the tire would slip on the rim, but it seems to break down and go away and so far it has not been a problem on my wheels.
I've never used mold release. I generally use a dedicated tire bead lube or soapy water. The bead lube is definitely slipperier.

@@Enigma-Sapiens I've heard of so many random things being used by guys. Murphy's soap, KY jelly, etc. Short of grease I think anything is going to help.

I know this is random, but 2:03 why is the drill battery blue ?
That's just tape. I have a lot of metal shavings in the shop and this prevents the metal slivers from embedding into the plastic battery when I set the drill down.

Those cheapo chinese tires are so easy to puncture. Especially the sidewalls.
Be careful with that tire strap method-- I've had a strap break doing that. Stand clear when adding air if you can. The hook can come around and give you a nice smack if the strap lets go.
For everyone else who wants to try it: I'd still recommend that method for putting on tires-- just use a good strap and some common sense.

Common sense was used in this video. I always remove the strap as soon as the beads pop into place.
I cut out a little discussion about straps and think the flame/starter fluid method is safer if you only have a 1" strap. I use a 2" commercial strap and make sure there is not valve core in. I won't go more than 5ish psi with the strap in place.
@@JT-tz5hp Yup, no argument about that- this is 100% the way to do it. Just want people to be aware in case they attempt it with a smaller strap, etc.
In my case it actually let go before the beads popped into place. Guess the rubber made enough of a seal on the rim.
@@sixtyfiveford Keep up the awesome tutorials! Your method as shown is exactly what I do now. The one that gave on me was a quality 1" strap, luckily no damage done-- maybe some underwear that needed changing.
You don't do sidewall repairs Emergency only.. Otherwise your tire is trash.
