    I will never get enough of the wonderful startup/idling sound of a class 66

    Great video mate like music to the ears! Don’t get me wrong the old stuff is brilliant too but the 66s sound so smooth and rhythmical when they get going. Subbed to your channel, I’ve got a few reviews of model 66s on mine and some of there older brothers at peak Forest if you are interested in having a look. All the best and thanks again for sharing, Paul

      EMD has some pretty nice sounds but overall imo I like GE better. EMDs and GEs dominate here in america.

      The "ying ying" is the gears driving the turbocharger at low engine speeds (low load = not enough exhaust flow)

    Why do these locomotives always make a beeping sound when starting up?

    • @HSTADAM1991
      @HSTADAM1991 Před 5 lety +12

      i think its if anyone is in the engine room to tell them to get out before it starts up, but im not 100% sure

    • @thomaspalmer1019
      @thomaspalmer1019 Před 5 lety +5

      @@HSTADAM1991 could be one reason (although there were only five short beeps - which would not give someone a lot of time to get out of the engine room), but it could also be to alert anyone standing beside the locomotive that they are about to hear a reasonably loud sound. Could be wrong, though. There could be other reasons too.
