Cort has an epic powerlifting home gym filled with some of the best equipment from Rogue Fitness, ER Equipment, Buddy Capps, and more. However, what’s more impressive than his gym is the way he’s able to stay strong and compete while serving his local community as the Sergeant for his Police Force.
Most recently, during our 2019 Garage Gym Tour we were able to visit Cort, talk about his training, do a walkthrough of his gym, and learn more about what he does for a living. Despite all of the time he puts in at work both as a Sergeant and a member of SWAT, Cort lifts massive amounts of weight and competes on a high level.

As a nurse who also works rotation shifts (dayshifts and nightshifts), I cannot agree more with having your own gym. The flexibility of being able to go in and get a workout in whenever is clutch!
This is what I keep explaining to my wife when new equipment shows up.

I was too! The cool part about this is that everyone has a unique setup and story. I love talking about the equipment, but getting to share peoples stories and gyms is honestly the most inspiring what will get more people training at home.

Thank you for your service Cort! Is it just me who notices that power lifter’s home gyms don’t have mirrors...? Maybe because they’re too busy training and so in their zone that they don’t need a mirror to distract them from their goals?and $14K?! Gezus, here I was $3.5k spent into building my home gym because of this crazy mandated quarantine thinking I spent too much. 🤣

Not exactly the same but i have very similiar equipment no combo rack or calibrated plates but same rack, Westside bench, echo bike and have the rhino on its way. Upgrading to monster rack from rml... Probably silly as the rml is a really good rack.
@@Pler1978 Nice I like it. Although I would change from RML to Monster just because it's 1 inch hardware and there are more features available.

Love this gym! That westside bench is goals for real. He should put the fat pad on the westside bench tho.
I have the westside with fat pad and spotter steps. Love it. Wasnt sure if a waste for home gym with rml rack but its a regret buy and its affordable. With the upgrades 1k delivered.

Cort is from Illinois I imagine it gets cold, how cold is it at midnight when your working out? What did u do for insulation or heat?
It can get down to negitive 20-30 degrees. Depends on the winter. I'm a firefighter in the same town. I think his garage is just normal insulation. Like your house. He don't care anyway.
He works night shift. When he says he gets up at 12, eats, and then cranks out a workout at 2, I’m pretty sure he’s talking about afternoon hours. ☝️🥴

I could have bought a set for $50 once, hemmed and hawed all day and of course when I decided to go for them they were sold. Never seen another set come up for anything like that money lol.

Hey Coop question on the Rogue RML 3W rack can you use all the accessories as a normal rack for additional add ons ?
I have this rack actually and its ok. Upgrading to monster half rack. It can use all the same accesories as any monster lite rack. If want to bolt will need to add mounting brackets that rogue sells.

Lighter deadlifts at higher volume with impeccable form then some safe progression without letting form slip at all. Time and practice.
Trap bar deadlifts can be helpful, also working on your posture during the day. Go on walks more and stop sitting around can be very helpful.

My guess is he had some money saved up before, because a lot of this is some expensive equipment. Good on him though, buy nice cry once. Luckily officers get paid pretty decent depending on the city, still not enough for everything they have to deal with.
pjm_21, some people waste more money going out to eat all the time. Why not invest in a hobby you are interested in. The gyms legit and worth it, I would buy those plates if I could.
