- Go pro Footage of Crib Goch ridge 11th september 2015. Clear skys but pretty windy. I tried to get good footage of the 800m sheer drop to the right using a wide angle, but don't believe it does it justice.

In 1963 took a Girl Friend on a date weekend . Along with a bunch of friends/work colleagues. She had never done anything like it before. Must have thought she was a “keeper” . Married her in 1964 - still married.

@@samantakl89 What my note did not say : my future wife met and sat and chatted with Sherpa Tensing on the ridge . The 1953 Everest climbing party were concurrently on the ridge for a 10 year reunion.
My younger brother did the same, took his new girlfriend there on first weekend away in 08, clouds came down and they nearly got completely lost , said it was bloody scary but they still ended up getting married at later date,, sounds like I had better find a girlfriend to take there . Congrats.
Did this 2 days ago. Legs still aching. I'm 58 and planned for it for 2 months. Walking up local, much smaller mountain and lifting heavy logs. But NOTHING prepared me for this. I saw guys and gals like this just walking/running across it...I basically crawled. It's terrifying. It's not just that bit they're showing you. There are some almost sheer rock faces you have to climb over to get to the ridge. It's not for the fainthearted. It's very technical and you need an excellent center of balance. I made it purely by the encouragement of others passing by and staying peaceful taking one step/crawl at a time. Saying that, it was the most exhilarating, amazing thing I've ever done in my life and I have done a lot of crazy stuff!!!

When I did this many years ago, the weather was so bad you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. For which I am truly grateful!
My partner has traversed Crib Goch many times back in the 1970's. He recalls taking a friend up there when it was fairly thick fog and then they did it again later and his friend said "you've got to be kidding me - is this where you took me last time"!!!
Yes, i could do this easily if it were foggy and i couldn't see the height. But on a day like this, no way.
I 'did' the Crib Goch in 1983 with 5 Irish lads at Easter .... hungover as f......k from a session in the Vaynol Arms the night before .....glorious weather ..... can't imagine what it would be like in cloud ..... suggest we wouldn't be there ...... watching your video brought it all back ...... great , great times in North Wales ..... I have lived in Sydney Oz for the last 35 years !!!

I did this with my Dad when a teenager. It is far more dangerous than it looks. Great respect for everyone that has done this.
I did this with my mates when I was 17. There's no way I'd take my kids there now 😂. The shots do not do it justice.

I did it when I was 7 and then again aged 9. It’s left me with a lasting fear of heights.

Not all of it, of course, but I recall spending a good bit of the time using my hands as well as my feet. It amazes me that people can just wander across it like that - very impressive.

My brother and myself attempted it a couple years ago back on a cold stormy March morning with the dog! Gale force winds visibility no more than 10 feet and it was pissing it down! That’s the only time in my life I’ve feared for it! We were on all fours before we had to make a retreat back down.
It's better to be safe. Imagine spraining or breaking your ankle up there.

Great vid and music goes well with it. My dad took me my sister and 2 of our friends across this ridge when we were around 10/11. I remember sitting down being afraid to move at one point, shear drop both sides. Got across in the end. Found an old pic of us all but didn’t know where it was so asked an old walker I know and he said it was crib goch!

I did this when I was 17, 38 now and there's no way I'd take my kids up there 😂. Took them up the Llanberis path and that was worrying enough for me.
Brilliant bit of footage, I did it when i was 19, only once, never again, but of course you just have to have at least one go, would I have ever done it again....no , half way across a swirling cold mist descended, I had to be led off the last couple of hundred yards or so by some other guys, regrets, only one and that back in 1972 we didn"t have the modern action cams, thamks for sharing, glad you made it across safe....Mike

Found this video after I had done the route and now watch it frequently. Very good video and does show very well what the traverse is like. For anyone watching this video as home work before they do the route, Yes it really is that sharp! Certainly not for the faint hearted.
Shit the bed, I have vertigo just watching this. Ok - I would like to climb it but conquering my fear will be a huge challenge.
Im lucky enough to go to Wales..Brecon Beacons and the Lake district at least once a year and have climbed many mountains. Crib Goch is by far the most exhilarating route..absolutely loved it and wish to return one day
We did this the other day. Aged 54 with wife of similar age. Hardest bit was getting up to the ridge as it was rainy and misty and the route wasn’t obvious. Some very sketchy hand and footholds. I think we were too far over to the right. Got to the start of the crest and a guy walked past us with a full size mountain bike strapped to his back.
The ridge itself is stunning but it’s a good idea to prepare with a few similar ‘potentially risky’ walks first. We did Striding Edge and Sharp Edge in the Lake District the week before. Good preparation but Crib Goch is way more exposed.

Since the beginning of the year ive wanted to do this scramble. ive watched, probably every video of crib, and this is the best by far. You guys make it look effortless. I dont know why so many people shoot in fisheye, Its not real, it puts people off.. Thanks for the vid. October is my time to do this , im just waiting for a couple of clear days and im off. Well done. I did it over thirty years ago, and ended up on the scree slope. Was explaining this to my wife (as Crib Goch is in the news today after a family were airlifted off) and found your video. It is as nerve jangling as I remember LoL!
I remember walking that ridge when i was in the Army, in January 78, Ive never been so scared in all my life, the wind was horrific, and not an ideal place to be in the winter months..

I did this in the summer of 1987. I was only ten years old. You don't have fear as a child.
Went over it the other day, first time up Snowdon, found it really exillerating!

Brilliant video.I first did it in 1964 and twice since.First time was in quite thick mist but the other 2 times were in fine sunny conditions.Your video makes me want to do it again.But not while holding a camera like that!

Have you ever done the CMD Arete route to Ben Nevis? Almost identical to this, I plan on getting down to snowdon this year.

Reminds me of being a kid and in our local park there was a long handrail/fence that we used to walk along.
It was at least 100" long and getting from one end to the other took clarity of mind, nerves of steel and good grippy trainers with the laces tied nice and tight.
But well done on your thing, it too looks impressive and maybe even a bit chilly?
Awesome video bud, Done Crib a few times now but never had the views you had... Another Sick route with similar Exposure is Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis. Most would Recommend a short Rope though for Tricky Sections.

Hey, thanks! Yes I was planning on doing a lot more videos this year, especially after getting a new go pro last christmas, but obviously, things got put on hold for a while. But Im actually going to film a video this Sunday. Something a little different than mountains but check back next week and see!

I remember doing that - luckily for me there was thick mist and I didn't realise just how narrow it was!
Are the routes over the pinnacles towards the end of the ridge clearly marked?
Do you have any tips on how to balance so well and walk across it? I would need to scramble and use my hands but you are walking across it. How can I improve my balance?
I would suggest generally practicing balance and agility where ever possible. When it comes to something like crib goch, concentrate on every step and take your time.

@@dancallaghan528 I did the same! But it was blowing a gale with torrential rain... i was bloody terrified :') Going along the ridge couldnt see more than 10m due to the fog. Definitely an experience ill remember for life!

Everything I read on it scared me more then what it actually was. I did by myself an didn't find it difficult. You'll be fine especially if you have people doing it with you or there. For sure worth it

Did it this weekend, a bit blustery & misty, so no views & slightly slippery in parts. Think I used up a years worth of adrenaline moving far, far slower than these guys. Amazing, great video.
The wind was relentless when I sid it, you couldn't stand without holding a rock or each other to anchor from being blown away. Stupid to go in those conditions.

yes definitely. just be careful. its also possible to walk a little lower than the actual ridge if you dont feel confident.

How many fall in a year, the risk is high?
From what I know, there are around 12 rescues from Crib Goch every year. I would only say its high risk if you are not careful.

This is a Grade 1 Scramble for a reason it's very, very easy, myself and my 8 year daughter did this together not so long ago, while we up there we were passed by a guy that was running it....

What kind of footwear do you advise for Crib Goch?
Well I wear trail running shoes when I do scramble routes like this due to the good grip and flexibility. How ever the most sensible option would be something with a bit more ankle support. :)
So if you slip you've had it you can't grip with a gopro in your hand. Burk

It just seems very crazy and they seem very walk in the park mentality when in reality one slip and down you go. They seem to have the face that these rocks are very solid and secure when they can actually break away every time you step on one and that could be your last step. I don’t think I would ever try this I value my life

Anyone who watches a lot of these Crib Goch daredevils might be able to help me out please- there was a similar one on YT until quite recently (now deleted I think), it'd also got a lot of views and been posted several years, the dude did a full panorama in slo-mo using a selfie stick from the Knife Edge ... Anyway- I'm now wanting to contact/identify the CZcamsr to find the epic music from the video. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I think I know the video you are talking about. It was probably the first ever go pro video of Crib Goch uploaded to YT. If its the same one you are thinking of the music he used was from the sound track to Last of the Mohicans. Track called "The Kiss"
