      Isaac Hayes and the creators of South Park got into it about whatever( I always assume it's money)🤷‍♀️ Isaac Hayes quit and smart nerds who draw cartoons CREATIVELY went above beyond and Below whatever it means to get your lick back🤦‍♀️
      The amount of disrespectful Petty that they put into this episode lets me know how much they appreciated and needed him.
      That was me looking on the bright side🙃

      @avislcuriel it wasn't money. Isaac was into Scientology and didn't like that they poked fun at his religion one time so he exited his contract prompting them to stitch together his voice lines to make this episode and write him out of the show out of spite.

    • @pinkgazelle3445
      @pinkgazelle3445 Před 9 měsíci

      Yes this episode was HIGHLY personal to Matt and Tray. So Chef's voice actor was into Scientology and got offended that they poked fun at his religion prompting him to quit. They do that to everyone else including their own religion so I don't know why he assumed his wouldn't be in line. Anyway, they took a bunch of his old voice lines and used them to stitch this episode and the next one together to write his character out of the show. My personal beliefe is honestly that they did this out of spite to give him the finger for expecting special treatment which South Park simply doesn't do. Their was a whole offical special with Matt and Tray that went over all this which you can look up for yourself. That's how I'm so well informed on the matter.

  • @citypopFM

    Isaac Hayes didn't even quit South Park - Scientology did it for him when Hayes was hospitalized and recovering from a stroke. However, at the time, Matt and Trey thought that Hayes put out that press release announcing his departure from the show over their lampooning of Scientology, essentially saying Matt and Trey were bigoted against his religion, so his death was a bit personal as depicted on the show. It came out later through Hayes' son that his father didn't write, sign, or put out that press release at all. There was even a radio show appearance that Hayes did after the Scientology episode, asked about it, and dismissed it as "well those guys make fun of everybody" and didn't seem to give a shit. He did defend his Scientology beliefs but in a cool and respectable way so he wasn't incensed or upset at the episode or show. Scientology is a ruthless cult so it makes total sense that they'd exploit Hayes' health issues and quit the show for him without his knowledge or consent because they otherwise would've threatened to kick him out of their religion anyway. Sad situation all around but Chef really was a special part of that show. Just don't put it on Isaac Hayes for his departure - blame Scientology.

    There was a radio interview with issac Hayes on Opie and Anthony about 6 months before his stroke. He was asked about all the different people that can be offended on South Park. He laughed and said, that if you’re on South Park, you have to be willing to laugh at everybody, even yourself. That’s why all the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and all the other religious jokes were ok. Then when he had a stroke 6 moths later, it was reported that he quit the show because of them mocking Scientology, but if you take his comments 6 months earlier and combine them with the fact he was never seen quitting the show and the only statement came from the church of Scientology on his behalf, you can assume that he was in no shape to make a statement on anything. He was probably in rough shape because he died shortly after and the statement about South Park probably came from the church and not him. Even if it did come from him, it was clearly forced by his handlers because we know how he felt when his brain was fully working. RIP Issac Hayes. I wish they’d have one of his kids do the voice of Darth Chef to redeem him

  • @Kamenari37
    @Kamenari37 Před 9 měsíci +4

    The Super Adventure club is a stand-in for Scientology in this episode. Isaac Hayes was reported to have taken issue with Matt and Trey after the Scientology episode but the issue there is somewhat muddled. Representatives of the church bullied their way to speak on Hayes behalf while he was in the midst of medical issues which led to Matt and Trey severing ties. Hence this episode using mishmashed sound clips of Hayes voicing Chef throughout the show's history to craft his dialogue. The episode is a very on-the-nose depiction of what happened between the group from Matt and Trey's point of view. A fruity little club twisted the thoughts of their friend and turned them into someone they couldn't get along with anymore in good conscience so they parted ways.
    Scientology does not believe that having relations with young children is a means to attain immortality. I suppose that whole detail being done in the same way as the Scientology episode stating bluntly "This is what Scientology actually believes" with captions on the screen was meant to refer back to that episode and tie the things together even further.
    Unfortunately Isaac would pass away before being able to reconcile and talk with Matt and Trey about all of it. Scientology is vicious in its attacking and demonizing of people who are outspoken against it. People who have left Scientology often attest to having websites and misinformation spread about them online labeling them as child predators, adulturers, and all manner of awful things in order to preemptively discredit them should they ever speak ill of the religion. It does not help that when joining, and throughout their time in the church they are subjected to a process called auditing, which is somewhat similar to confession in Catholocism. They are told to admit to bad things they have done as a means of cleansing, but in reality it is a means for the Church to gather blackmail on members to be used against them in the case they ever leave the church, or threaten to go against them in any way.

    Brief History, Matt and Trey (Creators of South Park) believe that Issac Hayes (Voice of Chef) left because of his ties to scientology. Especially after that "Coming Out of the Closet" Episode that made fun of them. They thought Issac simply left in disgust and have one of the scientology members come in and call the South Park Studio on behalf of Issac to quit the show. So, this episode was made in response to that interaction "Chef turning his back on us." and "That fruity little club messed him up." was a pretty obvious jab.
    However, many years later, Issac's Son came out and revealed what really happened, Issac was extremely ill, so much that he ended up taking a break from voice acting. However, that gay fruity lil club took advantage of that and claimed to be representative of Issac on his behalf and told the South Park staff that he always wanted to quit the show.
    Matt and Trey deeply regretted making "The Return of Chef" episode. After the truth came out.

    This episode had to be made with older clips of his voice cause he left the show. This episode was their sendoff for him. The Super Adventurers club was actually the church of scientology. And in the credits everyone has the same fake name.

    2:30 they did take out clips from all of South Park's episodes with Chef.
    The actor - song writer quit the series after the writers attacked Scientology.
    He thought they were his friends and got butt hurt when they insulted his religion. (What a hypocrite) He didn't have any problem with them slamming the Catholic Church or Mormons or even Jews. But criticize Scientology and he has a hissy fit and quits.

    Sooo... funny thing abiut this episode.
    Isaac Hayes had been made to resign the show because the Church of Scientology did it during a time when he was hospitalized. See, he had a nasty strike that ruined the speech center of his brain, which meant that he'd barely be able to speak; let alone voice act and sing as Chef. Trey and Matt didn't know what happened and thought he just up and left (despite later radio interviews and his son later confirming that was not the case), and killed Chef off pretty brutally out of feeling pretty hurt. Although, that eulogy they gave Chef was pretty nice, especially as Isaac Hayes would soon be taken in 2008 by the complications caused by that stroke. And for Chef in this episode, they did use audio clips from previous appearances to make his lines.
    Funny thing, though, is that if the RPGs are canon, then Darth Chef has been retconned or the SAC quitband buried him, since the last time Chef appeared was as a boss in Stick of Truth as a Nazi Zombie boss. So yeah, the boys canonically had to kill Chef after he was resurrected.
    Also, yes, the Super Adventure Club is a mockup of the Church of Scientology because they took Matt and Trey's friend and those two were out for blood. Understandably so.
    Although, there is a real-world Explorers Club that's been in operation since the 1800's. Originally, it was a club of wealthy individuals dedicated to venturing into unknown areas of the globe, making scientific, historical, and geographical discoveries for their fellow man. Now, they're more like a club of rich people that fly and yacht everywhere.

    The epic Haduken that was the Scientology episode, was so powerful it woke the world up to Scientology. Before that, no one dared make a film about it, because they had a crazy legal team, but they all came out immediately after this ep aired. Matt and Trey are so brave!

    I feel I don't have to explain the whole Super Adventure Club angle because you got it already but on a side note during the 1800s when white 'explorers' were going to exotic countries for hunting purposes there are verified accounts of child M and even child R that resulted from those excursions. It wasn't all about bringing back ivory tusks and zebra hide after all. On top of that the founder of SAC was constantly being investigated for fraud and child A that even went as far as Federal stings being conducted on his yacht more than once. I can't speak to what the SAC actually believes in terms of eternal life, but I do remember a story of someone who got out of the club saying something to that effect. It has something to do with how non-corrupt a child is, the younger the more potent their life force. :SHUDDER: The funny thing is that for all his talk of immortality... the founder died of a stroke at 74 yo. 😆 I however died laughing the first time I saw the social worker demonstrate his "technique" on the doll! 🤣

      The Darth Vader thing was supposed to allow Issac Hayes to return, but he died two years later. I kinda wish they found a way to somehow retcon his death to line up with the actual events. The closest thing I can think of to that would be in the Stick of Truth, but I feel like I could just be reaching.
