    I used a similar ramp to carry a DRZ400. It worked fine even on dirt roads. I did put a wooden chock between the mudguard and front tire so the ratchet ties could be tight without compressing the springs much. Harbor Freight sell a light kit with magnets to hold them in place on the ramp.

    I like how you skipped the awkward bit where you wheeled the bike onto the carrier. I'd like to see how easy this is, especially with a bigger, heavier bike. I'd also like see what this is like going over speed-humps and up steep inclines before I bought one. It looks like it would be great on flat, smooth roads - but where I live, the roads are neither flat nor smooth!

    • @rochboulanger6565
      @rochboulanger6565 Před rokem +6

      If the roads are that bad and your bike is that big than any hitch mounted carrier is probly a bad idea. It would be hard on your vehicle, not to mention the poor handling while driving it this way. If you have a truck, you’re better off putting your bike in the bed. If not, buy a small trailer.

    I just bought one of these for my CRF300 Rally. Bike weighs 320lbs and the rack is plenty strong for it. I might be nervous about anything over 450 pounds…with bikes that heavy a trailer is best. Mine does fine on dirt/bumpy roads with careful driving. It’s a very good rack but it would be nice if they made the hitch bolt the standard 5/8.

    I guess it's an option, but honestly it seems too precarious to me. I've a Triumph Thruxton R and 1) It's heavy af to wheel up ramps. - I know this from having loaded it on trucks before. Always a two man job. You also need to be parked on perfectly flat ground like here for loading. Not always possible. 2) I don't have complete confidence that a heavy bike would be totally secure on this. It seems perfect for a scrambler or light 125-250cc bike, but I would be too nervous with this setup personally.

    I dont like tighting the front wheel suspension like that. You'd better off tighting from the front wheel axle so the suspension of the bike keeps working. Though it may be too low for that kind of system, and the bike may tilt if the wheelchoke isnt big enough. However, tight down on rear wheel is good.

    I don't trust those either.. That's why the ones I make are made out of the thick metal tubing that the entire reciever system is made from and I have support bars and welds all over .I weld picture and stunt cars for a living so I've built all kinds of crazy things. With mine the bike or whatever your hauling is safe the platform if fully supported and enterchangible with other platforms for what ever I'm hauling. Mine locks the bike in place so it cant fall over as you strap in on. And theres no sketchy ramp to push or ride up. A girl scout can load my gsxr 1000 by herself.

    I don’t have this hitch personally it does look nice for a purchase one though. I made one with a machined steel tung hitch just because square tube indeed is strong but holes in it create potential in my mind.
    I have a 2012 X5 that I have put my 2014 S1000RR and it did fine went 800 miles just . First time use it seems sketch and there is a reason why new things can be just that... even a trailer is sketchy tire can blow out dismount, etc.
    Best to keep in mind these things:
    1. Know your vehicles hitch capability. AND you should since you purchased it...
    2. Know the weight of your bike. WHICH YOU SHOULD if you bought and ride the it...
    3. Get a quick plate removal kit so your plate is visible. Trailer lights are easy to add!
    4. If you don’t like it don’t get it...
    I don’t see the need for the excess silliness and unnecessary comments about what bike is in the vid. Research and learn, positive reinforcement and move on.

It's like they were written in English translated into Chinese and then retranslated back into English.
