    I recently added a Martin Logan Descent subwoofer to my system. You are exactly correct on all of your advice. I have the sub in the middle of the room with iso acoustic feet under them. My phase is set at 120° so the bass is good at any location. I also noticed that I had bass drop when the sub was crossed over at 30hz. I changed it to 70 hz and it naturally rolled right in with my towers. I have a large listening room so although my towers play down to 38hz, they roll off much higher.

      Towers set to large? Or did you use a crossover?

    Another excellent video, thank you! (I'm already a subscriber). My biggest subwoofer challenge was I only have 2 places that they can be placed and yes, one was in a corner behind my sectional. The second sub is on the other end of the room next to the sofa. The corner sub is 7dB lower than the other one, and they sound well balanced. I'm currently in the process of installing acoustic panels on the walls and ceiling, hopefully that will make a noticeable difference. My sound system consists of 4 SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers (2 for the mains and 2 for the side channels), an SVS Ultra Center speaker, 6 SVS Prime Elevation speakers (4 ceiling mounted for Dolby Atmos and 2 mounted on the back wall for the rear channels) and 2 SVS SB-3000 Subwoofers. The system is powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 11 channel AVR connected to a Panamax M5400-PM Power Conditioner.

      That's awesome. I wanna move towards svs for my bed layer as I have 2 pb2000 pros and 4 elevations. The Klipsch RP 500Ms for my bed layer and while it's pretty alright, I definitely want to see what all the svs hype is about.

    I run my subs hot, 82-85 db! I do have to do a new calibration, because I switched out my surrounds!

    My "home theater" is also my bedroom and is a 7.2.2 system. When I finally bought a pair of speaker stands for my front L/R I had to stack my two different subwoofers (brand, driver and power) and it seemed it got boomier. One main was on top of the small sub on a little footstool and the other was on a wooden-spindled barstool to get them about the same height. Someone said there's a 6 dB when stacking subs, but I never understood if that meant it just got louder or the frequency got lower due to them being co-located. Audyssey (Denon X4700) seems to have been able to handle the issue. A week ago I also added a Tonewinner 11-channel amp and put my AVR in pre-amp mode. I'm not sure what make more of a difference...the extra power from the new amp (L/R/C have more power) or the stacked subs. It may be placebo, spending the extra cash, a real improvement or a combination ( no way to A/B setup) but I think the system sounds better with the power and processing separated.

    Even though the phase on the subwoofer should be at zero when at the front with your main speakers. Can in some circumstances would it sound better on 180 at the front with the main speakers. Because after all it is a delay❓

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes. a lot of subs are either 0 or 180 but if you can get a DSP of some sort that lets you pick between 0 and 360 you might find that 10 degrees or 46 degrees is better than 0. Etc.

    One question that I've always wanted to ask when doing the subwoofer crawl and you put the subwoofer will you sit. Now let's say it's a Down firing subwoofer would it be better to put a piece of wood underneath it. To act like your wooden floor cos if you don't it's just hitting the seat of the couch which is soft

    Did the MiniDSP improve your sub response over what the Anthem ARC did?

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Slightly. I have a tad more control with the DSP. But the anthem had it pretty darn flat to start

    The problem w/ the subwoofer walk for me is that my sub is too darn heavy and big/awkward to move it. It's so big it looks like a coffee table and weighs 65 pounds - officially. I'm betting it weighs more like 80-90 pounds.

  • @wendellwendellb339
    @wendellwendellb339 Před 10 měsíci +2

    According to a YT’ber that you know, who did that, in his honest opinion, that method of sub crawl doesn’t work!

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  Před 10 měsíci

      I know who your talking about. It works BUT if you have multiple subs its less likely to work. The more subs, the more chance for cancellation and at that point you need to calibrate. The PLACEMENT is correct individually. Now you have to make sure they all work together.
