A government official is tasked with a delicate mission: to travel to a remote prison and bring back a political prisoner who has been held there for years. The point of the mission is to make the government look like it is respecting human rights. But things are not as they seem.

Leo, a government official, works for the Ministry of Interior in Albania. He is assigned by his boss to go to a prison in the mountains and bring back Asllan, a dissident who has been imprisoned for 18 years. The reason for this is that a European delegation is coming to Tirana to evaluate Albania’s readiness to join the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The government wants to show that they are willing to release political prisoners and respect human rights. However, Leo’s mission is not as simple as it seems. He has to deal with Spiro, the prison director, who is reluctant to let Asllan go. He also has to face Asllan himself, who is suspicious of Leo’s motives and does not want to leave his cell. Leo also learns that Asllan has a son, Tristan, who lives in the nearby village and works as a mechanic. Leo tries to convince Asllan to meet his son and start a new life, but Asllan refuses. Leo also discovers that there is more to Asllan’s case than he was told, and that he is in danger of becoming a pawn in a political game.
It was based on an original script by Artan Minarolli, who died before the film was completed. Alimani decided to finish the film as a tribute to his friend and colleague. The film was released in 2018 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. It won several awards at international film festivals, such as the Grand Prix at the Warsaw International Film Festival and the Best Feature Film at the Trieste Film Festival. It was also selected as the Albanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.
