Like many of the vehicles of today , class 66 are being fitted with stop start technology, some even have control on how many cylinders run on idle , and the EMD 710 as the most numerous locomotive prime mover in the world is being developed further so it almost runs on thin air? And although its a V12 its also a two stroke diesel . I think the loco was fine , just an impatience driver !

What would we do without the 66 these surely must be the most successful diesel locos to ever run in the UK and we must remember the basic design has been here since the 80s with the 59s ?

3:12 does anyone know why it sounds like the engine rpms drop slightly, is there a delay in fuelling? Noticed all EMD710's do it

I believe the clutch engaging in the turbo after initial combustion. Although i could be wrong

Nope, 66s don't have them. Neither do any diesel trains.

dB have a number of 66's with start/stop tech, and freightliner have started using it too. I'm not sure if gbrf have any as yet.
dB have 90 class 66's with it and it's been in use since 2014

I think it works under sat ideling time at signals, loops or yards. Maybe like cars have got, but not 100% sure.

Well this is new information for me then.. every time I see/hear a 66 idling their engine never turns off. Only thing I hear is the engine revving down
